If you are tired of staying in high rises with hundreds of others, then Sandy Shores is for you. It only has 3 units for rent. The owners live on the premises and take great pride in its upkeep. The units and property are very clean and well maintained. It is right on the ocean. It is also close to many restaurants within walking distance. The owners are very helpful. We have stayed there three years in a row and are going back for a fourth year next spring.

Sandy Shores was the perfect place for some much needed rest after working hard all year. We really loved the closeness to the beach - you can just walk there barefeet! I always worry about the comforts of beds when I travel, but our mattress was so comfortable, we slept like babies! The cottage was very clean and well equipped with dishes, pots, pans and towels. The outside area had many places to sit in a sun or shade. The owners, Ned and Myrtle, were so warm and welcoming! Their kindness and hospitality really blessed us. While at Sandy Shores, we really enjoyed eating lunch at the Cafe De Paris. You must stop by and order the Buckwheat pancakes!

What a fantastic place to spend your time at the beach! We love the beach in the Tampa area, and particularly enjoy staying in Indian Rocks Beach. There is so much to do in the area, whether you have kids or not. Our kids are grown now, but always enjoyed the trips we've taken to that area. From major league baseball to aquariums and museums and terrific seafood to beautiful, white sandy beaches and the warm gulf water, Tampa has it all! This year for the first time, my wife and I headed to the coast by ourselves, no kiddos. While looking for a condo unit, we found Ned and Myrtle's Sandy Shores, Gulf Cottage. It's amazing! The cottage is beachfront, having great views from inside and out. The unit is nicely furnished with all the comforts of home, including a king size bed, a HD widescreen television, a great selection of books if you're a reader, high speed internet with wifi, and a fully stocked kitchen. The property has a shared laundry room, and a storage room full of beach chairs to make the beach experience more comfortable. The location is great, near everything you could possibly need as far as restaurants, seafood market, grocery stores, quick marts, pharmacies, etc. Beautiful drives along the coast whether you go north or south. The beach was not over crowded, and there were times when there wasn't another person for 100 yards in either direciton, if privacy is what you're looking for. The grounds are well kept, and have great sitting nooks, tables, and lounge chairs surrounded by beautiful landscaping and shade trees if you need a break from the sun. Ned and Myrtle are great hosts! Ned recommended some great restaurants that we'd never have found if not for his directions, and they are both very personable and fun to be around. While we were never "intruded" on by hosts who live on the premises, they were always available if we had a need, and were always gracious and pleasant. It's obvious that they love their piece of paradise, and they truly enjoyed sharing it with us! Our stay was for 11 nights, and we wish we could have stayed longer. If you like what you're seeing of this property, don't hesitate to book it. We'll be back!!

my family and i were recently lucky enough to stay at sandy shores and cannot wait until we go back. mr. ned and mrs. myrtle were extremely friendly and made us feel instantly at home. the rental we occupied was very clean ( a huge plus to me ) and spacious enough for two adults , two teenagers and a toddler. the halls normally do not have a lot of children ( mostly couples ) yet they took a chance on us and we were extremely happy there. highly recommend to all and hope to get back next year for vacation.

Last year we promised we would come back this year and we did it. We had wonderful 2 weeks and now we promise that we'll visit this little paradies next year also.
A lot has happened since last year. The house got a new paint, Myrtle and Ned did a lot of renovation work everywhere, designed the garden a bit different and planted many of new plants and flowers. It was really worth it.
As I read the reviews I noticed there is no word about sleeping and I think this point is very important, too. We were in the gulf cottage and also in the patio cottage and in both of them we slept like a log. I always have problems with my spinal discs but not when we're there. The beds are marvelous and it's absolut calm.
If you have any questions about where to go eat outside or where to go for a day trip or what ever ... ask Ned. He really knows all.
We love this place and so ... We'll be back !!!
Thank you very much Myrtle and Ned for the kind hospitality ... and certainly ...
for the amazing baseball evening and the lessons. We're sometimes watching baseball on 'Sky-tv' and know a little bit more than before but Werner was the better student ;o)
Best wishes ... take care ... Werner and Doris

Left on 01/06/2012 for a stay in December 2011
Sandy Shores is one of the best places to stay on Indian Rocks Beach. We spent Christmas there in 2011, and had a great time. Ned and Myrtle are very welcoming, warm, and friendly. There is a lot within walking distance, the beach is great, and the unit was just what we were looking for. It is a slice of "old Florida", so it's not like the cold and impersonal huge units you see in Clearwater. Nice and quiet most of the time, it's easy to get around to various places, and the hosts make it very nice to stay here. Book the trip and stay with Ned and Myrtle. You will not regret it.

Excellent place! We stayed in the Gulf Cottage right on the ocean. One of the most laid back places I've been in years. House is beautiful, very clean, and the owners, Ned and Myrtle are very helpful and very kind. We spent Thanksgiving here and there are plenty of great restaurants within walking distance, not to mention donuts and ice cream! The beach out front is uncrowded and quiet, great for relaxing and fishing. Will definately look at coming back to Indian Rocks Beach and Sandy Shores! Thanks Ned and Myrtle.

If an idyllic setting, white sandy beaches and honest hospitality is your idea of a dream vacation, look no further! Hosts Ned and Myrtle Hall offer the answer to your dreams at Sandy Shores, Indian Rocks Beach, Florida. Last week we had the privilege of renting the Gulf Cottage, affectionately called "Grammie's Cottage.” Ned and Myrtle have created an oasis of tranquility. The interior is tastefully decorated and the kitchen is well stocked with all the necessities to fix your own meals. We chose to eat in most nights because the Gulf view from the dining room table couldn't be beat. Stepping out the door we found ourselves in a beautifully maintained tropical garden just steps from the white sandy beach that stretches for miles in both directions. From beach towels to blenders, big screen TV to internet access, Ned and Myrtle provide everything you need to enjoy a vacation you will treasure.

Anderson, SCExactly What We Were Looking For
Left on 08/01/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Our trip to Sandy Shores was wonderful. It was exactly what we were looking for. We love the beach, but in the past few years have gotten frustrated with the commercialized nature of most beaches. We wanted a simple, quiet vacation where it was easy to relax. This place was exactly that. It was impeccably clean, which is definitely a big thing for me since I work at a hospital, and am a little OCD when it comes to cleanliness. Ted and Myrtle live on the property, and were very inviting and informative. Ted told us that while we were staying that we were family, and they make you feel very much at home. The beach only has a handful of people on it at any given time which was a much desired change from the overpopulated beaches we have become accustomed to. If homey relaxation in traditional Florida fashion is what you are looking for, this place is perfect for you...I know it was for us.

We were on honeymoon and after New York City and San Francisco this (too short) week was a wonderful conclusion to a wonderful trip. For me, this place is like paradise. I knew it already and it has once again confirmed, after 12 years. Myrthle and Ned are really very nice and helpful. The other reviews have not exaggerated. Also, it helped us a lot that Myrthle is German and could eliminate some language barriers ;o). So I hope that this review is somewhat understandable, because our English is not the best. The entire holiday was perfect, so we´ll repeat it almost, to our wedding day, will visit New York again, and after Grandma's House ... but then 2 weeks :o))! Has already been scheduled and I can not wait until this long year is over. Many thanks to Myrthle and Ned ... you gave our trip a great degree.
Many regards

This was our 3 year to stay with Ned and Myrtle. The Beach House is beautiful, clean, fully stocked with fresh towels and kitchen supplies. It has been updated with a big, new HD TV ( tons of channels) and carpet. It is truely our home away from home. The location is perfect, beautiful tropical plants surround the grounds, right on the beach! The beach is large and not crowded. Plenty to see and do, centrally located between St, Pete and Clearwater - but not crowded. Ned and Myrtle are wonderful hosts! Always there if you have questions and need anything. We even had a cook out with the neighbors, they treat you like family. Best place to stay with the best hosts. Love to stay there, no people on the other side of the wall or running up and down the halls. We've been spolied and wont stay anywhere else. Thank you for sharing with us!!

From the moment we were welcomed by Ned and Myrtle, we knew we had
found paradise. Their warm hospitality made us feel at home immediately.
The cottage was perfect; impeccably clean and charming. The complex was
so adorable with little alcoves of seating and grilling areas equipped
with quirky little decorations and gorgeous flora. The night time
blooming flowers high in the palm trees were amazing. Not a detail was missed. Ned shared not only his grilled steelhead trout with us but also the recipe. We enjoyed a golf clinic with him and shared time with his guitar and singing. A
short walk through the dunes lies the incredible Indian Rocks Beach with
its crystal clear waters where fish and shells abound. I have traveled a
lot and this is by far one of my favorite places on earth.

Kind of reluctant to share a review because we feel that this is our secret! We had an amazing vacation at Ned and Myrtle's Sandy Shores!! The place is clean and simple with everything you would need. We did a lot of lounging around on their very comfy loungers underneath the shade trees overlooking the Gulf. Sunsets everyday. Perfect location. Comfortable and clean! Ned and Myrtle are so hospitable and easy. They made us feel very welcome and at home. We definitely plan on returning when we have the chance!!
