Response from the owner Thank you for the title, “Fine House in a Fine setting” however we were surprised and disappointed to receive the rest of your review. Our cleaning team reported that shortly after 2 pm on the Saturday they were startled to firstly hear then see a Mercedes, with a lot of wheel spin, coming up the drive. The cleaning team drive various vehicles up the drive and have never had any issue. They reported to us that the elderly couple who got out of the car said that they had booked Ardfyne. They apologised for being very early but asked if it would it be possible to sit on the couch in the decked area at the front of the house. The cleaners said that they were welcome to sit but the cleaning of the house was not complete as it is a 4pm access. We do not understand the comments on beds. As can be seen from our photographs a number of the beds are heavy oak beds, there is a contemporary metal bed in the upstairs double and the twin room has wooden beds with leather headboards. We are also puzzled that according to the booking there were only 4 adults and a child as guests so there was considerable choice in which bedroom and which beds to use. In addition all the mattresses have been replaced within the last year. We do understand that guests have different preferences with regard to mattresses so we have chosen from a medium to firm range. Over the last 8 years our 69 excellent reviews on this holiday site indicate that guests have been delighted with Ardfyne and its facilities.

“Wonderful house, amazing location”

Reviewed 4 Jul 2021

We had a fantastic fortnight at Ardfyne (5 adults, 3 generations + 2 dogs). Ella was really helpful before/during/after. Very fast and helpful responses. The house was immaculate on our arrival. It is incredibly well equipped for comfort, cooking, socialising etc. Beds are extremely comfortable, living areas and sofas too, and the baths/showers were great with loads of hot water for all. Beautiful gardens as well. But the best of all was the upstairs living area with amazing views over the loch. The local shop is amazingly well stocked. Friday fish & chips were great. We walked the dogs almost every day over at Castle Lachlan/Inver, and also most days we did one of the walks at Glenbranter. Loch Fyne oyster bar, Inveraray (the George), Tighnabruich, and the inn at Loch Eck are also recommended. Benmore botanic gardens was worth two trips. Ardkinlas gardens was also fabulous, wish we'd had more time! Puck's Glen is beautiful. Creggans Inn is within easy walking distance and the food and service are great. TIP: Worth going left instead of right on the way to Dunoon; go through Kilmun and Strone to Blairmore. Absolutely wonderful new cafe, with quaint & quirky gardens nearby. Overall, the wonderful property made this a fantastic holiday. And the sights, walks and restaurants are a great bonus.

“Relaxing weekend”

Reviewed 6 Apr 2019

We loved our weekend away at Ardfyne. The house is in a quiet location with great views from the upper floor. The owners have provided everything you would need for a gathering of up to 10 people. The bedrooms are all spacious with three being en-suite, was just perfect for us. The kitchen is also great as it is large enough and also having two full size ovens and an American style fridge freezer combined with under worktop fridge and freezer meant plenty of space for food for 10 people. There’s not a lot to do in the village but the Creggans is very relaxed, very dog and baby friendly, had great food and was just a 25 minute walk away. We have stayed in many ‘holiday homes’ in Scotland and abroad, none of them being ‘perfect’ but Ardfyne was very clean, spacious, bright, welcoming with great views and whilst there were a few wee things that could be upgraded I feel the owners have put a lot of thought into what people want most and ticked all those boxes. We had a great weekend!
