The GULF - The PATIO - The GARDEN Cottages at Sandy Shores
Please be our guest! Sandy Shores has been in the Hall family for over 60 years, and is currently owned and operated by Myrtle Hall. Myrtle is German-born and moved to Indian Rocks Beach in 2000 when she married her late husband, Ned. Ned’s grandmother bought the Indian Rocks Beach property in 1946. Ned's father George Hall built the first, two-story building in 1952. The one-story Gulf Cottage followed in 1972. Ned's family lived here in the winter, and spent the summer in Ithaca, NY, where his father was the Golf Coach at Cornell University for over 40 years. Ned followed in his footsteps as a PGA Teaching Professional for over 25 years. He was teaching at the Clearwater Golf Club located in Clearwater, Florida when Myrtle, in Florida on holiday from Germany, met him in 1998. Myrtle and Ned, of course, had their wedding right in front of beautiful Sandy Shores!
Like Ned, Myrtle fell in love with this beautiful property and its rich family history. Ned and Myrtle started to rent out their cottages in 2005 after a complete beautification and enjoyed every minute of sharing this lovely property with their guests. Myrtle carries on the Hall family tradition of hospitality at Sandy Shores and adds her special brand of German warmth. Her attention to detail and cleanliness makes Sandy Shores a unique and charming retreat.

“Piece of Paradise”
My husband and I spent a week at Sandy Shores and absolutely loved it! We are already planning our return trip there next summer. Myrtle and Abby (her little dog) made us feel right at home. The cottages and entire vacation rental was very clean and well kept. Myrtle truly has a piece of paradise awaiting her guests when they visit Sandy Shores.
Last year we promised we would come back this year and we did it. We had wonderful 2 weeks and now we promise that we'll visit this little paradies next year also. A lot has happened since last year. The house got a new paint, Myrtle and Ned did a lot of renovation work everywhere, designed the garden a bit different and planted many of new plants and flowers. It was really worth it. As I read the reviews I noticed there is no word about sleeping and I think this point is very important, too. We were in the gulf cottage and also in the patio cottage and in both of them we slept like a log. I always have problems with my spinal discs but not when we're there. The beds are marvelous and it's absolut calm. If you have any questions about where to go eat outside or where to go for a day trip or what ever ... ask Ned. He really knows all. We love this place and so ... We'll be back !!! Thank you very much Myrtle and Ned for the kind hospitality ... and certainly ... for the amazing baseball evening and the lessons. We're sometimes watching baseball on 'Sky-tv' and know a little bit more than before but Werner was the better student ;o) Best wishes ... take care ... Werner and Doris
“A Pristine,Peaceful Spot on the Gulf”
My husband and I had looked forward all winter to our Florida getaway and Sandy Shores did not disappoint us.Our Garden cottage was immaculate and stocked w/ everything we needed for a comfortable week(even lovely beach towels and nice beach umbrellas and chairs).Ned & Myrtle really go the extra mile for their guests. They are welcoming, easily available and helpful if questions arise. The beautiful gardens, wonderful Gulf view and excellent location are exceptional. We enjoyed meeting other guests and sharing dinners together in the evenings. It is one of the nicest places we've ever stayed and we hope to return again before too long.
“it's like paradise”
it's only some steps to a private beach situation very clean - the owner ist german, so very reliable and living near the appartement so you can ask them any question. it's very quiet but you could have also action with shopping in Tampa and most other attractions like the Dali museum or outdoor activities. only 2 minutes away there's a woderful fish restaurant the mix of all makes the vacation here incomparable.
“Great after-wedding respite”
A perfect low-key spot to decompress after our wedding. Ned and Myrtle were the most accomodating hosts. The charming and immaculately kept cottages and grounds are beautifully secluded . We couldn't have been happier with our stay and look forward to returning soon.
“The Perfect Vacation Spot”
If an idyllic setting, white sandy beaches and honest hospitality is your idea of a dream vacation, look no further! Hosts Ned and Myrtle Hall offer the answer to your dreams at Sandy Shores, Indian Rocks Beach, Florida. Last week we had the privilege of renting the Gulf Cottage, affectionately called "Grammie's Cottage.” Ned and Myrtle have created an oasis of tranquility. The interior is tastefully decorated and the kitchen is well stocked with all the necessities to fix your own meals. We chose to eat in most nights because the Gulf view from the dining room table couldn't be beat. Stepping out the door we found ourselves in a beautifully maintained tropical garden just steps from the white sandy beach that stretches for miles in both directions. From beach towels to blenders, big screen TV to internet access, Ned and Myrtle provide everything you need to enjoy a vacation you will treasure.
“Exactly What We Were Looking For”
Our trip to Sandy Shores was wonderful. It was exactly what we were looking for. We love the beach, but in the past few years have gotten frustrated with the commercialized nature of most beaches. We wanted a simple, quiet vacation where it was easy to relax. This place was exactly that. It was impeccably clean, which is definitely a big thing for me since I work at a hospital, and am a little OCD when it comes to cleanliness. Ted and Myrtle live on the property, and were very inviting and informative. Ted told us that while we were staying that we were family, and they make you feel very much at home. The beach only has a handful of people on it at any given time which was a much desired change from the overpopulated beaches we have become accustomed to. If homey relaxation in traditional Florida fashion is what you are looking for, this place is perfect for you...I know it was for us.
We were on honeymoon and after New York City and San Francisco this (too short) week was a wonderful conclusion to a wonderful trip. For me, this place is like paradise. I knew it already and it has once again confirmed, after 12 years. Myrthle and Ned are really very nice and helpful. The other reviews have not exaggerated. Also, it helped us a lot that Myrthle is German and could eliminate some language barriers ;o). So I hope that this review is somewhat understandable, because our English is not the best. The entire holiday was perfect, so we´ll repeat it almost, to our wedding day, will visit New York again, and after Grandma's House ... but then 2 weeks :o))! Has already been scheduled and I can not wait until this long year is over. Many thanks to Myrthle and Ned ... you gave our trip a great degree. Many regards Werner and Doris
From the moment we were welcomed by Ned and Myrtle, we knew we had found paradise. Their warm hospitality made us feel at home immediately. The cottage was perfect; impeccably clean and charming. The complex was so adorable with little alcoves of seating and grilling areas equipped with quirky little decorations and gorgeous flora. The night time blooming flowers high in the palm trees were amazing. Not a detail was missed. Ned shared not only his grilled steelhead trout with us but also the recipe. We enjoyed a golf clinic with him and shared time with his guitar and singing. A short walk through the dunes lies the incredible Indian Rocks Beach with its crystal clear waters where fish and shells abound. I have traveled a lot and this is by far one of my favorite places on earth. Highly Highly recommended
