Wonderful location close to all the attractions of Exmoor. Possibly the best cottage we have stayed in as far as comfort is concerned with wonderful ` marshmallow` duvet, comfortable furniture and with a TV built into the bed what more could you want. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The gardens were just what is required, especially with two dogs and with safe, secure off road parking, behind electronic gated this rental is superb. Some have said the drive is difficult to get in and out but with common sense and forethought it is no problem and if I can use it in a Volvo V70 anyone can.
We cannot wait to return, and that includes the dogs.
Would you recommend this vacation rental to a friend?

A lovely but small cottage with wonderful views and great walking access to Porlock Weir. There are lots of local walks too so we never needed to drive more than a few miles in the car...The bed was comfortable but the curtains very thin .... I sleep lightly and in the bright morning sunshine ( I know one shouldn't complain about the sun) the room was too bright - a black out lining on the curtains would be ideal. A bit of a problem with the automatic gate so sadly we couldn't let our dog off in the garden which we would have liked. If you are looking at this cottage or the one next door the adjacent cottage was quite a lot bigger. Parking is quite tight so you need to be able to reverse well....
Wonderful cottage and surrounding. Had luck with very nice weather in april. Hiking (South coast path & Lorna Doone valley) is superb.

We had a fantastic stay for 3 nights. The accommodation was 5 star! Couldn't find anything to fault. It had everything you could possibly need plus more!
It even had a couple of dressing gowns- almost felt like being in a little spa type getaway!
The view from our bedroom windows was stunning!
The surrounding areas were lovely and you could make it as active or relaxing a break as you liked!
I'd highly recommend and will most defiantly be returning!

Stunning location. The view from the garden and bedroom, both overlooking the sea, is enchanting. Very comfortable, clean and warm accomodation with thoughtful extras like wine, milk, hot water bottle, books etc. Bed and bedding both excellent quality. Although the weather during our stay was mostly wet we still had a lovely break. The best times were driving over Exmoor, visiting Dunster and other picturesque villages & drinks in the evening in lounge at Millers and looking at the stars from the bedroom window. All in all a perfect holiday. Very rarely do holidays live up to my expectations but this one did.

Beautiful and peaceful area to stay in with a view from the Stable Block we never tired of seeing. The evening walk down to the pub was just long enough to give our dog Monty a walk & get our appetite ready. The baby gate on the stairs was a blessing as it meant we didn't have to keep watching Monty to ensure he didn't sneak upstairs.

Our second stay here and third already booked. What a find! A hidden jewel and absolutely perfect with sea views to the front; Exmoor rising majestically to the rear; and the best local in England down the road.

The Stable Block at Porlock Weir is a fantastic location, the accommodation is one of the best we have stayed in. It was lovely and warm due to the underfloor heating and the en-suite bathroom was sheer class. The views from the property are amazing and make you want to explore all around the coast. Everywhere is really dog friendly, all the pubs, bars and eateries allow dogs. We will be visiting again!

The service was, as always, excellent. If I were a rich person/win the lottery I would see if I could buy The Stable Block and make it my 2nd home.
The location is perfect. I find it difficult to tear myself away from the view from the bedroom and do spend a lot of time watching the clouds move across the sky. The amenities are fine, though sometimes my husband has a problem getting the tv to work.
What I like best is the location, the bedroom, the view. It is such a peaceful place. I always leave feeling restored.
Thanks to everybody and see you next year.
ps I have already recommended it to two friends and one has all the details she needs to arrange a visit ...
Relaxing short break

We had the most relaxing weekend away at The Stable block. Lovely cottage with stunning views of the sea from the bedroom. Very clean and well kept property with great finishing touches.
Our short break was to get away from it all and relax and Porlock Weir certainly made us do that!
We enjoyed the log burner of an evening and had a lazy sunday morning relaxing with a cuppa watching the view.
The village is a two minute walk away and is beautiful. The locals are all very friendly and we felt quite at home in the pub which did the most amazing Sunday roast!
The Cafe also does great evening meals.
A perfect weekend in a perfect setting. Would recommend and would definately go again

Their for a short break and found it very good. Ideal base for exploring Exmoor. The property was very comfortable but was lacking in china and cutlery. Had problems with the power supply that twice left us in the dark.
Looking forward to our next visit

We stayed in the Stable Block, (having previously stayed in the neighbouring Coachman's House and St.Anthony's Cottage) and it was up to the same excellent standard- comfortable, warm, well equipped. The sea views (especially from the bedroom) are fantastic and we had a cuppa in the morning with the French doors open, with sight and sound of the waves.Put that together with the lovely location and we just can't wait to get back.

We have recently returned from another fab holiday in Porlock Weir-this time we stayed for 4 nights in the Stable block. The accommodation is cosy and compact, with a nice bathroom and a good powerful shower, but the best part is the view from the full length windows in the bedroom. So beautiful, looking across Porlock bay towards Bossington hill! Lovely friendly service as always from all the staff we met. Porlock Weir is a great place for a romantic stay, or for a walking holiday, or even to sample the local cuisine. Highly recommended: 5 stars! We will return as soon as we can. Top tip: be sure to eat at The Culbone restaurant at the top of Porlock Hill. Well worth the drive!

I'd stayed in Exmoor many times, and usually near Porlock, bu this was the first time I'd stayed near Porlock Weir and in The Stable Block.
The cottage is a one up, one down with a small but modern bathroom off the bedroom. Downstairs is a kitchen diner. Outside is a good size parking area shared with the cottage next door. Park sensibly and there are no problems. The gates off the road at the back of the cottages are electric, providing additional security for your car (although I doubt it matters much in this area) and peace of mind if you have a dog.
Infront of and below the parking is a nice garden with outdoor furniture in good condition. The garden, also, is shared with the cottage next door although each has its own outdoor seating area, separated enough for some sense of privacy.
The view is to die for. From the bedroom, indeed from the bed itself, you are overlooking the garden and look across Porlock Bay to Hurlstone Point (the west end of North Hill). Across the Severn Estuary you'll often be able to see the coast of South Wales. The bedroom has french windows with a glass juliet balcony. We spend many hours lying on the bed with the windows open chilling and admiring the view. The bedroom isn't overlooked so you can leave those windows open a lot if you wish.
The cottage was clean and the quality of fixtures and fittings is high. The bed is comfortable and has a modern, quality television that rises up out of the foot end if you wish, although we preferred to read and gaze at that lovely view. The kitchen has a large fridge-freezer and everything you need. There is another quality TV in the kitchen, along with a Sky box, a WiFi router. There's also a nice iPod dock/CD player/radio.
Porlock Wier with its picturesque cottages, harbour, pub (real ale and good food), and restaurant is a few minutes walk away. The village of Porlock with the usual amenities and shops is a five minute drive away.
We'll be booking again!

The service we were given prior to arrival was very good. We received a reminder a few weeks before going and the relevant information re the key etc. The video which accompanies the cottage rental was very interesting and gave a very good idea of what to expect.
The cottage itself was immaculate and modern and very comfortable. I had been worried that the downstairs room would feel too small but I needn't have worried as it felt spacious enough for the 2 of us. The bed was so comfortable and view spectacular. It made the holiday for me, just waking up to see the see and garden and still be lying in bed. We had fantastic weather too so the window was open most of the time. Of course the TV at the end of the bed was a real luxury.
The bathroom was good...very good size bath plus good working shower.
The garden was great too and we ate outside most of the time, which is so unusual for England.
The location is great, 5 minutes walk to Porlock Weir and several places to eat. Many walks from the cottage too. Lots of information in the cottage of places to go, things to do and see and remarks from previous tenants.
The best thing was the view and the garden. The thing we liked least was the difficulty getting the car out as it is a very narrow road outside. But that was only minor because at least we had parking next to the cottage within gates, so felt very safe.
Altogether a wonderful experience.
Best holiday cottage I've ever stayed at!

The Stable Block at Porlock Weir is absolutely beautiful. The view from the cottage, the sound of the sea, being able to listen at night with the bedroom windows open - bliss! We also loved the extensive gardens as well, and the facilities inside the cottage were fab. I will definitely be back. This is the only place I will stay now whenever I want to visit Exmoor.

This is a lovely cottage with amazing sea views. As you enter the property the view opens out and is simply beautiful. Lovely comfy beds, great power shower and a cosy sitting/dining/kitchen area. Dogs are allowed which was a real bonus. If you enjoy peace and quiet and plenty of wildlife, plus a pub to walk to, this is a great place to stay. The walks from the door are great too.
