Description

This two to three bedroom house is situated at the foot of the ramparts of the Medieval City of Carcassonne It is a traditional stone-built house with a terrace and garden above a garage. From this house you can climb a footpath in 2 minutes to the City. In the other direction, you can walk through trees and parkland to the Aude river, or you can cross the old bridge towards the Bastide Saint Louis with its shops and markets. The airport "Salvaza" of Carcassonne is less than 10 minutes by taxi or by the bus which can drop you at Trivalle , a 300m walk from the house . Please note that Rampart Cottage is situated only a few yards from Rampart Studio, an apartment somewhat smaller --and cheaper-- than the cottage . If both properties are hired together (at a reduced rent) it is possible to sleep 9 people.

The ground floor of the Cottage has an open-plan kitchen with an electric oven, a ceramic hob (4 burners), a microwave, a refrigerator with a freezer part and a dishwasher. There is a sitting area with a sofa and two armchairs around a wood burning stove for winter use supplemented by electric radiators in each room -- we supply wood and all heating is free . There is a TV set with box and internet access, a DVD player and a CD player .

On the first floor A bedroom with double-bed opens onto a smaller bedroom which is mainly used as a TV room but has a sofa-bed where you can sleep one adult or two chidren.

. On the second floor , is a bedroom with two single beds.This is a renovated loft-space with some restricted headroom.

Outside -- 3m from the front door of the house is the garage which is used for storage and washing machine. Above this is a large terrace and a small garden, equipped with tables, chairs, sun beds and a barbecue. This provides a very pleasant sitting-area with views across the rooftops to the ramparts of the city - a place in which to relax in sunshine or in shade. Access to the terrace by a fairly steep staircase , could be difficult for someone with reduced mobility . The street is pedestrianised – which makes for peace and quiet , and safety – with car access for residents and tenants. Cars can then be parked without limits or charges in nearby streets, with some off-road parking. But please note you can have a good holiday here without a car! Note there is an épicerie (groceries, bread, croissants) within 300 yards, open mornings and evenings.

General --- your rent covers minor breakages, cleaning, all bedding & towels, all services. Entry times are usually flexible , from early mornings to late evenings . Most reservations are for periods of one or two weeks but we accept shorter periods of three days minimum .

You can come from the airport by bus (stop at the old bridge) for 5 € / person, from the train station in 15 minutes walk by the pedestrian street of the Bastide Or by car with parking in front of the house Or by motorcycle A large garage and at your disposal. I offer bikes for walks along the banks of the river ...., and for your babies: bed, bath, chairs, park and car A book gives you the information you need: places and days of markets, tourist tax, practical instructions ..... PLEASE: take care of the home as at home, Thank you to empty the trash and put the dishwasher on the road before leaving. For glass bottles, you can put them in the box intended for recycling or place them in the container to the left of the church Saint Gimer

We live in the same neighborhood and we can accompany you in the discovery of the region, you give the addresses of restaurants, the visits of cellars, the markets where to discover the regional products. We will be happy to share with you a cup of tea or coffee or a glass of wine from our region. Remember to let us know your arrival time, we are flexible if you have to wait longer, no worries .... Throughout your stay, we are at your disposal in case of need. We try to offer you the best with our house, do not hesitate if you miss something ... or if we can improve our welcome, we are taking new ideas.
