Description

Centred around a 15th Century pele tower, the property has been developed over the centuries with later additions in the 18th and 19th Century. The Hall is built on the site of a Roman fort known as ” Castra Exploratorum ” and it is believed that some sections of the house have been built using some of the fort stones. The house stands in 36 acres of parklands with extensive lawns, a Victorian pleasure garden and a walled garden covering just over an acre.

Engineer is a 1 bedroom self-catering apartment which is furnished to a very high standard and sleeps 2 people.

This apartment is open plan featuring a seating area with original oak beams, a log burner and a 40 inch smart T.V.

The dining kitchen area provides a table with seating for 4 and a fully equipped kitchen area with, coffee machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer and cooker with induction hob. All crockery and cutlery are provided.

The large bedroom is en-suite with a comfortable king size bed. All linen, dressing gowns and towels are provided. This bedroom provides magnificent views of The Netherby Estate parklands over towards the Solway and the hills of Scotland beyond.

The en-suite bathroom has both a large walk in shower unit and a free-standing bath.

A washer/dryer is provided in this apartment.

As with all our apartments we are dog friendly. There will be a small surcharge of £25 for the duration of the stay, when booking please inform us of any requirements.

Getting around

You would really need your own transport to easily get around the area. There is such a lot to explore. We are approx 40 minutes from the Lake District and minutes from the valleys of Dumfries & Galloway and the rolling hills of the Scottish Borders. Longtown is 2 miles from Netherby with a good taxi service and the bus route linking Carlisle to Edinburgh and Dumfries. Information is available in each of our rooms.

Interaction with guest

You will be made welcome by one of our reception team on your arrival. They will show you to your apartment and go over the necessary information you will need but apart form that we will leave you pretty much alone to get on and enjoy your stay. The main house is occupied weekly by working staff and at weekends there is someone not far away to contact should you need to. All details are available in your welcome pack.

“Stunning apartment.”

The apartment is fitted out to an exceptionally high standard throughout. A perfect location for a romantic break in beautiful surroundings. The Hall and gardens are being sympathetically restored and will be fabulous when completed. It’s an ideal base to explore the Lakes or even the east coast. Helen and Jane were most helpful. We will be visiting again most definitely. Fabulous.
