My partner, myself and another couple stayed at the Hummingbird for a week Feb 22, 2013. I have been in the travel industry for almost 30yrs now and can honestly say the Hummingbird Villa has been one of the most amazing and wonderful accommodations I have ever stayed in. For me, what truly makes a place, a trip, an experience unique and priceless is undefinable. I could say it was the fantastic views, the comfortable rooms, cooling pool, fully equipped kitchen, the books and movies available to it's guests. It could be the great location to everything such as hiking trails, restaurants, grocery stores etc. It could have been the excellent attention to detail and prompt service we received from the very moment we emailed the owner to inquire about the property to the house manager and gardener that made sure we had everything and were taken care of immediately. But I think that these are only parts of the sum of a whole experience that will leave you wanting more...and constantly thinking about when you can go back. You know when you are somewhere and you get that feeling of just letting go and exhaling? Come to the Hummingbird Villa and experience Saba...there is truly no place like it anywhere else. Each of us came home with memories to last a lifetime. Thank you Dan, for creating and imbuing the Hummingbird with love and wonderful energy, may we repay you in kind one day.

Five scuba friends stayed a week and loved it. Plenty of bedrooms and baths plus a beautifully equipped kitchen made for a great vacation. Grocery stores and restaurants are an easy walk and the diving was supurb. And the view is incredible. We hope to return soon.

Our dive trip couldn't have been nearly as nice without the deluxe accommodations at Hummingbird Villa. A beautiful property extremely well maintained, the villa had everything we could have asked for. The local caretaker Paul made sure our groceries were in ahead of our arrival, had fresh towels and linens in place, stopped by a few times during the week to be sure we had everything we needed and was very personable and friendly. We will be back for sure!

This villa is the unspoiled queen of the unspoiled queen. It combines modern conveniences and comfortable furnishings with the charm of the island. The views are incredible, the gardens are beautiful, and the owner encourages guests to pick the fruit from the many trees. There could be some inconveniences with water usage, but with some conservation measures, it just becomes part of the adventure.
The on site caretaker (Paul) was extremely helpful, never intrusive, and had some great stories of his travels around the world. Although there are several outstanding restaurants in Windwardside, no meal compared to the dinner Paul prepared for us - especially the chocolate desert (chocolate is his specialty).
When the locals hear that you are staying at Hummingbird Villa, their response is often that you are staying at the best villa on the Island. Everyone on the Island seems to want to make you comfortable. Be sure to leave some time to visit JoBean Glass Gallery, she is such a friendly, fun character.Response from Daniel Guida - 08/21/2011

I'm thrilled that you enjoyed Hummingbird Villa, Rick. I agree that Paul is a great chef and that he is a chocolatier with no equal. If anyone is reading this, I agree with Rick that you MUST visit Jo Bean Glass Art and take one of her bead making classes. Jo is one of the most loving, crazy, funny people you will ever meet and her work is world renowned.

This was our 7th trip to Saba and the first time we stayed at the Hummingbird. It was so much better than any other place we had, in fact it gave us a whole new appreciation of Saba. The view is stunning, nothing but jungle between us and the sea which was about 800 ft down from our balcony. You can hear the waves as a distant drumbeat and catch panoramic views of Sint Maarten and St. Barths in the distance. You really get a perspective of the earth's curvature. The minute we arrived we were treated like old friends, everything we needed was close to the villa, but it offers complete privacy and seclusion. The pool is something right out of Conde Naste, vanishing into the horizon of the azure Caribbean waters. We can't wait to return!

I had the fantastic experience of staying at Hummingbird Villa over a few days late Fall 2010. Mother Nature decided to fling some nasty weather during our stay but that did not dampen one of the most wonderful vacations ever. I was part a of group that stayed there and enjoyed delightful morning breakfasts on the main villa balcony, leisurely strolls into town during noon day, and evening activities that took advantage of a spacious and well maintained facility. The guest room was spotless, the landscape lush and well maintained, and my iPad worked with the wireless which was a really nice added benefit. The view is unbelievable - pictures do not do it justice at all. It's really nice to have both the peace and tranquility of Saba and the modern amenities of life right there when you need them. I would absolutely go back again - you can hang out as a group when you want and then go have some peace and quiet for yourself in one of the most gorgeous places I've ever stayed when you want too.

We enjoyed a lovely 2 weeks at Hummingbird Villa. We were two couples, a teenager, a baby, a nanny and a labrador and we found the accommodations to be spacious and well appointed. The staff went out of their way to make sure the house was stocked with basic food supplies for our arrival... important since many things can be hard to find on the island. This home was a wonderful oasis and we would stay there again. Caution to everyone that the drivers on Saba's single windy road can be a little wild so be careful on your short walk to town and some of the hikng trails can become quite slippery.

My husband and I just got back from our Honeymoon stay at Hummingbird Villa! We cannot say enough wonderful things about this property! It was by far the most relaxing vacation we've ever taken! The house is absolutely beautiful and the views from the decks are unbelievable! Dan, the owner, answered all of our many questions and suggested some wonderful "must do's" during our visit! We are already planning a return trip to visit the beautiful Hummingbird Villa and wonderful Saba!!

What can I say about Hummingbird Villa and its perfect location, comfortable house, delicious food, and beautiful Island with the best Scuba and hiking a tropical location has to offer, not to mention great restaurants, and friendly inhabitants; It's simply fabulous. Hummingbird Villa is 100% total relaxation. A totally great time was had by all in our party during our stay at Hummingbird Villa; from its perfect appointments in all the sleeping suites, its multiple and spacious sunning decks overlooking our private swimming pool, to the well equipped kitchen and all the activities Hummingbird Villa and the Island of Saba have to offer. Our stay on Saba was made fun, and only heightened by our stay at Hummingbird Villa. I highly recommend Hummingbird Villa for a vacation you will never forget or enjoy more. I can honestly say Hummingbird Villa, on the Island of Saba, will always hold special and lasting memories for me.
Bless you, my child. And have a fantastic day!!!

The view from the large deck was beautiful. We sat out there every minute when not exploring the island. Enjoyed the planes taking off every now and again on the tiny air strip far, far below. The views of the other islands at night were special.
It was a very nice spacious house. We'd go back! -

I've traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean and I can guarantee you that there are very few lodgings that can better the views from Hummingbird Villa. I'm not sure exactly what the elevation is, but its high enough to watch the tiny Stsl aircraft take off and land far beneath you at the postage-stamp sized airstrip about a mile away. The villa faces east and affords an unmatched panorama: an immense basin of the Caribbenan sea stretches out before you and affords a breathtaking view of anguilla, St. Martin, St. Barts, St. Eustachias, St. Kitts and Nevis.
Because the villa is perched so high up, it is naturally cool, plus it faces the wind. Never blustery, just always delightful.
The villa is fully outfitted for a leisurely stay on Saba. From the moment you walk in the door, you feel as if you "are home" and that you are a priviledged resident of this very special island. Saba truly earns its moniker of the "Unspoiled Queen" of the Caribbean. Whether you're headed to Saba to dive its many pristine dives sites, hike its many trails, or just hang out and enjoy a slice of the Caribbean as it used to be, I can't recommend Hummingbird Villa highly enough. I can't wait to get back!! -

We loved staying here. We came with a set of grandparents, plus our family. The property was wonderful and there was plenty of space for everyone. The view was spectacular. The pool was beautiful and also had an amazing view. The furnishings were comfortable and well decorated. The house was charming and very relaxing. It was an easy walk into town. Everyone was able to easily enjoy hiking and diving. We can't say enough good things about our stay.

Hummingbird Villa is an extraordinary property on an extraordinary Island. With five bedrooms, huge living spaces, oversized deck, and plants and flowers galore, the sense of having left this planet for another is striking. Peacefulness is the predominant theme at the Villa as guests decompress in quiet solitude from the outside world. Saba only adds to that sense as there is a general quiet pace to daily life as people quietly and happily "live on the vertical". With few cars Saba takes on a slow pace allowing locals and guests alike to saunter from place to place with out fear of being out horned or out gunned! Our multiple trips to Saba and Hummingbird Villa have always refreshed and rejuvenated us. Do yourself a favor: visit this island and stay at this place. You will be glad you did.

This property will exceed your expectations. From the warm welcome to the final goodbye, everything was better than described. The home is beautiful and well cared for. We were amazed at the level detail that the owner had taken the time and effort to plan and execute.
As a group of six friends, we found there was plenty of room for all of us to have private space as well as togetherness on the deck, the pool or the garden. The views are incredible and the temptation to lounge around the house all day often got the better of us. We used the kitchen for most of our daytime meals and found it to be just right for our needs.
We walked just about everywhere we went. Windwardside is only a five minute walk. As a bonus, as soon as you tell anyone you're staying at the Hummingbird House, they welcome you like a friend. Watch out for the stories!
You can stay here without hesitation. Highly recommended.

We booked the Hummingbird Villa for a family of 6. The house is a beautiful 2 bedroom, plus guest house and additional room with the best sleeper sofa you have ever used. The six of us had plenty of room. The pool in front of the guest house is a great place to relax, even in the winter. The deck offers magnificent views, and being on the windward side there is always has a nice breeze.
The kitchen seperates the living area from the dining area and is equiped with all the cookware you will need. Be sure to let Sea Saba know if you want to be called when the fresh fish comes in.
The location of the house is a ten minute walk to town (grocery stores, restaurants, shops and bars) and about the same distance to two trail heads for a day of hiking.
Thanks Daniel for allowing us to use your home. -

We were a party of 7 - with one non-adult, and it worked out perfectly for us. The house is one of those special places that is welcoming from the moment you enter. It looks fantastic in the pictures, but it is even better in person. The house is just a short walk from town, but everyone is so accommodating, that once you are there a day or two, people know you, and stop and ask if you want a ride!
It's a beautiful view from the back patio - we spent a lot of our time there, soaking up the scenery. It's a great little island, and this house is a perfect base to enjoy it from.

We stayed at Hummingbird House with a toatal of 5 family members. The place had just been used for a wedding and we received the added benefit of the remainning floral decorations. The pool and the deck were regular places to hang out after diving for everyone and on most days you could see 5 other islands from our deck, simply a beatiful vista. Saba itself is a very hilly island so bring your walikng shoes, but Hummingbird House is located close enough to walk to town in the evenings, or to take one of the many hiking trails nearby. Many good friendly places to eat and drink on the island and the dive taxi picked us up at our door every morning. In fact one of the dive masters lived next door. Great place, great island, we highly recomend it!
