“Beautiful cottage”

Reviewed 5 Oct 2023

Having stayed in Acorn cottage many times and always in Acorn cottage when in the Fort William area, we would not go to the trouble of looking for anywhere different as we have tried many others in that area, but never found one as good as Acorn,we are going again in September. Response from the owner I note your review and am pleased you enjoyed your stay in our property. I was however, saddened to read your disingenuous review placed after being charged for damages and extra cleaning discovered after departure. As you will know, you were never asked to pay £620, a figure of £200 was made explicit in all our dialogue. This was by way of reparations for damage to the ceramic hob, burn/water marks on the coffee table and extra deep cleaning incurred during your stay. A figure of £100 was offered by yourself, which I accepted. Yes my standards are high. This is what my guests expect, what they deserve and why they keep coming back. Unfortunately, unlike other guests you omitted to report any breakages, but left a pattern of behaviour that resulted in my first claim for damages in eight years of conscientious business. Being a good host, is as important as the standards I thrive to uphold. It is disappointing that this one review has sought to damage that dearly held reputation.

Yes, these reviews do not lie. Acorn Cottage is fabulous! Light, airy, comfortable, spacious, well presented and well appointed. All the items you could wish for in the kitchen, fantastic bathrooms, and freesat with hundreds of channels. Our two couples decided they would come back after day 2. A wonderful welcome from Kate and Benjie. The views were very special indeed down the Caledonian Canal and over to Ben Nevis. And yes, the lemon drizzle cake is awesome.
