Description

L'Oustal du Viaur is a recently renovated farm complex on the edge of a small rural hamlet perched high up above the Viaur Gorge on the Tarn/Aveyron border. The area is perfect for walking, cycling, painting, birdspotting, flora + fauna, siteseeing, fishing or just relaxing. There are many local activities to suit children of all ages.

The farm complex gives a real feel of rural france and is the ideal place to un-wind. Set close to the Cathar region of the Pays d'Oc the local area is steeped in History just waiting to be explored.

The shared swimming pool is open when the weather permits, usually from May to October and is shared with the owners. All bedlinen, towels and swim towels are included in the rental price. Special walking/cycling/painting holidays are available during low/mid season. Changeover day is Sat but this is flexible during mid/low season to enable clients to make best use of very low budget flight prices. Please contact owners for further details.

The house is entered via a private patio area which has a table and seating for 6. A BBQ is provided and a sun canopy with outside lighting ensuring the perfect ambience for al fresco dining. Views from this patio are stunning and stretch for miles over the surrounding area. Through the front door you enter the large kitchen diner. The kitchen is fitted to a very high standard with separate freezer and fridge, dishwasher, microwave, electric oven and gas hob with extractor. It is fully stocked to enable full cooking facilities including over work-top lighting.

Through the kitchen is the salon providing a lovely cool area to relax with ample seating for 6. Just off the salon is the hydro-wet room + WC, providing a new experience in bathing and relaxation. Up the restored chestnut staircase leading from the kitchen you reach the two large bedrooms and family bathroom. The large master bedroom is full of character and offers a relaxing calm environment. Built-in wardrobe and enclosed shelving provide ample room to get all your luggage tucked away. (There is plenty of space for an infant cot or 2!). The second bedroom is fitted with 3 single beds, 2 chest of drawers and a large fitted wardrobe. Both bedrooms have lovely views across the countryside. The modern tiled bathroom has a full size bath, sink and WC.

The farm complex is large and is situated on the edge of a small hamlet overlooking the Viaur valley. The grounds and pool are shared with the other two gites and the resident English owners. A large 12x6m swimming pool was added to the property in summer 2006 and is completed with fencing to comply with French regulations. The views from the pool side are beautiful.

Despite being a shared complex, there is plenty of space for privacy. Older visiting children may use residents adventure playground which is situated below the pool, younger visitors can make full use of the toddler area located in the main grounds.

Getting around

You do need to have a car as we are in the countryside. There is a train locally which links Rodez to Toulouse if you feel like ditching the car and travelling by train instead. To be recommended if you want to visit central Toulouse.

Interaction with guest

We live on site and are happy to help when you need us, but have our own private patio and will keep out of your way when you are settled and enjoying your holiday.
