“Excellent stay at Smithy Cottage” We really enjoyed our stay at Smithy Cottage. The location for our requirements was excellent, as some of the party wanted to climb mountains and some wanted to stay local. All the facilities at the cottage were excellent. We had a meal at the pub down the road which again was excellent, and would certainly recommend this.

“Fantastic Rental Cottage” We stayed at Swallow's nest for our anniversary in Sept 11. The interior was finished to a very high standard, it was like staying in a 5 star hotel. The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed buying the amazing produce of the lake district and cooking it up back at the cottage, enjoying the views as we ate. The location is good, close to Penrith town centre, and good transport links into the Lake District. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely come back.

“Spacious, clean and well positioned holiday home” Hunter's Chase is a large, modern well equipped house, ideally positioned for visiting the Northern Lake District. We visited with a large, mixed age group of 9 from an 8 year old to Grandad in his 80s. All of the bedrooms were well appointed with plenty of storage space. A total of 4 bathrooms plus a downstairs cloakroom meant there were no arguments or queues for the toilet! The two main bedrooms were equipped with large flat screen tvs as well as the lounge. We also made good use of the wi-fi in the house. The kitchen was newly fitted and very well equipped with every type of crockery, cutlery and cooking implement you might require as well as a dishwasher and a large fridge freezer. It's located in a lovely village (although we never tried the pub) with the actual position being very quiet with views over fields and a large garden good for playing ball games. Pooley Bridge nearby has several pubs and a lovely beach by the river and Penrith, also not far away, is a traditional market town with facilities including a swimming pool, cinema and the normal array of supermarkets.

“A great holiday!” The cottage was great, very clean and tidy with all that was needed to make our stay enjoyable. It was in a very quiet place which suited us fine. There was only one thing that we didn't like and that was the rather dark lounge it could have done with another window in it. Even with the lights on it was not much better. But overall the cottage was great and we would certainly recommend it to others. We only saw the lady on the first day but she was pleasant and helpful. We left early on the Saturday so everyone was still in bed.

“Would definitely stay again!” We had a great stay here over New Year 2013. Excellent location, great house with lots of amenities such as cooking utensils, kitchen towel and tea towels, bedding, TV, dishwasher and tablets, washing machine and detergent, a torch (for late night walks to the pub), 2 bathrooms and downstairs loo, and ample parking space for our 4 cars! We only have a couple of suggestions: we would have liked some hand soap in the bathrooms, a ladle in the kitchen would have been handy (we bought a peeler and left it there for the next guests :-) ) and also the downstairs patio windows leaked an awful amount of water so the carpet around the window was completely sodden (if we forgot about this, it ended up with some rather wet socks but I am sure this is being fixed, we were probably just unlucky). These are definitely not complaints and didn't spoil our stay one bit! We would most definitely recommend the house and would stay again. We had a great time!! Also the pub in Morland was great on New Years Day too! Thanks a lot

“Great location for a perty” 14 friends helped me celebrate my 50th birthday at Melmerby Hall and a great time was had by all. This is a great perty house. The house is both spacious well equipped with anything you might need the house has a comfortable feel to it and all the bedrooms were of a good standard Jilly provided dinner on the Saturday night. The food was both plentiful and to a high standard On recommendation from Christine we went for a lunch to the Crown at Kirkoswald and again found a great welcome and good food

“Weekend at Elk Cottage” Having stayed once before at Stag cottage, we had an idea of what to expect from Elk Cottage and the service from Christine and Jilly. We were not disappointed We arrived at the small village of Glassonby but were unable to locate the cottage, a quick phone call and Jilly was soon on the scene guiding us to the cottage As in Stag cottage the conversion is stunning, tastefully done with high quality fittings and attention to detail That attention to detail transfers through into the service you receive, with the fridge well stocked as well as a hamper with lots of quality goodies. In the living room you will find a log burner which is all prepared, which is great after a hard days walking in the beautiful countryside. We opted for the walk to Lacy's Caves and long Meg, which is a nice walk, mostly flat so not too taxing, though I'm not sure about 5.5 mile, though its possible that we went a longer route We find it hard to see past the cottages at Rowley Estate and cant wait to try our next booking at Riverain. I will post a review after that visit in July
