“Perfect holiday in Villa Marta!”
We (parents and 1,5 year old son) spend 8 days in the beginning of October in Villa Marta in Fiuggi. Distance from Fiumicino airport was very practical and weather was perfect for us. Better than finnish summer. :D Villa Marta was fully equipped (also for our baby), spacious, clean and cosy apartment. Closed garden was very safe environment for children to play. We had great time just enjoying life and hanging out at apartment. Fiuggi itself and surrounding towns were interesting places to visit. Outlet in Valmontone and Rome were also easily reachable. There were nice restaurants, ice-cream bars, pizza take-aways and grocery nearby. Dorothy and Biagio were the most hospitable hosts! We got map in advance so it was very easy to find this location when arriving late at night. We truly felt that we were welcome and if we had anything to ask, they would help us. Thank You, Dorothy and Biagio!
“A great base for exploring Lazio and beyond”
A lovely, private apartment with great garden in the pleasant town of Fiuggi. The owner could not have been more helpful and accommodating. We used it as a base to explore Rome (an easy drive and train journey away - and great to return to the calm and space at the end of the day), Tivoli (Villa adriana a must) but also very much enjoyed the local hill towns, which were a great surprise. Fiuggi is a pleasant town with good local restaurants and some excellent ice cream! Nearby Fumone offers great views, a quaint environment and an unusual restaurant experience - ask Dorothy for the recommendation! Anzio and Monte Cassino are both easily accessible for the history buff, Anagni and Subiaco for those in search of religious sights. A car is pretty much a necessity, but you might just get away with it if you fly into Ciampino (the train runs direct from there) and just want a chill out week with a few trips into Rome.
“A comfortable stay at a great home in Fiuggi”
The house is situated in a very good location where the old town and new town are just a few minutes away. The view from Villa Marta is spectacular and it's especially enjoyable sitting in the garden in the gazebo, just by the house. The house was very clean and the bedrooms were comfortable. The owners of this home were kind and helpful and offered a lot of useful advice on the sort of things that might be interesting to visit locally. I recommend this to anyone staying in in Fiuggi a week or two as there is so much to do!
“great place for relaxing stay”
we had great time at villa marta. we stayed during 1 week in august with our 14 month old daughter. Appartment is fully equiped & clean and the view on hills is fabulous. Dorothy (the owner) is very welcoming and helpful. She recommended us on our surrounding visits, lent of the equipment and the toys for our daughter and generously offered to us some vegetables of her garden. Fiuggi is great place a very calm city. it's well located between Roma and Napoli, 1 hour far from beaches (teraccina and sperlonga). the garden is perfect for kids: plunge pools, balloons, swings, etc... definitively the best relaxing place we ever had.
“Charming and Pleasant”
Four of us (2 married couples ages 50-60) stayed at Villa Marta for one week in May, 2012. We very much enjoyed the town of Fiuggi and Dorothy's hospitality. Dorothy was very accomodating, helpful with directions and charming overall. The accomodations (Lower apartment) were spacious, spotlessly clean, fully equiped and very comfortable for a very reasonable price. We loved the home. It is within walking distance of the town although we had a car to get around in. Two of us went for a run nearly every morning to the town and back. We mostly enjoyed Dorothy who is instantly likeable with a wry sense of humour in both English and Italian. We secretly called her "aunt" Dorothy. We don't really have anything negative to say about our stay except that the wireless internet didn't work in our apartment. This turned out to be a blessing anyway since we were on vacation.
Response from the owner Apologies for the inconvenience with the Wi-Fi connection. The problem has since been rectified
“Terrific place for visiting Rome and Napels/Pompei”
Dorothy's place is a great and beautiful location to stay if you want to see more than just Rome. With a rental car you have easy access to the train station. The train brings you within an hour in Rome (take the Birg ticket: for only 9 euro you have a train ticket + any public transportation in Rome for the entire day!). By car it's easy to travel to Napels/Pompei/Herculaneum. The high way is excellent. But don't forget to explore Fuiggi and the surrounding beautiful villages, or visit Tivoli, explore the Sorrento peninsula (Amalfi coast) or do some shopping. We did it all in one week, but there is lots more to see and do. Dorothy provides excellent service and is very friendly and helpful. I absolutely recommend this place.
We were really impressed with Villa Marta It has everything we needed and Dorothy and her husband could not be any more helpful. The knowledge they had of this region helped make the holiday one of the best we have had. We hope to revisit one day
“A new favourite destination”
We arrived at the villa during a freak hail storm, but Dorothy was waiting to welcome us as we arrived. That was an indicator of the service to follow, she is a very friendly and helpful ex-pat from the UK and this makes a first time stay in Italy very easy and well informed. We were even given some freshly roasted courgettes from her husband Biaggio's garden, which made us feel very welcome. We had the ground floor apartment which was clean, well equipped, very secure and comfortable. The villa is on hillside and you need to have good legs or a car, but that's Italy. The property has plenty of secure parking space. The location is good for touring southern central Italy, and a train to Rome is convenient an easy. I would wholeheartedly recommend the villa and Dorothy and Biaggio's hospitality.
“Gorgeous home, great location, wonderful hosts”
Fiuggi is a gem in the Lazio region, and this villa is the perfect place to stay. An extremely comfortable place with all the conveniences (including a spa tub), beautiful views and wonderful hosts. Dorothy was great with restaurant suggestions as well as supplying us with some fresh vegetables from their own garden. Fiuggi was a highlight of our trip to Italy, and one day we hope to return.
“Beautiful Apartment, wonderful views, lovely town.”
My wife and I had a fantastic stay in the lovely 'Villa Marta', it is in the historic town of Fiuggi and it was a great location for exploring the area both north and south. It was easy to get to the railway station for trips to Rome or you can take the autostrada to Pompei and Monte Cassino both of which are an easy day out. There are also lots of local sights and one to recommend is 'Subiaco Abbey', we also had to have a trip to the designer shopping outlet at Valmonetone just 30 minutes away. Fiuggi is also famous for its Spa but we did not manage to take advantage of it on this visit. We stayed in the upper apartment that was spacious and comfortable, we also had a peak in the lower apartment which looked just as nice. The views from Villa were fantastic, looking over the town of Fiuggi in one direction and the nearby hills and mountains in the other. It made it very easy to get information as Dorothy and Biagio are an English/Italian couple, so if there was any Italian we did not understand they were very willing to help translate, they could also make any restaurant reservations for us. All in all a great place to stay and thank you Dorothy and Biagio for looking after us so well and we will sure to be back.
