“Gorgeous relaxing Caribbean villa” Everything that past reviewers have said about Casona Palms is true. It is truly a Caribbean paradise, private, secluded, quiet, and absolutely beautiful. The atmosphere encourages you to sit still and relax while soaking in the gorgeous view of the sea and listening to the wind rustle in the coconut palms. The beach is kept raked clean by the caretakers, the kayaks are ready for your use, and the lounge chairs await you and a good book. The house is pristine, tasteful, and more than comfortable. Michael the owner provided us with extremely helpful and complete information on the house and surrounding area, including great driving directions. We enjoyed trips to the village of Majahual, quiet and lazy when the cruise ships are not in, but more shops are open on cruise ship days. You can occupy a table on the beach and slip in the water for a swim between margaritas. There is a great pescaderia that sells fish and lobster fresh off the boats every afternoon. Ask around for antonio the owner. We enjoyed an excursion to the stunning Mayan ruins of Chocchoban. We went on a day when the cruise ships were not in and had the entire place to ourselves. We spent a couple days with Nick Denbow, a delightful local fishing guide and British expat. The men in our group went bone fishing with him one day on a nearby lagoon, and our entire group went bird and wildlife watching with him on the border between Mexico and Belize. We experienced dozens of stingrays swimming past our boats and leaping in the air in the Chetumal Bay and were thrilled by gentle giant manatees approaching our boat in the river. I can recommend Casona Palms without hesitation.

“15 days by the sea” A very special place this Casa del Cielo de las Estrellas. Far from the crowded areas, close enough to the village of Mahahual for basic shopping, with a private enchanted beach, the house has pretty much everything you need. Don't expect luxury, but good taste in interior and exterior decorating is everywhere. You'll have that warm feeling of being in a good place. The house is not big but we never felt like we needed more space (I have to mention that, for one week, 3 friends came along and joined us). No conditioned air, but the windows were open almost all the time (don't worry about bugs, there are screens at every single window) and that was enough to cool down the place even at 40 C outside. The breeze from the sea was almost perpetual and it made a big difference. Things to do around there: swim and snorkel right in front of your house, go visit the myriad of Mayan ruins, fish and cook your capture (even I was able to catch fish), go kayaking, look for sea shells and marine snails. Or just sit on one of the 3 terraces or under the palapa just nearby the shore line and have a drink or a cup of tea. Regarding activities, Rudolf's Internet site is a gold mine data wise. And he'll answer your questions in no time. You'll love the taste of the fresh fruits there (don't hesitate one moment to buy them from the vendors on the side of the highways) and, if you're not very swanky, you'll like the local made cheese and ham as well. We ate 2 or 3 times at the local restaurants and a few other times outside Mahahual, in little "cocina"s located in small villages. The simple, not very fancy ones, won by far, in my opinion. Anyway, if you're looking for tranquillity and you're trying to get disconnected from today`s world tumult, Casa del Cielo de las Estrellas is the place to be. Did we lack anything while there? Yes: a blender and a shaker! Will we go back? Certainly. If time will allow. That's another thing we lacked there. Whish we could've stayed longer...

“Magical Week in Mahuhual” The house was amazing and the panoramic views from the second level are stunning. We loved the proximity to the beach and town, and the sunsets were from a movie. We loved the adventure of this southern area of Mexico with the luxury of a beautiful beach house on the caribbean to come back to. We felt safe and well taken care of. It was 10 days in paradise and we cannot wait to go back!

“My new favorite place” I was skeptical when I first saw it and google mapped it. However, I went with it anyway and I'M so glad I did. My wife and I went for a week and it was so great to snorkel in peace, relax in peace and go into town and visit the real mexico when we wanted to. We did many different things off the property that were close and amazing. Horseback riding, site seeing and swimming in some Ceynotes. (I'll let you look that one up) The hosts were very nice and helpful. The place was very clean and I've been there twice now. I drove from Cancun the first time - which wasnt bad. Nice to see Mexico on the drive down. On my 2nd visit, I chartered a small 6 passenger plane because my time was so limited - that worked out really well also. I'm not much of a swimmer, but a few minutes on the beach I had the snorkeling figured out and I could have done it all day, everyday. The coral makes the shoreline so fun to snorkel in and around. I would recommend this place to couples and families with children. I've been there with both and we had an amazing time with and without our kids.

YUM BOTIC VILLA 3BR Your Own 213ft Caribbean Beach
A Unique Experience

A vacation at Yum Villa is a completely unique experience, combining raw beauty, breathtaking vistas and a taste of nature with just enough civilization. You are surrounded by magnificent beauty and yet very comfortable with just enough modern conveniences. The house with all its conveniences is airy and open, but gives you a sense of protection. Takes a bit of time to get to but so rewarding when you get there that it is well worth the trip. If you love being immersed in nature while still being comfortable this is a perfect place.see more

Quiet, relaxing, beautiful

I won't repeat content from the many enthusiastic reviews that this place has already received ... all of the raves are true! I would particularly recommend this rental for nature-lovers: bird-watching from the rooftop deck in the morning and evening was aweseome. There are a couple of things people should be aware of: because of the lovely winding staircase, this would not be a good rental for anyone with mobility issues or disabilities. The road from Mahahual can be just atrocious, but it was re-graded while we were there in February 2014. While many property owners keep their beaches clean, there are long stretches of the beach which are terribly littered. If you travel beyond the resorts in the "developing" world, you will know what I mean. But the place is just lovely in so many ways, and Darvey is not only attentive and competent, he's fun and interesting. And the four of us, not huge dog-lovers in general, got totally fond of T and Scooby! We recommend the Travel In for meals, too...very good food! We even ventured to town on a cruise ship day, and it wasn't too crazy.see more

I would go there again

The place is very private and right on the beach which goes on for miles and is full of shells to pick. The accommodations are excellent and there is a new fishing option available now that that looks very inviting. Families will enjoy the homelike setting and trips into the town of Majahaul as well many drive to activities like horseback riding, ruins, and sink holes. For those who want meals cooked for them, that option was available as well. There is of course that wonderful sun that comes out and warms your spirit.see more

A beautiful sancuary at the end of the road...”

I visited the Coral Garden Inn for a week with my husband. The drive is long as if you are going to the end of the road and then appears this beautiful two story home facing the flowing palm trees and the blue green waters of the Carribean. Inside is so easy and comfortable with lots of room, everything you need in the kitchen plus great books and movies. It took me a couple of days to slow down and then I found the groove of this place. I like how the wind blows everything away and the heat of the day feels great against the water. I had never snorkeled before and that was fascinating, especially seeing the underwater desert -like plants and the deep purple coral. The family who caretakes the property is lovely, always helpful and making the outdoors so beautiful with new foliage. It took me getting used to no real village to shop in and instead buy off the fruit truck that came by every few days. It truly is at the end of the road and is a very beautiful place to settle into and be connected to wondrous nature. I would recommend this as a real getaway from anything resembling a fast pace life.see more

Home away from home!

I love The house that sings! The moment my husband and I +7 of our closest friends got there, we all automatically knew this was the plave for us. Every room was nice and clean. The master bed rooms are to die for. Waking up every morning and looking out to the ocean right from the bed is a dream come true. The water while we where their was a bit cloudy but, if you go out and snorkel/scuba its the bluest of blue and full of life. When you book your stay you MUST ask for Sandra to cook. Sandra's food is absolutely wonderful!!! Her chili rellenos are the bees knees! Joe and his wife are kind. We saw them in town and talked for a bit.Actually, everyone is warm and welcoming. I will be coming back to my home away from home. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. ♥ see more

A place of exception

I was delighted to stay at Casona Palms for two weeks with a few friends. We traveled in the region and the wonderful beach house was our headquarters. Where to begin? The house was perfectly clean, very comfortable and provided a fair internet connection. The location features a breathtaking view on the Caribbean Sea and the possibility to travel in the nearby jungle. Snorkeling is an absolute must in the sea just in front of the house; the underwater wildlife is diverse and the constant bright sky is heavenly. Moreover, our neighbor was a fisherman, which allowed us to get fresh fish on a daily basis for a low price. The surrounding areas are also worth seeing. We took rides to fishing villages and great diving spots on many occasions, including the "cenotes" (natural pits, typical in the region) which I strongly recommend. The house is located in the Yucatan peninsula, a historic cradle for pre-Columbian civilizations. Hence we also had the opportunity to visit various well-preserved Mayan sites. Last but not least, the closest village offered all the needed shops to buy food and supplies, as well as animated bars and restaurants. I certainly hope to go back to Casona Palms in the future.see more
