Description from owner

Description

This 200-year-old detached cottage has the best of both Worlds! Not only is it within the stunning countryside of the Exmoor National Park but it is just a short stroll along the river walk to Dulverton with its country pubs, quality restaurants and shops. The location is perfect for exploring the varied moors, combes and coasts, fabulous walks or enjoying the wildlife & just having a relaxing holiday.

Roomy accommodation and quirky charm are in abundance throughout this characterful stone Cottage which was formerly a Coach House for the nearby country house. Approaching from the car parking area via the Jasmin arch gate, you arrive at the French doors which open directly from the dining area onto the small well-tended cottage garden. The modern, very well-equipped kitchen/diner has everything you could need including a decent size fridge/freezer, an electric cooker with halogen hob, microwave & washer/drying machine. The spacious beamed sitting room is furnished to a high standard in a traditional style with a leather chesterfield suite (sofa bed) all centered around the large fireplace with a cosy feature log burner. The entire cottage is heated by energy-efficient electric heaters providing an ambient background temperature. On both sides of the fire are stained glass windows, which look stunning in the afternoon sun. Also on the ground floor is a generously proportioned shower/WC too.

The light and airy upstairs bedroom provides a lovely sanctuary promising a restful night’s sleep, helped by the standard size double luxury pocket sprung bed plus there is the added benefit of an ensuite bathroom.

The Coach House is ideal for couples wanting a quiet getaway, but the accommodation can be flexible to sleep up to 4 people by arrangement with a range baby equipment also available.

Dogs: Perhaps unsurprisingly, given the fabulous walking opportunities Exmoor offers, it is a paradise for our beloved K9’s and we welcome up to 2 well-behaved dogs although we do ask you to check with us first, please.

Everything is prepared for your arrival including a high standard of cleaning, freshly laundered quality white cotton bed linen & towels. Electricity, heating as necessary & supply of logs included.

Facilities include:

Wi-Fi, 2 flat-screen TVs, phone (incoming calls only), DVD & CD player, library of books, CDs & DVD’s + games. Maps, details of walks & brochures of places to visit

The kitchen has ample cupboards, microwave, electric cooker and hob, extractor fan, fridge freezer, auto washer/dryer, a good selection of kitchen utensils & china, tea towels etc.

There are wooden patio chairs & table available to make the most of the good weather..

The bedroom has quality linen, throws & all season’s duvet, ample wardrobe space, remote TV, hairdryer, single sofa bed & travel cot available.

Own off-road private parking bay for one vehicle. Please note that this is a little restrictive especially for 4x4 vehicles although doable, so careful parking required. There is alternative parking in the village if required.

“GREAT SETTING AND RELAXING HOLIDAY”

Reviewed 27 Jul 2021

Excellent setting, good beaches nearby, Dunster beach and Minehead all within driving distance 25 mins or so. The Coach House was clean and tidy with all you need for a relaxing holiday. Dulverton was a short walk away along the river path and over the bridge. Good food at the Bridge Inn. Had a week of very good weather which was a bonus. Will return for certain.

“Nice cottage”

Reviewed 16 Sep 2018

Location disappointing ,due to close proximity of roads ,parking not the easiest . Dulverton is a lovely little very dog friendly country town with everything you need ,and can recommend The Bridge Inn . The cottage was nice ,and very clean and comfortable ,garden is very small ,but we thoroughly enjoyed our week . At the moment there is a new build going on very close to cottage ,which can be noisy at times ,but obviously this will be finished one day .

Response from the owner Thank you for your review. Delighted to hear that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay and especially pleased that your rescue dog seemed to cope well with the adventure. Being surrounded by such wonderful walks & countryside yet having all the amenities that Dulverton just a stroll away, does mean a small compromise with the proximity of the road although I am sure you will agree there is virtually no traffic after early evening and having private off road parking is another big benefit. We were extremely disappointed when planning permission was granted for a luxury house on the ancient green space next to our cottage. The ground works have just commenced and we trust it will be completed in a timely manner as the developers want a fast return on the investment. Fortunately our Cottage is not overlooked, all works should be going ahead during normal working hours & most importantly, we have a hedge, drive & parking area + some 30m + distance between us so we hope any disturbance will be kept to a minimum.
