Description

Very close to, and convenient for Chester, in the sought after Cheshire village of Saughall, this beautifully renovated contemporary cottage is set in quiet surroundings at the centre of the village, only two minutes walk from the local pub and Tea Room. There is a local village store, pharmacy, hairdressers, Chinese take-away and village park, with brand new children's play facilities. All facilities are within walking distance of the cottage.

There is also public footpaths nearby leading through Shotwick Park Estates and through the lovely Bluebell Woods, leading further on to the site of an old castle overlooking the Welsh Hills.

Rural and yet very close to the city centre on what we consider to be the best and most accessible side of Chester, on a major bus route with easy access to the race course, main car parks, walls and city centre cafe bars.

There is a spacious open plan ground floor with plenty of windows and a large skylight, high specification kitchen including oven, grill, hob fridge freezer, microwave and washer dryer with breakfast bar and seating for two. Accompanied by a combined lounge area with comfortable seating set around a feature fireplace with room for four. Also a large television with full sky tv package, and free guest access to super-fast fibre broadband.

On the first floor a master bedroom with double bed and ample space for a cot or temporary bed (which we can of course provide). The bedroom leads on to an ensuite bathroom which is compact but with a large power-shower.

Located a short distance from Chester City Centre (5 minutes by car) and on the most accessible and convenient side of Chester with easy access to numerous local attractions; Chester Races, UK's best and world renowned Zoo, Cheshire Oaks (UK's biggest outlet village) and Blue Planet Aquarium - in under 15 minutes.

Numerous other attractions include; Cheshire Ice Cream Farm, Candle Factory, Crocky Trail, Go Ape at Delamere Forest, all of which are a short drive.

For those wishing to perfect their swing, Fore Golf driving range and nine hole golf course is one mile down the road, and two easily accessible national cycle ways for the bicycle and walking enthusiasts.

The bus stop leading to Chester is literally just around the corner from the cottage, and the bus leaves every 30 minutes or so. A taxi to Chester can vary in cost from around £6 - £12, dependant on time and day.

Interaction with guest

We typically welcome guests along to the cottage and handover the keys. We are around if the guests need assistance during their stay, but if not we like to leave our guests to enjoy the cottage in peace.

“Good standard but needs a bit of additional attention”

Location for visiting Chester excellent, hourly bus service outside door or easy drive in. Modern, excellent standard inside but lacks finishing touches- needs more kitchen equipment, better storage upstairs, we moved bed to get good headroom, no instructions re rubbish and garden is not private! Would fence that off, remove radiators etc and provide table and 2 chairs. Just a few additions would give excellent rating

Having noted your points we provide the following responses; There are large wardrobes well over 2m wide in the bedroom, which we feel is more than adequate for holiday guests. We are unsure about what additional kitchen equipment is required as you haven't specified, as it has a full fitted kitchen and all necessary appliances and condiments. The cottage is only small and quaint, for that reason the headroom is slightly limited upstairs, and guests are welcome to move furniture to their own preferred position in any area of the cottage, as it seems you did. This also applies to the seating for meals. We do already provide two stools for guests to sit and eat at the breakfast bar, we certainly wouldn't remove radiators to accommodate a table, as we feel thermal comfort and relaxing seating are more important for our guests experience. The garden we don't profess to be private, it is a front lawn with a relaxation seat. We feel that by boxing it in with a fence would restrict the guests view up the street and from the cottage, and this would make it feel less open and relaxing. In terms of instructions for the bins, we must apologise as this is usually something we do go over with guests when we welcome them along. It must have been missed for some reason I'm your case. We are of course located onsite, and easily accessible by telephone, sms, or through TripAdvisor to resolve any guest issues whilst they are staying and would have been more than happy to assist. “A spotless & charming cottage”
