Description

Villa Eleni is a self catering villa about 3km outside the harbour area of Agia Galini in South Crete. Close to local un-crowded beaches, the villa has three bedrooms (two doubles and one with bunk beds), and open plan living area with vaulted ceilings and superb beautiful views across the bay of Messara. AirCon is provided as is heating for the winter. The lounge area boasts an open log fire in winter. TV is provided. The Villa has a secluded pool and garden.

South Crete is a great location for the more peaceful 'get away from the crowds' type holiday or those looking for natural scenery, historic sites or uncrowded beaches. the historical sites of Faestos, Ag triada and Gortys are very close as is the town of Spili with its roman fountains. Sailing and diving are close by in Ag Galini.

This are is renowned for dolphins and the historical story of Icarus and Daedelus. Villa Eleni is very secluded, not overlooked and has excellent facilities. A car is required.

Villa Eleni has three bedrooms, a bathroom with shower, a separate wc/shower room, open plan living area with a fully fitted kitchen with all amenities, and a superb balcony area with views over the bay of Messara. TV, aircon and heating are available. The lounge area has a vaulted ceiling.

The main bedroom opens out to the pool area and has a double bed (two singles either separate or pushed together). Bedroom two has a double bed and bedroom three single bunk beds. All rooms have aircon, patio doors, double glazing and built in wardrobes.

There is solar water heating and a back-up generator in case of power cuts.

Broadband (pay as you go - book in advance) is available.

Just outside Ag Galini, a beautiful small harbor on the south side of Crete, Villa Eleni is well placed to visit local historical sites of Faestos, Ag Triada, Matala, Gortys and the town of Spili. The local town has facilities to rent cars, bikes and boat trips along the coast, or to view dolphins.

There is plentiful shopping in Ag Galini which has bars, restaurants and a beach. Local beaches also include Pavlos, Ag Gorgios, Matala, Komos and Triopterra and also some not marked on any map! Tours to the Samaria Gorge and to Knossos can be booked in the town at many tourist offices.

The town also has a post office, chemists, a doctors surgery and statues to Icarus and Daedelus. Just south of Psiloritis, the highest mountain in Crete (which remains snow covered well into May), Villa Eleni is well placed for relaxing away from mass tourism.

“Superb place to stay in Crete”

A well appointed villa, with pool, set in the hills above Agia Galini with superb views to the south over the islands and the LIbyan Sea; very private and quiet by day and night.

“Peace and quiet.”

This property is situated at the lower end of a hillside with both excellent views as well as lots of privacy. The house offers sufficient space and comfort, The kitchen is well equipped and the open plan living room features a balcony for having breakfast and late afternoon drinks. That is as long as the wind does not blow. In he latter case the poolside terrace is a better choice. The village of Agia Galini is close and offers sufficient choice of restaurants and shops. We did quite a lot of walking, but needed to create our own walks using Google Earth to find the back-roads and paths. One nice walk goes from Agia Galini to the west along the top of the cliffs overlooking he sea. You have to find it by yourselves though, since it is not indicated. To the west here are also lots of remote beaches, which in October you will have to share with almost nobody. In short: a good place for dolce far niente interspersed with bouts of activity, be it walking swimming or snorkeling.

“Great Place to stay”

The Villa is great and quiet and very restful. You can sit and look out over bay all times of day knowing you are close enough to everything but on your own to enjoy the peace and relaxation of a holiday. We enjoyed so much are going back again this year.
