This is our 6th trip to akumal, always at Nicte Ha. The location is perfection. Cooled by the Carribean breeze, perched on a coral bluff, pool Oceanside with great outdoor space to soak the sun and relax in bliss. Major upgrades to the property. Mari and Jose take care of everything in the light, security at night. Great food, snorkeling a short walk away, and fantastic ruins, shopping and riviera theme parks a short drive. This place is heaven for those looking to try a different path.

I absolutely love staying at this villa when visiting akumal. Everything you could possibly need is at your fingertips. The kitchen is stocked full of every dish, tupperwear, pot, pan you could need. The pool is cleaned daily. My only complaint is that I couldn't stay a month instead of just a week!

Nicte-Ha is the most perfect get away villa. It has a perfect location halfway between Turtle Bay and Half Moon Bay for water activities and dining. The villa is complete in every way. You will want for nothing! The pool was amazing and the rooftop terrace was great for viewing sunsets.

We rented Nicte-Ha and Casa Del Mar next door for a friend's 60th Birthday.
Everyone had an great time, the house is perfect for enjoying everything akumal has to offer.
Would recommend it highly to anyone heading to the Mayan Riviera. -

This is my second time visiting this sweet little town of akumal and staying in this gorgeous house and I hope it will not be my last as it is my favorite vacation spot I have found in mexico.
The house itself: Every bedroom has a stunning view of the ocean. The house has had some recent tasteful cosmetic renovations and although it may look contemporty from the outside, it has old world charm with its decor and elaborate bathroom/kitchen tiling on the inside. The beds are actually comfortable and there are strong aC units if that is your preference or fans are in every room to work with the oceanic breeze. The kitchen is well equipped and had enough service dishes and cookware to cook and serve up to 10-15 people. The house staff are extremely helpful, friendly, trustworthy, and did a great job of cleaning and restoring complete order back to the house daily! A bonus is that there is 24 hour security on site which just adds to one's ability to relax.
Location: Nicte Ha is a four minute bike ride or an 8 min walk to snorkel with the abundant sea turtles in one direction (turtle bay) or almost equal distance the other direction to snorkel or swim in the colorful reef in akumal bay. Restaurants and festive bars (e.g. buena vida!) are also within that same walking distance. Akumal itself is located in between Cancun and Tulum. There are easy day trips to Mayan ruins or cenotes.
Relaxation: My favorite part of this vacation in between snorkeling with the huge turtles, happy hour at buena vida down the street, or watching the sunset on the upper deck was relaxing at the house by the pool on the ocean under the polapa reading a book, watching the iguana eat the fruit we laid out for him or just listening to the waves. Sweet simple yet decadent paradise.

this was my third stay at nicte-ha. i cant say enough good things! fantastic house, excellent location, amazing, attentive staff. akumal is a lovely gem on the riviera maya, and this house has everything one could ask for to ensure a wonderful holiday. i cant wait to go back! thank you nicte-ha and staff for yet another unforgettable time to this beautiful part of the world!

We are seasoned akmua-laholics! I have been going to akumal before akumal had any Vacation Rentals. I usually stayed at the Casitas or Cannon House, early on, until I found Nicte-Ha. I walked in the door on an evening of a Lunar Eclispe. Opening the door, and looking straight ahead to the stairs, a huge landing window.There it was the SuperMoon over the Caribe. Nicte-Ha, had me at Hello.
My master bedroom at Nicte-Ha was a hideaway, for serenity. My kids had to pry me out of this room. The sea surrounded me on three sides. I was one with the sea up there. I layer on the bed, and watched the moon rise over the sea. Every window and glass door in this room has surround view of the sea. It seems like your on a ship, only better, you simply lay in the bed.
The kitchen window as every window North East and South, views the sea, moon and sun. So if your cooking, dining, or laying on the couch, yes, views of Moon, Sun, and Sea.
The bedrooms all are spacious. Bathroom for every bedroom, with yes the moon , sun and Sea views while showering! Comfy and wonderful living room, with TV, movies or better yet iPod speakers, because the sounds, and home are best with the natural, with a few of your favorite Tunes. There is a great movie collection if you want though. Books!! A library of wonderful books.
I have many friends in akumal, and families that come when I do. Throwing a dinner party in Nicte-Ha is lovely. The dining area opens to the pool area, so I could set up both the pool and the dining room table. Candles, music, great food, wonderful friends mingling through out Nicte-Ha, is impressive, but then there is yeah, The Moon viewed rising from both dining tables, inside and out.
The pool, many evenings, I lay under the stars at the pool, watching shooting stars and of course La Luna.
The house was designed to get maximum views and it was designed well, actually perfectly.
The kitchen is well stocked with good kitchenware and complete.
My teenage daughter, loves the "nook" as she calls it, at the end of the living room, with it's own glass doors, that well yeah you guessed it, the Sea, The Moon, The sun, with a lovely Tapestry of a Sea Turtle, built in Couches, that she loved, and marked as her "spot".
We enjoyed breakfast on the front porch immersed in the front garden, which is an amazing tropical garden.
I could go on with Nicte-Ha, like Izzy-belle our mama Iguana, and her children, that live in the back yard, but I'll let you see for yourself. If it's the whole Immersion of the atmosphere of akumal you are looking for, there are no more dramatic views than Nicte-Ha in akumal. If it's comfort and relaxation you want, Nicte-Ha. If you are a gourmet cook, a party thrower, or a honeymooner, or a huge family, You will find what you are looking for at Nicte-Ha. I just got back from enjoying a week vacation in akumal. This was my eight time to akumal and I have stayed at a variety of villas and condos. This was my first time having the pleasure of staying at Nicte-Ha.
What a wonderful villa! The bedrooms are spacious and the master bed had the most comfortable mattress. (Something you don't always count on when staying in Mexico) The bathrooms were also spacious and very up to date and recently renovated. All conveniences are there for you...hair dryer, big soft, fluffy towels and a glass container of purified water in each bathroom.
The kitchen was of good size and there was anything and everything you might need to make any meal...or frozen drink. Plenty of glasses, bowls, tupperwear, etc. The blender really rocks! (Bananas, pineapple, kiwi and Vodka...yum!) Once you are finished, the housekeeper cleans up everything.
The pool area was amazing! Each day you are greeted by Iggy the Iguana. I did not find the pool area to be dangerous or slick. It reminded me of many pools areas I have been at while staying at resorts in Mexico, Jamaica or St. Croix. The pool is clean and the water cool. Every day a man came to clean it and make sure it was perfect. Security around the house was solid. Even at night a security person would make his rounds to make sure everything was safe.
Top things to do in akumal: Yal-Ku for Snorkeling ( go early), La Buena Vida for happy hour...and beyond, La Lunita and Turtle Bay for akumal playa dining, Margaritaville for akumal pueblo dining, and Tulum for history.

This place is absolutely fantastic! I highly recommend! The views are outstanding! We hung out on the uber comfy beach recliners and watched dolphins playing one day! There's so much room...2 huge master bedroom suites upstairs, each with it's own huge bathroom and set of bunkbeds and private balcony overlooking the gulf! Plus a main floor bedroom with two beds and it's own full bathroom. The spacious living room with it's wall of windows overlooking the pool and water is delightful. Anything you want or need is also there at your fingertips from water shoes to the margarita blender:) There's outdoor seating in the front and in the back and a shady chalupa with hammocks to swing away your cares while listening to the water pound the shoreline. Also private, unlike the condos with tons of people on top of you. Great place to rent with two families and grandparents for the downstairs bedroom would be perfect.

We have been staying at Nicte Ha for the past 6 years. The house is lovely, but dated. It was a gem in the past, but has weathered hurricanes and many rental seasons without updates. The tile bathrooms are chipped and worn. The staff enthusiasm has waned. The a/c upstairs and down needs to be replaced, and when management is called for insufficient cooling, this is what they will say, sorry. Security is comforting, except when someone steals 40 coins for kid diving from the pools edge overnight. The pool remains beautiful, but the outdoor tiles are sooo slippery when wet. Only learning by hard falls teaches the children about the pool hazard.
The home remains perfectly located, and a wonderful respite, but sadly, I think this was our last visit.Response from Akumal Direct Reservations - 10/24/2011

Thanks so much for the reveiw. As always we appreciate all feedback. Per your review we have checked into the AC system which is working fine. In the tropics in the summer, sometimes the best AC systems are overwhelmed on the hottest and most humid days. However, we have begun the process of replacing the current systems with new mini-split systems.
We have also checked in with our other guests and the staff seems as great as ever. We have always been very happy with our staff and are sorry to hear that you don't seem totally satisfied.
The staff does collect coins and other small objects which may damage the drain and filter system of the pool. We apologize for the miscommunication. We do always try to remind our guests that all pool decks are slippery when wet. Following your review we have had added signs as a reminder to parents that they should keep an eye out for children running around the pool.

Great house. Had everything we needed. Perfect location. Loved the Iguanas on the property. Only negative was the house needed to be aired out when we got there(no biggie) and the oily feeling floor cleaner that was used every day kept us from letting our soon to be toddlers from crawling on the floor. i know it is needed for sand though. Would stay there again gladly.

Thank you for staying at NIcte Ha! Your suggestions about airing out the house and changing the floor cleaner has been sent to management. The maid does mop with Fabuloso to control the sand. Managment has been asked to turn on the air conditioning units prior to guest arrival to reduce humidity.
