Description from owner

Description

A small one bedroom cottage converted from a stable situated right in the heart of Sedbergh. It is a few minutes' walk from the local pubs, restaurants, bookshops and amenities and five minutes' walk from Sedbergh School. A charming vista from the windows overlooking St Andrews Church. Ideal for visiting Sedbergh and the surrounding towns, such as Kendal or as a base for a hiking holiday, exploring the Howgills, the Lake District and the Dales.

Very convenient for parents visiting Sedbergh School. Please contact us to discuss single night stays for attending school activities.

Single room downstairs with living area to the front and a fitted kitchen area to the rear with under-stair storage space. TV with freeview in the living area and good wifi provided throughout. Central heating throughout with a thermostat for easy control in the living room area. Upstairs, the bathroom has a bath and overhead shower. A clothes airer is available (useful for drying walking gear) as is a clothes spinner for really getting the moisture out!

There is now Wi-Fi available at the cottage which you are very welcome to use during your stay. All the details can be found on the back of the router in the main room. Dogs are generally welcome at the cottage, though please get in touch to confirm that you would like to bring your pet with you.

Getting around

The cottage is ideally situated in the heart of Sedbergh, making many of the local pubs and shops accessible on foot. For book lovers, there are many bookshops less than 10 minutes from the cottage by foot, including the huge Westwood Books on Long Lane. It is also a great starting point for many walks around the local area including Winder, Cautley Spout and Akay Forest (via the Pepperpot). We do recommend visiting with a car as it allows a greater degree of flexibility when exploring around the Dales and the Lake District. There are buses and local taxi firms should you wish to visit other towns in the area such as Kirkby Stephen and Kendal. Information is available from the Visit Sedbergh website.

Interaction with guest

Keys will be made available for collection on the arrival date of your stay. Please let us know when you plan on arriving. The owners of the cottage do not live locally but we have a contact in the local area who is available in emergency situations, otherwise Rachel the property manager is available on the phone number provided. Just ask if you have any questions about the local area or want a recommendation for things to do whilst in Sedbergh.

“Stable Cottage”

Reviewed 19 Apr 2022

Stayed in Sedbergh umpteen times in different accommodation and different parts of the town. All have their plus points. What is great about Stable Cottage is the location. You literally come out the front door and you are less than 10 steps away from main street but close enough to greenery for a fussy dog who won't do her business on concrete. (and I don't mean the church which is directly opposite and a welcome view from the bedroom window.) The cottage itself is self contained, warm cosy and clean and the upstairs is bright and airy thanks to the addition of skylights on the landing and in the bathroom. We truly had a delightful stay and thank you to Pippa the lovely landlady who allowed us to stay past our departure time to take a work call
