Description from owner

Description

Millknock Farm is a 200 year old farmhouse which is not your standard self-catering holiday cottage. With six bedrooms sleeping up to twelve people in ten separate beds, plus a travel cot for one infant, a kitchen table big enough to seat twelve, and a large garden, it is the perfect place for a group of friends, extended family, or a couple of families to get together for a self-catering holiday. The house is located close to the extensive sandy beaches of County Wexford in Ireland’s Sunny South East, and is available to rent as a holiday home year round. All of our guests are welcomed personally by the owners on arrival at the cottage. A welcome pack containing a sample pot of our homemade jam and a dozen freshly baked scones, along with tea, coffee, sugar, milk and butter, waits inside the house.

Getting around

The house is located on one of Wexford's designated cycle routes, between Rosslare and Kilmore Quay. A lockable shed is included with the property for secure storage of bicycles. There is a pub and restaurant within easy walking distance, the beach, Tacumshane Lake and Our Lady's Island Lake can all be reached on foot, along with 3 of the sights on the Norman Way Heritage trail. Taxi and mini-bus hire are available in the area for nights on the town. Booking is essential for these services, please enquire for details before you arrive. There are no regular public transport services in the area, so a car really is the only way to see most of the sights!

Millknock farmhouse is an ideal house for a large family group, with plenty of space and all the necessary equipment. Our host, Gavin, was very helpful and also provided a detailed information folder, as well as fresh scones and homemade jam. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area, including some lovely beaches nearby.

“Excellent Holiday Home”

Reviewed 10 Jun 2018

Hello, Let me start with Mr. Gavin, the owner of this property. He is very helpful from the booking towards the end of our stay at Millknock Farm. His response for my messages and queries were very quick and detailed. On the arrival to the house, we were welcomed by Mr. Gavin, who lives in the next building. A detailed introduction were given about the facilities of the houses and about the shops nearby. A tray full of fresh Garden strawberries, Home made Scones and fresh Butter from his own farm were kept on the big dining table for our refreshment. Miliknock farm is a very big house which gave more than enough space for our team of 6 adults and 6 kids. Kitchen is very big. Dining table is big enough for 12 people. Bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. Very big bathrooms and toilets and all places were kept very neat and clean. Towels and quilts were spotless. Information leaflets and a detailed map were provided at the entrance hall and that is a great help to know the main attractions of Wexford and food outlets. The well kept play area on the front side was a paradise to our kids. Strong slings and slide were there for smaller kids. A football post is provided for senior kids and adults. We spend most our daytime there with our kids playing football and other games. More toys were kept in the toy box and you can enjoy the day without worrying kids disturbing you. You may have to spare some 2 euro coins to pay the electricity. But don't worry electricity is very cheap here. 4 nights and 5 days cost us only 9.00 euros. You may take kitchen tissues and toilets tissues with you as the house provides no fill ups. A few more glasses of the same size (for both wine and hot drinks) would have provide great ambiance to the dining table. The nearest grocery shop is 4 km far from the house, but you can find a decent Pub were you can take your family within a walking distance. Thank you Gavin for the farm made fresh lactose and for the farewell pack of strawberries. You are a wonderful host. Our 12 member group found Millknock farm is a wonderful base for exploring Wexford. I will strongly recommend Millknock farm for a peaceful and calm and bit remote holiday yet not too far from a beautiful busy town. Thank you "Holiday Letting company for help us to find such a nice place to spend our holidays regards Cherian Irimpan

Response from the owner Thanks very much for taking the time to write a review, and I am glad you enjoyed your stay. I am very sorry that there were not enough glasses for you. I do try to ensure that there are at least 12 of each kind of glass, but I may have miscounted or simply forgotten to leave replacements in the house that week. With a tiled floor in the kitchen glasses are broken regularly and I keep a stock of spares at my own house. I don't charge for replacements, so should you stay with us again please do ask! We do listen to suggestions, and kitchen paper and extra toilet paper are certainly things that we will look into providing next year. Thanks again, Gavin

“Perfect for a family get together.”

Reviewed 22 Mar 2018

We (12 of us) only stayed for a long weekend, the farm house was just perfect. clean spacious, with quite surroundings. The large kitchen lent itself nicely to the adults eating, drinking and spending quality time together. the living room was an ideal base for the children to play and watch tv , the bedrooms are large enough and with 2 shower rooms, and a bathroom there was no que in the morning.. the beach at Carne is worth a visit, as is Kllmore Quay, Butlers and the lobster pot restaurant. Thank you Gavin for allowing us to stay, just wish it could have been longer.
