Located near a small town with all amenities, it is a perfect starting point for visiting the Loire Valley castles and the rich local architecture, go wine tasting, enjoy the local gourmet restaurants, go shopping for paintings and antiques, and generally enjoy life and relax in a very beautiful setting.
Built in the 19th century with the luminous white stones used in the Chateaux de la Loire, the chateau offers a beautiful setting as well as comfortable and spacious rooms with abundant outside light. All living rooms and bedrooms face to the south with a view to the park and the surrounding countryside up to 15 kilometers. It is well furnished and perfectly maintained with all amenities expected today.

The chateau has a total of 9 bedrooms and six bathrooms:
- 2 Master Suites, each consisting of a large bedroom (one large bed) with an en suite smaller bedroom (2 single beds) and with an en suite full bathroom (sink, WC, bathtub and separate shower), perfect for families
- 3 large bedrooms each with a large bed (2 bedrooms have an additional single bed in the room) with an en suite shower room (sink, WC, shower)
- 1 smaller room with a single bed and an ensuite shower room as above
- 1 bedroom with 2 single beds

The park of 11 hectares (25 acres) is entirely surrounded by a wall. It is composed of oak woods and prairies and lawns edged with hundred-year old trees. It also has a rose garden with over 200 rose bushes. The fenced swimming pool (10 meters by 5 meters) has a stone floored sun bath area and all necessary equipment for sun bath. The chateau of La Plaine also has a barbecue and a ping-pong table as well as large, flat lawns for playing soccer or other similar games.

“Charming location in the heart of Chinon wine country”
We have stayed at La Plaine with family and friends twice already, The castle is setup in a romantic and private location. It is close to the Loire royal castes with lots of fun vineyards for wine tasting. On Saturdays, the outdoor market in Lencoitre to pick wonderful cheeses and seafood. This is a great location to discover the Loire valley.

“Beautiful chateau with lots of character. Great group holiday”
An extended family stay of 3 generations enjoyed this beautiful chateau in July/August 2013. The house certainly has the WOW factor yet is not stuffy and is bright and airy and perfectly cool in a hot summer. the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need and plenty of fridge and storage space. the bedrooms were beautiful and each unique (the photos dont really do it justice) and 6 ensuites were handy though there wasnt always enough hot water for everyone to have a hot shower at end of day by pool. With such a large party (16 of us) it was great to get space and not feel on top of one another. Pool area was beautiful and very sheltered which would be perfect if weather wasn't so hot, as for us we simply used the pool to cool down! there is now wifi access though due to such large house it only really worked in Kitchen area which was not a problem for us. The housekeeper came everyday and was very friendly and helpful. The area itself is lovely and we did a few day trips to Poitier and took a canoe ride in Chinon which was beautiful town and would spend some more time there. There was plenty of literature about the area (& house) though not so much if it in English. Due to us being such a large party we tended to eat in in evenings. The supermarket in the village had everything we needed and the table in the kitchen fits everyone around, as well as outdoor area for bbq. the grounds are lovely and great to explore, there was a herb garden and fruit trees - cherries were perfectly ripe while we were there.

“Fabuluos experience in a stunning setting to be remembered for a very long time. Only to be recommended!”
Chateau "La Plaine" is a beautiful, authentic castle offering an excellent blend of the original look & feel of a mid-nineteenth century castle and a tasteful modernisation (bathrooms, kitchen, library, swimming pool, heating,...) surrounded by a beautiful, 12 ha large, stone-wall fenced garden with own oak forest and a few mighty, beautiful Lebanon cedars. We stayed for 2 weeks with friends and their families with many children. They all loved the house, the accomodation and the garden. The huge garden and own forest was great for playing outside. The only drawback was that due to relatively cold weather, we could not enjoy the large pool as much as we would have liked. La Plaine is also a very good starting point for visits to the famous castles of the Loire - Chenonceau and many others are within an easy day trip distance - and historic town of Richelieu to the North is 20 minutes' drive, the Futuroscope near Poitiers is about 30 minutes' drive to the South. Other easy day trips - with a bit more driving - took us to the Atlantic to La Rochelle or Ile de Re. If you feel like eating out, there are some good restaurants in the area - for instance in Chatellerault or in Chinon - but to some you have to count 45 minutes' drive. For a special occasion, we used external catering and by chance an excellent caterer has its base for France in nearby Chatellerault. So food and service was excellent. We liked it very much in "La Plaine". The owners and the house keeper were very friendly and forthcoming. The final cleaning was done by specialised personnel for a very fair price. A small drawback is the missing internet access, since mobile data connection out in the French countryside is not very stable. If you look for a special place for a family get-together, holiday or meet friends, "La Plaine" is definitively a place I can warmly recommend.

“Onvergetelijke momenten”
Naar aanleiding van mijn man's 50ste verjaardag zochten we een ideale locatie om deze gebeurtenis met een ietswat grotere groep te vieren en hebben met La Plaine de perfecte keuze getroffen. Alles is verzorgd en netjes. Elke kamer heeft een eigen badkamer. Bibliotheek en salon zijn smaakvol ingericht. Maar de keuken is HET trefpunt! Met de heel lange tafel, enorm uitnodigend en was de plaats waar onze gasten grotendeels van hun verblijf verbracht hebben. Met de 2 koelkasten en berging ideaal voor ons verjaardagsfeest! De ligging is ideaal voor uitstapjes, inkopen (levensmiddelen)
