Description
L'Escapade is a spacious holiday home set in the tranquil hamlet of Tramonzac, close to the beautiful river Dronne on the South Charente / Dordogne border. The farmhouse was refurbished in 2015 and boasts a newly installed heated 10 x 5m swimming pool. This is fully fenced and alarmed to make sure little ones are safe as they play in the large garden or rest in the shade.
The house also has a large outside kitchen / dining area next to the pool which was historically the threshing barn for the farm. This offers shade from the summer sun and shelter from any unexpected rain.
The house is spacious, comfortable and well furnished. The kitchen was installed in 2015 and has a large table seating 8-10 with modern equipment including a dishwasher, oven, hob and microwave. The utility room has a washing machine and a "beer" fridge to make sure you can always find some cool refreshment.
The large living room has a stone fire place with a wood burning stove, satellite TV with a DVD player, and a selection of family DVDs and comfortable sofas. There is also complimentary Wi-Fi access.
Situated off both the lounge and the kitchen is a play room. There are plenty of toys available for children of all ages and board games for some traditional family fun.
Upstairs are 4 large bedrooms. The master bedroom has a kingsize bed and views over the outside area. Next to this is a family room with a double bed and 2 bunk beds. The third bedroom has 3 single beds and the fourth bedroom has a superking double bed. There are also 2 travel cots provided and a high chair for the smallest guests.
There is a newly installed upstairs bathroom with bath and separate shower. Downstairs there is another bathroom with a bath and shower above. Perfect for showering straight from the garden or pool.
Officially one of the most beautiful villages in France, Aubeterre Sur Dronne, is 5kms away and there are 2 villages within 3kms. Bonnes offers gorgeous riverside walks and is perfect for picnicing and fishing, it has a boulangerie and 2 restaurants. The second village of St Privat des Pres is very attractive and has a butchers and local produce shop along with fresh bread. During the Summer the local towns and villages become animated with night markets and other various activities.
Within just 10 minutes drive are 2 river beaches, which have roped off swimming areas and life guards during summer months. For the more adventurous both St Aulaye and Aubeterre-Sur-Dronne have tree climbing adventure parks and canoe hire. The spectacular swimming lake of La Jemaye is just 15 minutes drive. La Jemaye has a superb Bistro and 2 snack cafes and also offers free canoe hire during peak season. All 3 beaches offer free parking.
Cycling around the area is a joy and we have provided 2 adult and 2 childrens bicycles. There is also some fishing rods and tackle available if you want to try your luck in the nearby river. This is the perfect place for a fabulous family holiday.

“Just perfect.....beautiful house, glorious location, heated pool”
We wanted peace and quiet, we have busy lives and wanted to relax- we did go out and about, but personally I would have been happy not to leave this gorgeous house for a week. Lazing by the pool, lots of wine and food in the beautiful open barn. We had the most amazing weather, with some spectacular storms at night. The subterranean church in Aubeterre was stunning, and we had a great days shopping in Bordeaux which was nearer than I had first thought. Absolutely charming- was frankly gutted to leave.
