Description from owner

Description

Live like a local in this pretty town house in the heart of Chania Town. With its whitewashed walls, bright blue shutters and wrought-iron balcony, Archondisa stands out from the crowd in what is already a picturesque street. From its street-facing balcony you can watch the bustling crowds go about their business. Or, if you’d rather, head to the Venetian-style home’s rooftop terrace simply furnished with sunbeds and a parasol. There you’re rewarded with a 270 degree view of the village, mountains and harbour.

Inside, Archondisa’s charm continues with its mix of antique-style beds, traditional furnishings and mix of wood and marble floors. The ground floor features a living room, fireplace, basic kitchenette and shower room. There are steep stairs to the second level twin bedroom, the third floor double bedroom and roof terrace. Since the house is in the heart of Chania’s plant-pot strewn streets, it’s only a three-minute walk to the local tavernas. And the beach and harbour, which is ringed with cafés and restaurants, is a 15-minute walk away.

It is a true open-air museum, its architecture is made of 5,000 years of history... Minoans to Mycenaeans, Venetians to the Ottomans, Chania was a succession of different populations and customs that have been able to shape its beauty. The Venetian harbor and its lighthouse, the Minoan ruins of Kastelli area, the Mosque of the Janissaries, the fortress Firkas, the Cathedral, the church of Agios Nikolaos, the Agora and Sabbionara, all these marvels are to be visited in this city of a unique and rare magnificence.

“great location”

Reviewed 28 Oct 2016

Villa Archondisa was in a fantastic central location, minutes walk from shops, bus station, restaurants and beach and quiet at night, no need for a car! it was very traditional greek from the outside, white paint, blue shutters etc and, the interior was basic and not very comfortable. the beds were very firm with only dining chairs to sit on.It was very clean and the roof terrace was a definite bonus.
