We have traveled extensively all over the world and always stay in 5-Star accommodations. We loved, loved, loved this place. Beautiful, clean, location is perfect. For the first time in my life, we are considering buying a unit here because we can see us living here in the future. The Ritz is a step down from this place..

We have stayed at Luna Encantada for 3 years in a row now. That's how much we love it. The location is excellent. You are on the beach. The facility is first class.
This year we noticed that the staff was more helpful and more available than the past two years. They did a fantastic job of making us feel welcome and making sure we had everything we needed. Outstanding!
We love being next to Fusion, which we consider to be one of the best places to eat in all of Playa.
We brought some friends this time that had never been to Playa or to Luna. They loved it and want to go back. -

Just completed my 4th stay at Luna Encantada. This is a great condo complex. C3 with the terrace roof top has the best views. The staff on site at Luna is equally as wonderful. Alberto & Benjamin are always very helpful and pleasant to talk with. The young man who sets up chairs, tables on the beach and will take a food or drink order makes this a 5+ stars place to stay. Incredible service that you will not find at most condos.
Thanks Tonya! -

We loved Luna Encantada. The unit was great - very spacious, clean and had a lovely view of the ocean. Before arriving, I was curious as to whether the noise from Fusion Restaurant and Bar would be too loud at night. But we had no problems. In fact my kids loved watching the fire show from the balcony at night. The show is loud but usually takes place at 9:30 on the weeknights and a little later on weekends. The staff at the condo was great - very helpful and friendly. The location of the condo could not be better! Would definitely stay there again.

Port Neches, TXFabulous week in Playa
Left on 07/28/2011 for a stay in July 2011
The condo was really nice!!! We traveled with two older teens and some friends of ours. The view was amazing. We spent nights on the rooftop in the hammocks or out on the balcony, listening to the sounds of the beach. The back rooms seem to be cooler than the master, so if you like it cold...stay in one of those rooms! There was a stinch one day that seemed to come from the shower drain and the utility room, but Benjamin came and fixed the problem immediately. :) There is a night club, Fusion that is right next to the condo. The music is great, but you do hear it until about 2 am. We had the fan on in the master bedroom so it was fine for us, but if you plan on sleeping in the living room, it is pretty loud. Make sure you bring lots of one dollar bills. Playa accepts american money, but will pay you back in pesos. We went to Xcaret, Xplore and on a snorkeling excursion. All were a blast. It was a fun, relaxing vacation!

This condo is very large and well furnished. The view was spectacular from the balcony and especially from the rooftop. The location is right on the beach with a lovely swimming pool. It is located in a quiet complex right in town just a short walk to the stores and restaurants. Overall you can't ask for a nicer and more relaxing place to stay in Playa.

Left on 06/22/2011 for a stay in June 2011
We have stayed here before and had no problems. There is now a drainage problem with the master shower that caused a stink. The hotel next door, Fusion, is now a major 7 days a week night club. Hearing the TV in the living room can be a problem in the evening.
Great unit, great location otherwise
Response from Playa Beach Condo, LLC - 06/22/2011

Oh, I so wish you'd called me while you were in Playa. Our guest services manager was on vacation but we can solve any drainage issues in a matter of a few minutes. We had good friends there right before you and there wasn't a drain problem at all. And, they didn't complain at all about Fusion -- typically the music is at a very acceptable level and doesn't go on and on. I am truly sorry this visit didn't live up to your expectations.

SwitzerlandBest beach vacation ever !!!
Left on 05/13/2011 for a stay in April 2011
The photos don't do justice to this gorgeous unit.. where are the bathrooms pictures Tonya . The picture don't show the beautiful beach just below the balcony, but I can tell you, it is fantastic ! (Tonya, I can send you a picture for you to edit on the site !)
Some picky customers have been complaining about the "noise" from the fusion bar, just next, on the beach, but frankly, their music is always on a subdued volume and it stops at 1 or 2am.. besides with the aC and the windows closed, there's no way of hearing such a sound when you want to sleep.
If you want to eat great tacos, go on calle 2 at Carboncito's. It's cheap and really authentic Mexican fare (I have lived in Mexico for 3 years, so I know..) Their chicharron de queso is a delicious appetizer made of crispy melted cheese, yum !
At the beach, there's always un guy to tend to your needs (food, drinks, placing your (condo's) lounging chair under a palm tree.
I think the only criticism I could emit is that it seems there is no vacuum cleaner in the whole condo, so the few rugs are very untidy and full of sand, even after maid service.
Anyway, we spent a wonderful vacation and will certainly come back :-) -

MinnesotaBest location in Playa del Carmen
Left on 04/10/2011 for a stay in April 2011
This was our second year at the Luna Encantada, but the first at unit C-3. The unit is fantastic. Spectacular view! Spacious -- including the wraparound balcony and private rooftop terrace, both more impressive than we were expecting. The unit is well equipped. The third bedroom is small, but was fine for our son. It will be hard to downsize to a lesser unit after this. The only significant downside was an off-and-on sewer smell, mentioned by some other reviewers, primarily in the master bathroom and utility room. Running water down the master bath drain helped alleviate it. Also, it would have been nice to have two keys, because locking it from the outside meant locking in the occupants inside (unless they left through the 3rd bedroom sliding glass door). Not ideal for kids staying in while the parents enjoy a night out at Fusion. Tonya is very efficient and helpful. Overall -- a fantastic unit at the best location in Playa. Definitely want to return -- and soon!

We stayed at Luna Encantada C3 Feb 19-26 2011. It is a fantastic condo. The location cannot be beat. A great view of the ocean right out your front window, steps to the beach and right around the corner from shopping/retaurants. The condo was very comfortable with nice beds and livingroom/dining room furniture. It was so relaxing to sit out on the balcony in the morning and watch the waves. We spent many days sitting on the beach. Adin got us beach chairs each morning and brought us food/drinks from the restaurant next door. We cooked dinner one night on the grill and ate up on the roof top terrace. We hope to return again next year!

Left on 11/10/2010 for a stay in October 2010
We just returned from a week at Luna Encantada C-3. It is the perfect condo for a beach vacation - right in the center of the beautiful Playa beach, one block from all of the shopping and restaurants of 5th ave. The views from this condo and all of the balconies - and the roof - are so fantastic that it is sometimes hard to leave the condo. But if you do, the pool, beach and town are wonderful. We also felt this condo maximizes it's location - with basically a wall of glass so you are always looking at the ocean. The condo is very comfortable and well furnished - it was perfect for our family of 4 and could easily accommodate a few more.

Just a few suggestions: (i) new showerheads would be nice; (ii) the stove/oven really needs to be serviced--it blew up in my face when I tried to light the pilot to the oven...just had new lashes applied yesterday; and (iii) get new sink traps; the holes are too big and too much debris escapes into the pipes

The Woodlands, TXPerfect location but needs a bit of maintanence
Left on 07/14/2010 for a stay in July 2010
The short answer is as anyone who stays at this unit will surely agree, the location and view is perfect, it can't be beat in Playa, the only downside is, I would rate the physical unit itself as average.
The long version is look on any map, ask any locals or people who have been to Playa before and they will all agree Luna Encantada is a perfect location. It’s on the beach and a block from 5th which is what people typically come to Playa for. The reduced rating is due to several peripheral issues. First, the fixtures and fitting are not up to par, some due to lack of maintenance others due to just cheap installation or quality (ex. the refrigerator seal is almost falling off, 1/3 of the lights did not work in the unit and potted plant fixture on the roof is broken allowing dirt to go all over the roof). The second item is the third bedroom is tiny, it’s fine for a child or two but don’t expect to put more than one adult in it. Lastly, this may be due to the high winds causing some sort of back draft, but there was a sewer smell that was coming from the shower drains as well as the utility closet. It was so noticeable that we all kept wet rags over the drains to prevent the smell from getting worst. I think with a little maintenance and repairs this unit could deserve a 5 star rating but until then I’ll give it 4 stars.

Left on 06/13/2010 for a stay in May 2010
Overall it was a wonderful experience. The Condo was beautiful and the location was awesome. There were a few problems with the Condo that you should know about. The kitchen sink clogged everytime we used it. The washing machine left rust marks on our clothes. The water to the condo was shut off out of the blue. The water spicket on the water cooler leaked the whole time. We we got there the master bed was broken and they needed to fix it.
Again- over all it was a wonderful experience and a wonderful location. Just some things we thought you should know that need to be worked on. -

My family and I stayed at Luna Encantada, unit C-3 in February, 2010. The condo was beautiful and the view amazing. The staff at the complex was always helpful and available whenever we had questions. The 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and spacious living/dining area gave us plenty of room to relax. The balcony provided lots of room for the six of us. We especially enjoyed the rooftop dinner on Valentines Day. The location 1 block off 5th Avenue made dining out and shopping a matter of a short walk. It was the perfect location. I know there were a few minor things that weren't perfect, but they aren't worth mentioning. All in all a wonderful 10-day vacation.

Left on 01/06/2010 for a stay in December 2009
We have stayed in this complex for two consecutive years during Christmas week. It is pricy, but well worth the expense. Unit C3 has the added benefit of a rooftop deck where we spent many hours reading in the shade under the overhang. There is plenty of direct sun for those who want it as well. The view is incomparable. You could jump down to the sand from the balcony, and the people watching on the beach is superb. The unit is well furnished, although the one deficiency is that there is a lack of good reading light. There are many entertainment options in the unit (TV's, DVD player, free wireless internet, free phone usage) which really make this a home - not a hotel. The kitchen has all the amenities, the beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are large. As for the location, the complex is in the heart of the action with the main pedestrian street at the end of the block. There is no better location in Playa. There is an active scene next door at Fusion, and New Years Eve brought on a loud dance party on the beach, but this is a vibrant destination that pulses with people and activities especially during prime holiday time, so that is to be expected. Unfortunately, as Playa has grown in recent years, there is now a water shortage in town due to infrastructure limitations, and our water was turned off twice during our stay (once for about 6 hours) but that is probably only a temporary issue and one which is more likely to occur during peak travel times such as when we were visiting. It's Mexico - one just has to accept it.
I would go back in a heartbeat, and would absolutely recommend unit C3. There are other nice units in the complex, but only 2 on each floor have direct beach facing exposure (the building is in the shape of a U around a central pool.) My philosophy is that you get what you pay for, and I recognize and appreciate the added value of the location.
If you like snorkeling, go to Akumal for the turtles and Puerto Morelos as well. -

My family and I stayed at Luna Encantada C-3 in September 2009 for my 40th birthday. Upon arriving at the condo all everyone kept saying was 'wow!'.
The location within the city was fantastic - close to restaurants, bars and shopping - but it was the view and condo itself that was the most amazing. Waking up see the beautiful beach and crystal blue water was a wonderful way to start every day.
My family enjoyed the wrap around patio on the third floor and rooftop cabana with hammocks. We were able to make dinner a couple nights in the spacious kitchen and everyone was able to spread out in the condo with the couches, chairs and patios. We spent some time at the vanishing edge pool overlooking the beach in the common area and I liked the secured access to the property as well.
The stay exceeded our expectations and we agreed we should make an annual trip to C-3. I highly recommend staying at the condo at Luna Encantada C-3. -

Left on 07/22/2009 for a stay in July 2009
We just returned from Luna Encantada C-3 and loved it overall! The place was very spacious! Plenty of towels and fresh water. It was nice and cool once we asked Benjamin to help lower the temp for us. Wal-Mart was an experience..it definately does not feel like a tradiitonal American Wal-Mart..but had everything we needed. There were two things that I thought were slightly disappointing about the condo. One was the night club on Friday and Saturday nights, Fusion. Very loud drums until atleast 2 am, (but very cool if you don't have to get up early with a toddler)during the week, there was no problem. (I am not sure that the condo really has any control of the noise) The other thing was the grill. I guess I was expecting a gas grill, so when I found a charcoal grill, we did buy charcoal but found it to be in not so good shape. We left an unopened bag of charcoal there for the next occupants. Also, no source of flame. (We are not smokers either) So we did buy steak and chicken to grill but ended up pan frying them for fajitas. I loved the collection of cookbooks in the condo and would tell anyone who is going to wal-mart, to look at the cookbooks first before you make your grocery list..some excellent looking mexican cuisine in there. Beer was cheap! Loved corona's or pina colodas on the balcony in the afternoon. Pool was so clean and wonderful!!! Loved it all!!! Will return to C-3!

Love the unit, Playa Encatada. C3 is one of the best units there; however, it is
for sale, clearly noted and the furnishing are a bit tired; e.g. the master
bedroom bed clothes were torn, worn. The second bed room is very nice; the
third with the pullout bed is adequate, though the bed is very uncomfortable
and probably unsuitable for an adult. Nonetheless the roof top area is great
and the rest of the unit very good. Would stay again, and love the location and
Playa del Carmen in general. Very good on site concierge and the pick up
service at the airport is excellent.Response from Playa Beach Condo, LLC - 07/05/2009

Bedding has since been replaced and was as soon as we were aware of the tear and could get a replacement to Meixco. There is a down alternative topper for the pullout bed and it is comfy if you use it! We are considering changing that out and probably will make the change on our next trip to Mexico in July/August!

What a great place! Luna Encantada and Unit C3 could not have been more perfect for our family vacation. Spacious, well-appointed, incredible views and great location. What more is there? This was our first trip to Playa del Carmen after numerous trips to the Pacific Coast. We will definitely come back! The Pacific just can't compare to the Caribbean. Playa also is a wonderful beach town that so far has managed to avoid the overdevelopment that seems to befall so many Mexican hot spots.

Luna Encantada is probably the nicest beachfront condo complex on the main beach in Playa. Unit C3 is worth the upgrade for the wide-angle beach view and the private rooftop. We were so close to the beach that our windows were sometimes covered in mist!
Spacious unit with a large kitchen. Great for families. The unit is soundproofed.
The building management was very accommodating.

This has been my 3rd trip to C-3 and the beauty still astounds me! The grounds are very well maintained, the condo is beautiful and the staff is quick to address any issues (couldn't get our door shut/locked)...was fixed in a few hours! I don't recall needing to lock ourselves in the condo at night with a key? Tonya is GREAT to with and very helpful.
The other visitors/owners were very welcoming as well....met a few people each vacation. Read about the "disco" next door....that has closed and they are considering opening a restaurant..they do have WONDERFUL massages by their pool now-had a few of them!
Found a great place for b-fast "Cielo"...head to 5th ave & 4th..great breakfast burritos!
Highly recommend the cozumel snorkeling/catamaran trip thru Fury Catamarans!
Stay away from the tour company near the cigar shop right on 5th towards 4th. Would promise great golf then require a timeshare presentation...we would have been happy to just pay, which we did somewhere else!
Don't tell anyone about this magnificent property, want to be able to have openings for future vacations! -

The driver from CUN to Playa was great and we booked him for a day trip too.
Luna Encantada's location is perfect!!! Beachfront, but close to shopping and restaurants. Both units exceeded our expectations. The balcony on C-3 is fantastic with a grill and a hammock. Beach level in C-1 has it's unique advantages too.
The quality of the furnishings, bedding, etc are top notch.
The building secruity is a nice option, but at no time did we feel unsafe. We did enjoy the security gaurds though. Both take their jobs very seriously, but are very friendly.
Playa is a great atmosphere for a family vacation. Needless to say, we snorkeled, fished, and toured the ruins.
We have spent vacations on multiple Caribbean islands and in Mexico. Luna Encantada is our all around favorite.
Thanks again for a great vacation experience Tonya. We hope to return again soon. -

The condo has a great rooftop patio with a grill which we really enjoyed. The only change I would make to this property is the 3rd bedroom had a pullout, we would rather have had a bed. (they may have changed that by now!) Right on the beach and 1 block from the action of town. No need for a car and plenty to do. The Hotel Fusion next door has great food and fun entertainment on Sunday nights with the jazz and fire dancers! Wish I was there right now!!
