Description from owner

Description

The Byre is our pet friendly cottage. We welcome owners with dogs. One medium/large dog; accept two small dogs. If bringing a dog a small additional charge will be made on arrival at the cottage - see house rules information.

The Byre is a generously proportioned 3 bedroomed cottage. Located in the Lake District National Park, in the hamet of Brandlingill, it offers a super base to relax and enjoy yourself whether for walking, running, cycling or simply to "get away from it all " holiday. Situated in a courtyard setting, our cottages are fully equipped, spacious and provide accommodation to the highest standard. There is storage for bicycles.

Adjacent to The Byre, is another 3 bedroomed cottage (Tithe Cottage - ID 5265953) so there is the opportunity for 2 families or large groups of friends or groups of walkers to holiday together.

We offer a shared picnic area alongside our orchard and stable area which guests can access from the cottage and is for both cottages use. Please note that the garden space is not directly attached to holiday cottage.

There is also the use of the Courtyard to sit out and enjoy the peace and quiet. We keep the Courtyard car free.

The Byre offers an excellent location to explore the beautiful Western Lakes region - beaches, mountains and lakes. Great for local wildlife - red squirrels, badgers, deers and birds. We also have fantastic night skies on clear nights so great for star gazing.

“Fabulous stay away from it all!”

Reviewed 18 Apr 2021

What wonderful 4 days we had in Byre Cottag - tucked away amongst meadows & brooks, all you hear is birdsong and lambs bleating. The cottage is warm and cosy and excellenly equipped, bedding and towels fresh and comfortable. Get away from it all yet have everything that makes the Lake District special in easy reach.

Pleased staying at the byre lodge. Very clean, well equipped with peaceful, tranquil environment. Rooms are much bigger then it is shown. Kind and sincere owner family. Going on holiday with a dog, it would be a great choice staying the byre lodge at Cockermouth.

“Lovely cottage”

Reviewed 28 Oct 2018

Lovely clean, warm, tidy, 2 bathrooms, huge bedrooms, dish washer, washing machine, all kitchen accessories, kind owners. Dogs are not allowed to be left in property.

This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on all reviews.

Response from the owner Thank you for your kind review. We ask that owners do not leave their dogs in the property simply because we have had the unfortunate experience where a dog had been left and scratch the kitchen door to bits. The owner was mortified but we then had to sort the damage.
