Description
This charming house is well furnished in the French country style, with French windows opening onto the terrace from both the sitting room and bedroom.Now with internet WiFi. There is a woodburning stove in the sitting room. It is in a tranquil position overlooking vineyards and the local windmill. The garden is private and there is plenty of outside furniture. You may hear a nightingale or see hoopoes!
The world famous vineyards of the Medoc are nearby on the Chateau Route, such as Rothschild, Margaux, Beychevelle, and the friendly local vintners will be pleased to sell you their wines - several within walking distance. The Atlantic beaches such as Le Pin Sec and Montelivet are under half an hour drive away, and Hourtin lake has sandy beaches with windsurfing and water sports. Soulac is a seaside town with lots of restaurants and atmosphere. The beautiful city of Bordeaux is an hours drive and St Emilion is worth a visit for a day out. Lovely La Rochelle is an hour and a half away by car from Royan.
Sorry no dogs.
Go as foot passengers on the ferry from Le Verdun to the seaside town of Royan, or from Lamarque to the citadel at Blaye.
Or just relax on the terrace or in the garden!
There are no shops or restaurants within walking distance. The nearby town of Lesparre has supermarkets, banks and a market on Saturday morning.

We are sorry you missed having a coffee machine, although there is a cafetiere, but we feel you were not misled about this as there is none listed in the description of contents. Likewise internet and wifi, which we are trying to get put in. We will install a mosquito net in the bedroom. We appreciate what you are saying about the TV channels being English freesat channels. It is difficult to supply TV channels for all languages, but we are hoping to have French TV available in the near future. We do hope you enjoyed your stay and taking part in the Medoc marathon.
