Description
A charming cottage nestling on a hillside in the heart of the Dordogne with a beautiful panorama. Enjoying peace and tranquillity it provides the perfect 'getaway'. Although it is very secluded, the cottage is close to all the tourist attractions of the area such as Montignac, The Vezere valley, Les Eyzies de Tayac and Sarlat. It has been renovated exclusively by the owner to provide a unique living space, using reclaimed oak and locally sourced green oak, local golden limestone, Lakeland stone (sourced from the English Lake District), and Italian marble tiles. It has a large decked terrace with a private swimming pool built into the terrace which enjoys a stunning view. The pool is lovely for cooling off during the hot summer months. The terrace is perfect for just relaxing in the evening with a glass of wine watching the sunset. Everything is provided for 'al fresco' dining including a BBQ. There is a large pergola to provide some shade if necessary. The interior has been renovated to a very high standard.The kitchen/ dining/living area is open plan, and has a traditional Belfast sink and drainer with authentic taps. There is a large beech work surface with a built in 4 ring gas hob. A large Smeg retro fridge provides ample space to chill wine. There is a microwave oven/ grill and oven combined which is discreetly hidden behind the gingham curtains. An electric kettle, toaster, pans, crockery and utensils, are provided. The bedroom with double bed has feature oak beams, and provides ample storage for clothes and luggage. It has a stunning view of the valley. The bathroom is on the ground floor providing a walk-in shower with a solid Lakeland stone base. There is a hand basin and toilet, and space for towels and toiletries. Discreet lighting highlights the features of this space.

“Beautiful gite & location”
We had a wonderful holiday at Le Petit Merly! This petite cottage was a fabulous base for relaxing & exploring the area. The cottage has been carefully designed & has high quality fittings/furniture/linens/crockery/etc. The pool is perfect for hot days & the terrace has beautiful views for relaxing & dining. We enjoyed lots of walks through the local hamlets & would recommend Saint-Leon-sur-Vézère, Périgueux & Sarlat for days out. The restaurant in nearby Rouffignac serves great food. We even went to two nights at the local village music festival, which was a great taste of French life. Cheryl & Paul were excellent hosts. They were extremely helpful & available when required but very respectful of our privacy. They made everything as easy as possible for us to enjoy a relaxing break, both leading up to the holiday & while we were at the cottage. We would highly recommend the cottage & Cheryl & Paul as hosts to anyone looking for a relaxing, comfortable holiday in beautiful surroundings.
