Description from owner

Description

Welcome to Maisonneuve in one of our three beautifully restored, traditional French cottages. In the very heart of the Dordogne, South West France. Nestled on the side of a valley, all properties offer breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. Set in 3 acres of land, at the end of a quiet country lane, there is no traffic and no noise, allowing you to enjoy the spectacular surroundings without distraction. All three cottages have been restored to a very high standard, retaining their rustic charm while still offering you all the home comforts you will need for your stay. From the wide oak floors and original stone walls, to the beautifully renovated wooden worktops, each house has bags of charm and character that will make your stay with us truly special. Le Phénix (65m2) is a lovingly restored (2013) cottage full of charm and character. Originally a barn, it has been renovated to a very high standard. With a mixture of the old and the new, it has a bright and light feel to it but still retains many of its old features, such as the traditional stone walls, oak beams and a fabulous bread oven. With 2 large double bedrooms, a fully equipped open plan kitchen, comfortable sitting area and a spacious bathroom, this holiday home would suit 2 couples or a family with up to 2 children. Outside, Le Phénix has very big garden, a private wooden in ground plunsh pool ( 4.20 diam. ) and a sunny terrace with outdoor dining area. Where you can sit with a glass of wine on a warm summers evening and enjoy the spectacular views of the valley and the surrounding countryside.

Attached to the property is a playground for the little guests.

“Perfect holiday week”

Reviewed 23 Jul 2018

What a fabulous week of lazy holidaying! We loved the property, comfort, views and the peace. Few tourists in the local area made it even better. We had an idyllic week's holiday and are keen … More

Response from the owner I am happy you enjoyed your stay. The few tourists in the nearby surrounding are indeed remarkable. Specially because the house is located in the very heart of the Dordogne with all its breathtaking beauty. For the next time: bienvenue!

“A relaxing getaway”

Reviewed 22 Sep 2013

We stayed here for a week and found it a comfortable and cosy base from which to explore the broader Midi Pyrenees, though the more interesting parts of the region are not on the doorstep. The sound of the crickets was all that disturbed the night air and there was a pleasant view of the valley from the front door. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen area contained everything needed for a self-sufficient stay. A map, as well as the written directions, would have been useful as it is a bit out of the way and difficult to find. A nice place to stay if you are in the area.

Response from the owner I am sorry the navigation was not enough to bring you swiftly to Le Phénix. To avoid this I will make written directions, like you suggested. And yes, the Dordogne is big and one can spent many miles to see everything. But luckely highlights as Lascaux, Montignac, Sarlat, Perigueux, Les Eyzies, most of the caves and many castles are in one hour drive. Greetings from the happy crickets because the whole week (24 September) messures around 80F.

“Great mixture of classic and modern elements with a fabulous hillside view”

Reviewed 29 Jul 2013

My girlfriend and I stayed for a couple of days and immediately fell in love with the fantastic view of the hilly landscape. The modern kitchen was a pleasure to cook in, the meals enjoyed on the outside terrace with a view of the hills. There's a large garden in the back that provides both lots of sun and shade, which can be most welcome on the sunny July days. The downstairs bedroom is comfortably cool during the night and we enjoyed a quiet and undisturbed sleep with only the sound of birds in the morning. There's even an old bread oven that gives the place a nice rustic ambience! We will definitely come back another time!

Response from the owner Thank you very much for your kind words. Because Le Phénix is brand new I am very happy you appreciate it as much as I do. And of course you are most welcome to come back. You know a short brake in off season is possible as well? Truff markets in January for example? Impressive colorful autumn? Au revoir
