Description from the manager
Casa Callaway sits at the southern end of Playacar Phase I right on the Caribbean and just a short 15 minute walk from the ferry dock and the lure of 5th Avenue. One of the only modern homes in the area, the house even has it's own architectural pyramid roof! While the house comfortably sleeps 8, three of the 4 bedrooms has a sleeper sofa to accomodate children. We respectfully ask for no spring breakers and no more than 8 adults occupy this home. The daily maid will keep the property neat and tidy while you enjoy your time on the Mayan Riviera from the comfort of this luxury villa. Swim in the pool, enjoy walks through Playacar and enjoy all...Read more

I have been coming to Playa since 1984, I have stayed all over Playa in residences, hotels and villas...Casa Callaway is one of the best spots to land for your vacation getaway...My family and I, along with several friends enjoyed the beautiful accomodations, beach and pool. We loved the daily dine-in experience using the Chef (Mireya) who took care of all 7 of us like we were her family, her culinary skills are amazing! The housekeeper floated throughout the house, cleaning as we messed up, the house manager, Diana, kept us comfortable with fresh flowers and bright smiles, truly wonderful people. The location is perfect, 30 step to the waters edge, the beach club next door has no impact on the property (except that it is open for visiting drinkers)and provides all the water toys should you choose to partake. We truly had a wonderful time and look forward to using this grand property again very soon. All the componets of this house are well maintained and are in great working order.

Houston, TexasAmazing House and Locations!!!
Left on 07/03/2012 for a stay in May 2012
Playa del Carmen and Casa Callaway are awesome! After staying in the privacy of this modern home I can't see ever staying at a resort again in Playa. The house is located along a beautiful open beach that is walking distance from some of the best golfing in Playa along with nearby shopping a short cab ride away. During my five day trip we spent three of the days just hanging out at the pool relaxing and enjoying the house. The beach is very clean and the water was perfect. We honestly spent the majority of the time in the pool or relaxing on the patio. The house is so nice it will become the center of your vacation.
Mireya, our cook was amazing!!! She made fresh juice and drinks. My favorite was the fresh watermelon she blended and strained each morning for brunch. During the day she made the best drinks including Pina Coladas and Mojitos. Her fresh salsas and guacamole were the best I've had, and I eat Mexican food three days a week in Texas. The food she cooked was equally amazing. Everything was fresh and authentic. My favorite was the fresh Ceviche. I wish I had learned how to make it! It was very nice to enjoy a relaxing evening at the house one or two nights without the hassle of cooking and cleaning. Maria took care of it all!
The pictures are a very good representation of what to expect. The house was clean upon our arrival and the views were amazing. The beds were comfortable and there was more than adequate room for our group of 8. I highly recommend Casa Callaway and you will too!

The house was amazing except for the Pool and Hot Tub. The Pool was used by Seagulls daily. The unwelcome visitors bathed in the water and left dirty feathers and excrement where they had been. As a result we never used the Pool. The Hot Tub was cold all week and also was never used. Efforts to "fix it" were unsuccessful. House Mgr was extremely helpful and professional. The Chef was amazing. House Cleaner "piddled" and dragged out an hour and half of cleaning into three hours. One day I asked that she not clean because she was always underfoot and it became annoying. House itslef was well furnished and fit 6 of us very easily.

BostonHail the Casa!
Left on 01/16/2012 for a stay in November 2011
Wow!!! If you've ever said that word then that about sums up our time at Casa Callaway. I was curious as to how the house would be as all I had to go on was what I could guess from the internet, but then one of my friends stayed there and told me not to hesitate and that I should go enjoy this magnificent house as soon as I could. She was right! From the time we arrived at the house to the time we regrettably returned to Boston we had not a care in the world. Diana the house manager was awesome- she is delightful and kind (something that seems to be common in this beautiful town!!!) and treated us like royalty. Everything went splendidly, including an awesome recommendation for a trip to Tulum. Go to Tulum! It was one of the highlights of our trip, and there are a couple hidden beaches there, one called "paraiso" beach that you must go to for some ceviche and relaxing after your tour of the ruins.
The cook was amazing. Amazing. Her guacamole was equal to the best I've had, and I eat a lot of guac. Two of the nights we just stayed in the house instead of going down to fifth street. The center of town is just a walk away but it is probably easier to cab it. The house was incredible. When staying at this beachfront villa it's hard to imagine a better setup compared to anywhere in Playa. The views and the beach are hands down equal to anywhere I have yet to visit in the world. Its pretty cool that there's a hotel resort right down the beach- we met a bunch of girls playing volleyball and other than that never heard a peep from them. There's a great sound-system on the deck that we used to serenade us for our dinner parties and then to party down at night. All in all, I highly recommend this place. If there was any problem, it was that I had to return for a business meeting and couldn't extend my stay like I wanted! -

Had a great stay at Casa Callaway. The view from the pool deck is amazing, many hours can be spent here relaxing, soaking up rays, and watching people on the beach. The house is perfect for having a good time, while I was there with friends I could easily see returning and having a great time with the family as well. This was my first trip to Playa, but it is a great destination, more laid back than its northern neighbor, but plenty of opportunities for great food and fun nightlife. I wouldn't hesitate to return to Playa and I highly recommend Casa Callaway to anyone planning a trip.

Tampa, FL, USAGreat Times at Casa Callaway
Left on 01/12/2012 for a stay in December 2011
I've stayed at this home twice and can't say enough good things about it. There is definitely a reason why all of the top resorts in Playa are located on the same pristine section of beach. In one direction you can walk down the beach and see a bunch of mega-resorts with hundreds of people in front of each and in the other direction you can find a much quieter residential area with long strips of isolated beach covered in shells.
The location is just far enough away from everything that you feel like you're on vacation, but still a 10-20 minute walk or quick cab ride to central Playa del Carmen. Golf, tennis, spas, and resorts are also all a quick walk. The property manager is extremely helpful and was always able to point our group in the right direction or recommend in-home services (i.e. - massages, private chef, etc.).
The house itself is gorgeous. Easily the best part of waking up there are the floor to ceiling sliding doors that make the beach facing wall of each bedroom. I found it difficult to get out of bed on some days because you almost feel like you're on the beach laying there. This house was just built for a really good time...no matter whether you just want to lounge or throw a pool party. I will definitely go back to Casa Callaway and would recommend it highly to anyone that wants to spend some time in Playa del Carmen. -

I'm a longtime repeat guest, and my recent stay was enough to convince me to write a review:
Casa Callaway sits on the finest location in Playa Del Carmen. There is not a single piece of beachfront property to match it. It's close to downtown, close to giant resorts, close to great restaurants...but still on the beach, yards away from the ocean.
In addition to the location, the house itself is awesome. It's modern, has a quirky European flair, and everything a guest could want - pool, hot tub, views, and plenty of room. You should go just to try the shower.
The management company has fantastic local staff, daily service and is very knowledgeable about things to do and see in Playa.
Finally, those of you that might be worried about Mexico these days, don't. The country is great, the people friendly and this particular town is simply my favorite getaway for some R&R.; Things might be bad up north, but Playa is as safe and idyllic as ever. Just be sure to enjoy it from the beachfront patio of Casa Callaway!

I have been to playa del carmen a few times over the years and have stayed at the large resorts as well as a few private houses. Casa Callaway is by far the best deal I have gotten to date. Right on the beautiful playa del carmen beach, first house adjacent to the resorts, comfortable bed rooms, great kitchen, beautiful pool, the list goes on. And the cost for a party of 8 is far below a comparable resort stay. I would go back again anytime and recommend the house to any family or group of friends looking for a nice place to stay for good value.

House is in over all good shape. House manager and housekeeper were helpful. Hire the cook. Better food than you can get in town and less expensive. Bar band still playing at the hotel next door at night but tolerable. It is not the nicest house in the neighborhood but is the nicest on on the beach. Hot tub heater went out and Diana, the house manager had a new heater installed in 2 days. I would rent there again.

Left on 12/19/2011 for a stay in December 2011
We spent five days in Casa Callaway and had a really great time! The location is outstanding, in a nice gated neighborhood just a few minutes from town. And the house is literally right on the beach. The amenities are wonderful, with a great kitchen and living room. The bedrooms are spacious and several have direct access out to the pool on the back patio. The service was really nice, with shuttles to/from the airport, a daily morning visit from the maid and a repairman on-call in case something were to happen at the house, although we never needed him. It is a great house and I would go back any time!

Casa Callaway is a great house with an amazing location. Stayed for 3 nights with a group of 9. It is right on the beach and just a 10-15 minute walk down the beach from all the restaurants, shops ferry to Cozumel, etc. The house was spacious and clean. Diana was very responsive to any issues or questions we had and the private chef, Mireya, was fantastic. I am still missing her pico and guac. A stay at Casa Callaway is not complete without a meal or two by Mireya!

34731Great location...disappointing house
Left on 12/04/2011 for a stay in November 2011
Upon arriving at the house...your breath is just taken away by the view from the living room, however...the events that took place over the course of the week could not be overlooked for just the view. The house is in need of a deep cleaning and over haul of the plumbing and airconditioning. The first day we experienced plumbing issues in the bathroom off the living room and warm air blowing in a/c units in bedroom 2,3&4. The house manager was on top of it and had maintenance people the next day. To fix the bathroom they had to take the valve from the hall bathroom and install it in the bedroom. The a/c was a continuing problem...one unit completely froze up and one of the workers said he was able to get it to work temporarily..but it was on it's last leg and needed to be replace. Lights were out in three of the 4 outside patio lights, 2 lights were out in bedroom 4 and the light was out in the entry. The 3 outside lights were replace on our 3 rd day...again requiring more maintenance people to enter the house. The kitchen is poorly equipped for those want to cook...the basics are there..but very dated. Plates need to be replaced...many are chipped and cracked. We were given use of a local cell phone but not told it was on "credits"" and with all the times we were calling the management company we ran out of credits on our last day and could not contact the management company. The Management Company had recommended Tino Travels for our round trip shuttle service which we had to pay in advance...the trip from Cancun to Playa del Carmen was fine..however on the Saturday we were leaving..Tino showed up an hour late..unfortunately 3 people in our group had to take a taxi to Cancun for fear of missing their flights. It left a bad taste in our mouths after having not only paid in advance, but also had given Tino a generous gratuity. Lastly, guests should be aware that the house is located adjacent to the Reef Resort and "Functions" are held regularly. One night they had a banquet and the voices and music carried over to our patio. The following night there was a wedding...the festivities included dancing and loud music up until 2:30am. We had to call security numerous times to ask them to keep the noise down. The beach is great...morning walks along the water..or head towards the ferry landing and a quick walk into town. The highlight of our trip was hiring the chef for 3 of our 7 nights. Myreda is an incredible cook and well worth the $40/night. She amazed us with what she created for us each night...and truly there is no better dining on 5th avenue then what you can have in the comfort of the house. In reading the guest book...I was disturbed that many of the guests had made the same comments regarding the house...and yet it seems little has been done to remedy the situation. There is a planter in the dining room that has dead bamboo in it and the leaves continued to drop on the floor. Also there is not a TV in the living room..only in the bedroom. Cable was out in 2 of the 4 bedrooms..they fixed it on the 4th day...and it was nonoperational 2 days later
Response from Playa Beach Condo, LLC - 12/08/2011
Manager
I am responding to this review, though the guests are not clients of mine. I am the primary rental agent for the property. They rented through another agency and some of the issues they experienced were a result of that decision.
I make each and every guest aware of the location of Casa Callaway. This is the first time in 5 years we have received a complaint about noise at the Reef Club.
We do not advertise that there is a TV in the living room. The room is largely glass and TV viewing is impossible in that area.
My agency does not recommend Tino Tours nor is the house in anyway related to the company. That was a suggestion not from this agency or from the house manager, but the rental agency used by this guest.
Casa Callaway did experience some AC an Cable issues all of which were corrected ASAP. Understand that some times it takes a day or two to get service and the needed parts. Playa del Carmen is not a metropolis and the infrastructure of the city and the country makes that a given. The AC units have been replaced as they need to be every few years. Cable, phone service and consistent electrical is a challenge in a town that has grown rapidly over a short period of time -- again the infrastructure is stretched to accomodate the growth and it is not always ideal. I wish we could control that but it results in blown light bulbs and somewhat frequent phone and television service calls.
The maid comes to Casa Callaway every day except Sunday and the house is kept immaculate. Any time a guest decides they do not want to have maid service, it is their choice, not the decision of the house manager or owner or rental agency.
I have spoken directly with the manager of the house who assures me that she and the maid and all of the maintenance personnel have addressed each and every concern and the house is consistent with the 4.5 star reviews we receive year after year.
The chef, whose name is Mireya, is exceptional and we appreciate the kind comments toward her.

While we enjoyed our stay at Casa Callaway there were some issues that occurred that we have never had happen at any of the houses that we have stayed at before. Please note that Diana responded to our requests immediately and always provided exceptional service. Our private chef totally made the trip worth while and was the highlight of our stay. Every meal that she cooked blew us away and we eagerly looked forward to it each day. Without her the trip would have not have been worth it.
• Numerous problems with the air conditioning in 3 of the bedrooms. The repairman told us that one of the units was totally rusted out and wouldn’t last more than another (2) weeks and that he placed a temporary repair on it. (2) of the bedrooms never cooled down, even with the repairs.
• The bedroom next to the living area had a toilet that did not work for (3) days. The repairman said that the valve was bad and then took the one off of the ½ bath in the entrance hall and replaced it with that one. Unfortunately that then meant that we couldn’t use the ½ bath.
• The back bed room and the 3rd bedroom next to Reef Resort didn’t have working cable. It was off the 1st 2 days and then they came out to repair it and it worked for only 1 day.
• We were not aware of no TV in the main room.
• While we appreciated the Mexican Cell Phone access we weren’t told that it ran on credits and it ran out on Thursday and we had no access to the rental office or Diana (property manager) and had to go next door to the Reef Resort and pay them to use the phone if we needed a cab, etc. This became a major problem on Saturday when Tino Guitteriez didn’t show at 11am with Tino Tours (recommended by the management company) to pick us up and take us to the airport. We had no way of communicating with anyone at the management office and though we called your office on the international line on Saturday no one answered. Thankfully the security guards assisted us. We prepaid Tino per the paperwork that was sent to us by the management comapny and we were able to reach him by cell phone from the Reef at 12:15pm, 1 hour and 15 minutes late. He then came to pick us up but unfortunately (3) of us had to leave by separate cabs earlier because we were going to miss our flights. We paid Tino a total of 320 dollars for his round trip transfers between Playa del Carmen and Cancun including the stop at the grocery store and the gratuity that we left him. There was no offer of compensation by Tino for (3) of us having to spend an additional 100 dollars for transportation that we had already paid for.
The kitchen was not equipped with a dishwasher and the cooking utensils were limited. The house has endless possibilities but needs a deep, deep cleaning in the corners and in the cabinets, etc. There were dead wasps on the glass and ledges, spiderwebs and the under cabinets in the kitchen were not clean.
When you are paying 5000 dollars a week to stay at a luxury home these are items that you don’t expect to deal with. -

House was very clean. Diana was very helpful with all our questions and in coordinating transportation. Also helped with getting our grandson's i-touch back when we left it on the van trip back to airport. Housecleaning (when needed) was exceptional.
the only thing that I would mention is that the stove/oven needed to be repaired. Some of the burners never seemed to work but other than that the kitchen was well supplied.

We were a party of 6 adults, 2 sixteen year olds, a 12 year old and a 9 year old. The layout of the house was absolutely perfect. The location was great - would be nice to be a little bit closer to the front of the complex only so it would be a bit quicker walk to town. The spot on the beach was fabulous! The chef was excellent, highly recommend having her come. Portions were huge, flavour amazing, presentation beautiful. It was great having the maid come in every day, she was so sweet~the house does need a really good thorough cleaning tho. Be sure to read all of the suggestions/ideas in the guest book. People have left names of restaurants, tours, activities, shopping etc...and we found that very helpful. Over all our experience was great! We would definately go back.

Left on 03/09/2011 for a stay in March 2011
The house is absolutely beautiful and much bigger than the pictures represent. Each room has a full king bed and a separate bath. Each of the three main rooms on the pool are very large with big bath rooms and natural lighted showers that are very large. Each of the three rooms have a futon like coach that pulls out into a twin size bed. My 3 and 5 year neices shared one without complaint. The house absorbed our 12 person party without congestion. The back bed room was way bigger than expected and is only slightly less cool, it does have a beach view, but out of a smaller window.
Kitchen is spacious but lacks a dishwasher. There is a water cooler with purified water. The pool is much larger than the pictures represent and the kids had a blast in it, while the adults were able to cool off. The pool deck is about 9' off the beach (you exit out of the front or side of the house to go to the beach). There is a great exterior "wash off" shower on the side of the house. The beach is amazing and fully restored. It is about 100' deep with a very white sand entry into the ocean. The beach is very clean. The Caribbean is the most beautiful water I have ever seen. We liked being next to the resort. It gives the location more energy, no noise to speak of, or any form of drunk idiots - it seemed to pull more european and older travelers. The playacar community is amazing. Huge, beautiful homes, very friendly and visible security on duty 24-7. This home is at the end so we enjoyed walking into town (1 to 1.5 mile walk) through the neighborhood. The town is perfect size. Great restaurants, clubs, and shopping. A mix of old and new mexico. We always felt very safe. The staff at the house was the best!! From Diana the house manager, who fulfilled our every need, to amelia who would leave the house spotless each day and Mireya who prepared the most amazing meals. We wanted to take all of them home with us!! -

We took our 4 adult children and 2 spouses (8 people) to Casa Callaway for 7 days. House was perfect, right on a wonderful beach, however, we spent most of the time around the house pool. We had Mireya cook dinner for us 5 nights - fantastic food, anything you want. We have a vegetarian and Mireya had a special dish for her each night.
Amelia, the housekeeper was there every day. Johnny, the driver, met us at the airport, took us to the house; we also used him during our stay to get to Tulum, horseback riding, etc. Always prompt. Thought noise from the resort next door might be a problem, however, it was never loud enough to bother us. Very relaxing trip, would definitely go back. -

Our stay at Casa Calloway was marvelous! From the moment we checked in till the moment we tore ourselves away, we found ourselves totally in love with Casa Calloway. We cannot say enough good about the chef Mireya. Everything she prepared was over the top! We found it foolish to go eat on 5th ave. She does all of the shopping for you. Her food was much better and the price was very reasonable. We wanted to bring her home with us. By the way we found out that margaritas were $20 each on 5th ave., it really drives up the price of a meal. The cleaning lady amelia was wonderful. If you made a mess and came back it was cleaned up! It is a must to have asuzana come and do massages in the glass living room. That was a wonderful experience after a hard day on the golf course! She was so ggod that we had her come twice. Diana was great. She was there for everything we needed, especially translating. This was far greater than any cruise or super club that we have ever been to. The house was terrific and the views of Cozomel and the cruise ships were fantastic. We have been home one week and we are already scheduling our next trip! You will love this property. Thanks Tonya for all your patience & help which were fabulous & you went out of your way to help us book this trip! We were nervous about renting a private home but it's the BEST decision we've made yet! Private pick-up by Johnny, Diana the house manager met us at the house along with the Chef preparing our first meal which was to die for! The house is beautiful; big, spacious, clean and more than we could've hoped for. We're picky about our cleanliness & beds but they were so comfortable, linens were so fresh/cozy & the house was very well kept. Luxury all the way from the big clean pool, the loungers, oceanfront, quiet, speakers outside for our iPod, WiFi, free calls home & extra special the iguana who visited us daily!Air conditioning in each room to adjust to our own comfort, big bathrooms, lots of hot water. Chef Mireya is amazing-she shops and prepares the meals including appetizers that are to die for and I'm a foodie. She served us margaritas on the deck too! Amelie kept the place clean every day, working 3-4 hours a day cleaning from top to bottom; what a nice treat! The pool as promised was cleaned every two days & we spent a great deal of time lounging looking out at the ocean! Diana even gave us a cell phone to keep in touch with her or to call cabs! She checked in regularly to make sure things were good and we always had big smiles for her! What a treat (please be kind and generously tip these people including Diana the house manager; they go out of their way to make your holiday amazing!). What a nice extra touch! We can't wait to go back and I have turned into Casa Callaway's "booking agent"; I've already given this information to about 100 people in Ottawa all who are dying to go there. Will never go to a resort again. I will send Tonya pictures of our food so you can see the treats in store from Mireya our dear chef!
Thanks to all! See you again, Robuskys from Ottawa! -

Casa Callaway, is probably one of the best vacations we have experienced, we live in australia, ( consider visiting here also) our daughter lives in Norway. we travel frequently. The position is perfect, it is imepecibly maintained, everything you would need is supplied. the charming maid looks after your needs and keeps the house spotless. the pool is attended to a couple of times each week. An interesting short walk up to the main street & all the food places are there. Taxis from the door if you don't want to walk. Next door is a large resort and you can use all the facilites and book any fishing, scuba, jet ski's & sail boats

SOME OF MY FRIENDS AND I RECENTLY HAD THE PLEASURE OF STAYING AT THIS FINE ESTABLISHMENT AND LET ME TELL YOU IT WAS FIRST CLASS. I BROUGHT DOWN A FEW OF MY BUDDIES FROM ALL OVER THE GREAT STATE OF TEXAS AND WE SPENT OVER A WEEK HERE AND WOULDN'T STAY ANY WHERE ELSE WHEN WE GO BACK TO PLAYA. THE SERVICE BY EVERYONE INVOLVED IN THE BOOKING CLEANING AND HOSPITALITY PROCESS WAS IMPECCABLE AND I LOOK FORWARD TO THIS TYPE OF TOP TIER SERVICE AGAIN, AS I'M SURE I WILL BE GETTING BACK DOWN THERE VERY SOON IN THE COMING MONTHS PROBABLY.

Had a great time at Casa Callaway, despite losing the first two days to a snow storm in our neck of the woods. Diana was there to greet us despite our late arrival. House is terrific -- right on the beach, beautiful pool, spectacular ocean views out of the three front bedroom suites. Highlights included meals prepared for us by Mireya, the cook recommended by Diana. They were fantastic. House was very comfortable, perhaps too comfortable. It was easy to just stay put and relax instead of feeling compelled to go on day tours. Town was close, but not quite walking distance. We had cars so it wasn't a problem. We went with Mireya to the Wal-mart to get groceries -- that was a unique experience. There was a dive shop at the resort next door where we could arrange snorkeling trips and jet-ski rentals. Location, service and available amenities could not have been better.

Overall we had a great stay at Casa Callaway. The view was incredible and the house was as pictured in photographs. I loved lying in bed in the morning staring at the ocean and listening to the sound of the waves which could be heard from every room in the house. The house feels very private but not isolated because it is right next door to an all inclusive hotel, so it was great for people watching and we had access to the water sport rentals. The house is a good 20 minute walk into town-the edge of town-most of the restaurants we wanted to go to were actually closer to a 40 minute walk through Playacar and up Fifth Avenue. We usually walked to town for breakfast and dinner and took a taxi home ($5). We picked up groceries for lunch at Walmart. We never took advantage of the private cook but it was available. The cleaning lady was very sweet and was there for hours each day, so the house always felt clean even though some of the furniture and fixture are showing some wear and tear mostly from the salt air. The AC was not working in the main living area but there were big fans and it didn't bother us because we spent most of our days on the patio, in the plunge pool, or in the ocean. Our only real complaint about the house was a bit of a bug problem. There were microscopic bugs on the counters in the kitchen and mosquitos in all of the bathrooms-probably breeding in the standing water in the showers the week before when no one was in the house. We actually did not see a single bug outside but got several bug bites while in the bathroom. We didn't call the house manager to complain becuase we didn't want them spraying the house while we were staying there but ultimately did use bug spray we found in the cabinet because we were tired of the bites and it worked. Consider e-mailing the house manager to make sure house is sprayed prior to your arrival.I read several reviews before renting the house and no one else mentioned this as a problem. I'd still stay there again.

Our stay was great. The house is one of the best on the beach. The only problem was the air conditioning in the main family room was broke and we were without electricity for over half a day on Friday. Other than that we so enjoyed our stay. Would rent again in a heart beat.

We had a wonderful family vacation at Casa Callaway. The view was spectacular and the pool refreshing. The three bedrooms with their ocean views, modern bathrooms and king-size beds were very comfortable. The excellent maid service provided fresh sheets daily. The cook we hired, Miraya, was wonderful and reasonably priced.
Our big complaint was that the air conditioning in the living/dining room and kitchen was broken for the whole week (the AC in the bedrooms worked fine). The temperature reached the mid to upper 80s and the humidity was in the mid 70s almost every day. Even with two large fans to move the air, the experience was not pleasant.
The rental agency only told us about this the day we arrived, even though attempts to fix the unit had been ongoing for six weeks. The owner apparently will not be replacing the unit until spring 2010.
We would recommend this place for a great family vacation. However, be sure all the AC units are working since the house is suppose to be fully air conditioned. Had everything been working as advertised, we would have given Casa Callaway five stars.Response from Playa Beach Condo, LLC - 01/14/2010

We rented Casa Callaway last week with my husband and parents and had an amazing time. We have visited Playa at least once a year for the last 18 years and have never had a vacation like this. I doubt we will ever return to a resort again. We have been up and down the strip enjoying resort after resort and I now feel ripped off that we never enjoyed the benifits of a private home. I will start off with the couple of things that went wrong but all of the great things made these seem small. When we arrived the house was not cleaned and ready to go at 1:00 (check in was not unitl 4:00) however when we came back from lunch at 5:00 they were still working on it. The electricity was out until about 8:00 but we were in the pool and didn't care that it was out but Diana offered to put us up in a nearby condo until it came back. The A/C in the common area was not good at all but you didn't even notice until night when you needed to lock up but the bedrooms had great A/C.
Now for what made this place so special: Everything was spotless the pictures online are just what you get. Diana and her team made us feel like we were the most important people on the planet. We had a cook 5 days who cooked gourmet meals and the cost was $30 a day. How cool is it to wake up go to the pool and have a sweet lady come out and tell you the meal that was prepared especailly for you was ready. The maid came once a day and cleaned up every grain of sand and changed all of your bedding and towles. The view don't get me started on the view all we could keep saying to one another is "can you believe how awesome this place is"? All of the bedrooms face the ocean and when you wake up all you do is slide the doors open and it looks like you are on a cruise ship because all you see is ocean. I could go on and on but all I can say is thank you to Casa Callaway we had an amazing time!
