Description from owner

Description

Trevillett Mill offers self catering holiday accommodation exclusively set in the beautiful Rocky Valley and a short walk to the sea. Nestling between Tintagel and Boscastle on the north Cornwall coast, Port Isaac, Padstow and many other renown holiday destinations are just a short drive away.

Full of character, the Mill is a unique and fantastic place to be away from it all, but at the same time be at the heart of a land full of mystery, myth and legend, and of course, dramatic Cornish coastline.

This 15th-century Grade II listed former watermill is set within its own 6 acres of land, exclsuively in Rocky Valley. The Mill house itself was built in 1472 and was made famous by Thomas Creswick, whose painting `The Valley Mill' hung in the Royal Academy exhibition of 1851. It is less than five minutes' walk to the sea and a further 10 minutes walk to a delightful beach.

The mill comfortably sleeps from 6 to 12 in 6 separate bedrooms and guests staying at The Mill can still see much of the original workings that have been preserved much as they were hundreds of years ago with slate floors, oak beams and a complete waterwheel. The charming gardens of The Mill are a delight, the extensive decked area joining the Mill provides a perfect place to sit, relax and barbecue, whilst enjoying the sights and sounds of the millstream running by.

Getting around

There are many beautiful walks straight from the Mill and both Tintagel and Boscastle are walkable along the coast path. Otherwise, the easiest way to get around is by car, but please be aware that many of the local roads are narrow. There is a bus service that runs from Wadebridge to Bude via Tintagel and Boscastle. The bus will stop at the top of the driveway if going to Boscastle and in the layby opposite if going towards Tintagel. You need to put your hand out to get the bus (Western Greyhound) to stop. To get to Boscastle, the bus gets to Rocky Valley at 45 minutes past the hour and 5 minutes past the hour headed towards Tintagel (Mon to Sat). The Visitor Centre in Tintagel can provide up-to-date timetables.

Interaction with guest

Tracy will welcome you to Trevillett Mill, hand you keys and orientate you to the Mill and local area (should you wish that?). Whilst not staying on-site, Tracy will be on-call to assist should the need arise.

The most delightful mill house. Full of original character and very carefully restored. Amazing family home, ideal for young children with lots of space. Kitchen/dining area is just perfect for entertaining friends and family with everything you could possible need. Beautiful grounds and the local walks are on the doorstop. Patrick the host provided lots of very useful info and guidance and quickly responded to any requests. We holiday let regularly and this has got to be one of the best yet. Would highly recommend.
