Description
THE PROPERTY
Le Petit Canard (The Little Duck) is a 100+year old farmhouse opened as a Chambre d'hôte in July 2016 after the house was lovingly renovated. It is set in the beautiful countryside of the Tarn region in the South West of France with far reaching views across rolling hills and is surrounded by lovingly landscaped gardens with a well, stone features and lots of outdoor seating (both shaded and sunny) to have breakfast or just somewhere to relax and maybe read a book.
There is a plunge pool to cool off in the summer, sun loungers and a decadent jacuzzi hot tub to relax in, all with a beautiful view. Also available are outdoor games such as croquet and boules and free WiFi.
The house has been developed to offer comfort and space whilst retaining it's original features, character and charm. There are 3 bedrooms (2 large doubles that take extra beds and 1 twin) sleeping up to 10 people in total – 5,3 and 2.
THE ROOMS
The bedrooms (all with views of the garden or countryside and fields beyond) have excellent quality and very comfortable single or Super King size beds, wardrobes, shelving, hairdryer, tea & coffee making facilities, spacious showers with towels and toiletries provided and an international shaving socket.
BREAKFAST/EVENING MEALS
A large continental breakfast of Orange Juice, Tea, Coffee, Yoghurt, Croissant, Chocolatine, Cereal, Toast and jams, Eggs from our hens and Seasonal Fruit from the garden is offered and there is the option of ordering continental meats, cheese and bread instead when booking, or indeed a cooked English breakfast! Breakfast is prepared and served by the owners in the dining room or outside on the terrace.
Upon prior request, evening meals can be shared at the owner's table - Table d'hôte. We offer meals of a french or english style from a light simple supper to a full 4 course meal with cheese.
You could choose to eat out in the day and dine with us at night at the hosts table where you will be very welcome and able to chat some more about the beautiful Tarn region or you could choose to go out in the evening to one of the many restaurants available – Valderiés 8km, Tanus 8km, Carmaux 11km, Pampelonne 13km or Albi 25km.
ATTRACTIONS
A great location for visiting the UNESCO world heritage city of Albi - complete with stunning cathedral & Toulouse Lautrec museum 25km, and historic villages such as Monestiés 18km, Sauveterre de Rouergue 28km, Cordes-su-Ciel 33km and Najac 44km all with cafés, restaurants, markets and charming shops to browse. Albi also boasts a world renowned golf course. The Lac de La Roucarié is 11 km away for walking, kayak, pedloe, swimming etc. and Cap Découvert adventure park has cable water skiing, skiing and snowboarding, zip wires, carting etc. and it's own beach just 17km away. This area is beautiful for walking and cycling and the owners are happy to share local maps and routes (and there are marked routes) to enjoy the area.
