Description

Set in 6 acres of beautiful garden surrounded by the vineyards and sunflower fields of SW France, Gite Les Pignons is more than just a gite. The two bedroom, open plan, converted tobacco drying barn has all home comforts including a woodburner for use in the colder months and a gas bbq for the summer. As the only gite on the property, visitors have exclusive use of all facilities, alongside the owners, Jo and Adie. Facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, a covered outdoor area with gas bbq and wood fired pizza oven, a nine hole golf course, à well equipped gym, a fishing lake with rowing boat for lazy afternoons and a pool side bar with table tennis, pool table, darts and table football. There are six resident chickens which provide fresh eggs, and the two bastide towns of Monsegur and La Reole are only a five km drive away. Here, you will find thriving French markets in the mornings each week, and a multitude of restaurants and bars for evening entertainment. Throughout the summer months, there are also the famous night markets with music food and drink, and a short drive away are many other activities such as kayaking on the Dordogne, chateaux visits and the beautiful cities of Bordeaux and Bergerac with culture galore. What ever your preference during your holiday, Gite Les Pignons is sure to provide.

Getting around

You can take a train direct from La Reole to Bordeaux for the day, or a 50 minute drive along the autoroute. Bicycles can be hired along the canal, 15-20 minutes away. A car is needed for other more local sights.

Interaction with guest

Jo and Adie, your hosts, live on site and are there to assist you as you require but at the same time, will stay out of your way if you prefer. We are happy to hold a bbq night on the firepit by the lake with burgers and s’mores (always popular with the children) and a pizza night with the wood fired pizza oven. Adie is happy to give a golf lesson if required or instruct on use of the gym if needed. We can book restaurants, vineyard visits, kayaking etc as requested.
