United StatesGreat place to share!

Our 10 days at Casa Anita werea all we expected and more. The house is lovely, with lots of light and space, feels a lot larger than it actually is. My wife was attending a workshop nearby, so we had friends for dinner several nigths at the terrace, the grill and kitchen equipment allows to entertain a group of at least 8 people. Don´t need to bring anythig but your clothes, shampoo and sunscreen, as the kitchen is fully equiped and the house has everyting you´ll need, from towels and beach towels to beach chairs, bicyces, etc.
Already planing our next, hopefully longer visit! -

A most enjoyable stay. Would most definitely recommend the property. We enjoyed the "extras" such as loan of bicycles and the availability of cd's.

Ann Arbor, MichiganAbbey del Sol is my choice in Puerto Morelos
Left on 01/06/2013 for a stay in December 2012
I first learned of this wonderful fishing village in the early 1990s, while working in the travel industry. With the Mexican government's push to develop Cancun into the corporate all-inclusive resort area that exists today, small villages dotting the coast to the south became endangered. Today, lovely Puerto Morelos is really the sole survivor that remains north of Tulum.

What makes PM special is the high percentage of small business ownership by people who actually invest and live in the community. When you spend money in PM, it stays in PM and supports the vitality and sustainability of a rapidly disappearing small town coastal culture in the Yucatán. Abbey del Sol is a fine example of foreign owners (American) who, 10 plus years ago, made a substantial investment and live here a good chunk of the year. Tiff and abbey rely upon an operations team headed by two exceedingly capable locals, Jin and Pilar, who, in turn, depend upon the dedication of a sizable group of PM residents to make your visit smooth and pleasant. In fact, they routinely exceed my expectations and I can be a tough critic.
.
My recent 10 day stay included 5 nights in Casa anita, a charming and comfortable 2 bedroom ranch with pool and adjacent lawn/garden space great for ambling aimlessly with your morning cup or glass of wine in the evening. Even though I was alone on this trip, I simply love this house and was totally ecstatic that it was available on short notice. Yes, I could have stayed in smaller, less expensive accommodations (and did for my last 5 days), but this house delivers a special ambience in this seaside community and I took advantage. The incremental cost is an excellent value and proved well worth it!
.
The features are as they describe. No exceptions found. Here is my list of my top ten faves: 1) the privacy, 2) the many songbirds and flowering perennials, 3) the view of and easy walk to the beach (if I owned the house, I would buy that adjacent lot!), 4) the extra space, 5) the large bathroom and shower with good water pressure, 6) the well-stocked kitchen with plenty of counter space for food prep, 7) the in-room safe for my electronics, passport and extra cash, 8) the pool for cooling off after a day in the sun (shower first, please!) or for waking in the morning after too much wine the night before, 9) plenty of high quality thick cotton towels for bath or beach, and 10) the steady breeze that flows through the abundant screened doors and windows making billowing sails of the light-filtering draperies. It is a wonderful base for a small family -- completely functional and easy to keep tidy. But it can also be intimate and romantic when desired.
.
I have recommended one modest upgrade to the managers: black out curtains in the east seaside bedroom would be welcome to extend a morning's sleep. The light pours in pretty early and, fortunately, I had a sleep mask. You may want to bring one too. I was also aware of early morning street noise as the town comes alive. Not terribly intrusive but it will not be as quiet as you may expect if you are used to a stand-alone resort compound. I would also like to see them add a lower lumens lamp in the front room for late night ambient lighting allowing the brighter lamps to be turned off. And an undershelf task spot in the kitchen for the same reason. Lastly, a word of caution for families with young non-swimming children: the pool is open access, approx 5 feet deep, and you will need to actively supervise them.
.
In short, I will return to stay at Casa anita, alone again, with companion, or with my young adult children and their friends though 6 is maximum when bringing the futon into play. You wouldn't want any more than that here anyway. As for the staff of abbey, they are among the best at personal service that I have encountered in my many travels anywhere.
.
I highly recommend. -

Chicago, IL, United StatesCasa Anita, our new oasis in Puerto Morelos.
Left on 12/26/2012 for a stay in December 2012
After searching the area for a rental to accommodate 3 people, we chose Casa Anita. The photos describing the property were very descriptive and met our needs. After arriving and settling in, we all agreed the photos did not do it justice. The casa was perfect!! Loved the openness of it, the wood windows and doors. There were 4 of them to get in and out of the casa. All with beautiful views of the property, side yard, and pool. We enjoy cooking while on vacation and found the kitchen to be well equiped. We also enjoyed BBQ'ing achiote chicken and arrachera out on the charcoal grill. The staff at Abbey del Sol just couldn't do enough for us, very professional. We will definitely be returning to Casa Anita.

Left on 11/11/2012 for a stay in November 2012
We had a delightful stay in Casa Anita, which had every facility that you might need on holiday and more. The spacious garden and well designed pool were perfect for our daughter and 2 year old grandson. Having the sea only two minutes walk away made life very easy. Support from the staff was first rate - advice, loans, DVDs etc. Thanks to everyone at Abbey Del Sol for being so generous and helpful.

It felt like home and was great in every respect. Would have loved to have a small boom box / stereo though to connect my cell phone to rather than headphones.

Left on 03/09/2012 for a stay in March 2012
I was looking for some peace and quiet. A time for reflection, but also somewhere I felt safe being on my own. The house was wonderful, the staff was patient and helpful when I needed help getting oriented. I had been to Puerto Morels a couple of years ago, so I was somewhat familiar with the town. I like it cause it is quiet and every one is so friendly. So I could be alone, but if I wanted to go do something it was easy to find things and people were very friendly. I hope to come back with my family or some friends next time. Thanks so much for all your help!

Foxboro, Ontario, CanadaCasa Mae a very special place
Left on 02/11/2012 for a stay in January 2012
We returned to Casa Mae in 2012, having stayed there in January 2010 as well. The new private pool is absolutely lovely. This bungalow has so many qualities - the large lawn area (where we watched two iguanas quietly grazing one afternoon), the mature trees, the accessible "sea"light that floods in from the direction of the beach. We like the simplicity of the house - it is calming. And we are so well looked after by Abby, Tiff and Jin and family - the vacation is like visiting a favorite relative who does everything in their power to make your stay enjoyable.

Casa Anita is a lovely Mexican casa. It was very clean and the perfect rental, for myself, husband and two children. The staff was extremely helpful and very nice. The location was great, so close to the Ocean. We really enjoyed the private swimming pool. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Puerto Morelos!!

Very nice private place. Nice beach access for off the beach. Staff is incredible at taking care of guests even in a tropical storm. No need for rental car with the pickup/dropoff service at airport and taxis locally. Good restaurants, nice people, local artisians are are very talented. A great place to dream about in the cold days of winter!
