Description

Cnocachanach Cottage is a recently refurbished traditional stone cottage situated in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty (Knapdale) on the west coast of Scotland. It's located within the beautiful Ardpatrick Estate, with numerous walks starting right at the front door. Since it sits on a single-track no through-road, there's almost no traffic around making it an incredibly peaceful location. The village of Tarbert (just North of Kintyre), where there are shops, good restaurants, art galleries and sailing facilities, is just 15km away. The award-winning Kilberry Inn is just 10 minutes drive away.

Finished to a high standard, Cnocachanach Cottage provides one double bedroom (with en-suite) and an open-plan kitchen and living area with a wood burning stove.

“A week in a wee cottage”

Reviewed 17 Oct 2021

We spent a week in October here, it’s a lovely wee cottage in a very quiet beautiful area. The cottage it’s self is small but adequate. It’s lovely and warm due to thick walls. It has everything you need for a break away but the most special part is the area which is stunning. Yes it’s remote but only 20 mins from Tarbert village. Yes there is no mobile reception but that’s the point in going there. It’s has wifi for basic web which is a bonus. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

“Lovely cottage in stunning location”

Bob's cottage is cosy and has all necessary amenities as long as you are prepared for a quiet time, which we were. It is located in a beautiful, remote corner of Argyll with coast and walks from the door. Lots of useful info about the area provided. We had a great stay, thank you!

“So peaceful.”

Reviewed 12 Sep 2016

My hubby and I enjoyed a weeks holiday in this beautiful little cottage in early September. Ten miles from the nearest village, so very quiet, with only the occasional passing car during the day. Bliss waking in the morning to the sound of silence. I could hear birds, waves and wind thorough the trees when outside. The cottage was very comfortable, with a well equipped kitchen. The bathroom and shower was lovely. Unfortunately the bed was not at all comfortable, with small, thin mattress that seemed too small for the bed as the frame showed and was easy to knock into. The bed was also too short for both of us; being 5 foot 11" and our feet touched the bed end. Not good! The bed also had a sheet that was plastic lined. Probably good for cleanliness but not good on a hot summer night! A new divan bed would be much better for the room!. The cottage was beautifully decorated and kitted out in a comfortable, modern ,country style. We loved the choice of films, and had a few snuggly evenings on the leather sofa watching some. Apart from the bed, we both loved it.

Response from the owner Hi Sue - thanks again for staying with us and sorry you found the bed uncomfortable. We chose the bed style in keeping with the cottage feel - a divan would be a bit out of place. The mattress is actually a (very expensive!) standard thickness mattress. It's difficult to get a mattress that suits everyone which is why we layer a couple of toppers onto it. We'd assumed guests would "mix-and-match" the layers, removing what they don't want to get something that suits, but we'll make that more explicit. I'm 6' 2" and have found the bed length fine, but having said all that we're planning to change it for next season anyway. Thanks again, Bob.
