Description

Charming, airy house in the village of Saint Thomas de Conac. Recently renovated, the property boasts three large bedrooms, shower room, well equipped kitchen/dining room and living room. The property is accessed via a metal gate into the courtyard garden, complete with grapevine and stunning hollyhocks at the right time of year plus stone barbecue. Large glass doors from the kitchen and hallway open to the garden, which ensure plenty of light, but the house stays cool in the heat of summer. Upstairs you'll find a HUGE master bedroom with walk in wardrobe and king size bed, another double bedroom (leading to mezzanine floor aimed at the artists among you, easel and paints provided!) and a smaller room with twin beds. There is also a bright shower room. The living room downstairs has a cosy wood burning stove should you require, or remains cool on hot summer days. There is satellite tv (so you can catch up on English tv) and dvd player, as well as library of books and general information about the area.
The friendly and attractive village of Saint Thomas de Conac has an excellent restaurant/bar, a very good boucherie/charcuterie (also now sells a few general groceries and bread), fabulous boulangerie, church and well-run horse riding stables. Wine/Pineau tours are available during summer months. The village itself is on top of a hill – on one side you'll find endless vineyards and fields full of sunflowers. On the other a steep slope down to the marais, the Gironde estuary and a haven for bird and wildlife,cycling and footpaths. Excellent beaches are 25 mins away by car, via the Route Verte, and through the lovely villages of St Fort, Mortagne, Talmont and Meschers. The towns of Jonzac (20 mins), Pons, Saintes (40 mins) are well worth a visit. Bordeaux and La Rochelle airports 1 hr and 1.5 hours respectively. Supermarket 10 mins in Mirambeau.

“Lovely, well-appointed home from hom”

Steph's property is as comfortable as you could possibly wish for, with everything you need on hand. It is a great location in the village, with a bar/restaurant directly across the street and a small grocery store a short walk away. If you want to spend time in this area, we can highly recommend it. Superb.
