“A wonderful retreat!” We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the Coach House.There was a cake awaiting our arrival! The owners were very helpful when a small problem arose and were on to fixing it straight away. The house is in a very quiet area with lovely surroundings. The coast is not too far away with lovely beaches and walks.We loved being there and enjoying the quietness.

“Great quiet location - with noisy floorboards!” This is a lovely cottage situated in the grounds of an old courtyard. It's really lovely and quiet, and it provides easy access to the coast both in Scotland and England. There's some lovely quiet roads around, and an amazing pub in nearby Paxton. The only slight issue I had with the place was the noisy floorboards. If you needed to get up to the loo in the night it was impossible not to awaken the other half ;-)

“a relaxing holiday at your own pace” An excellent very comfortable cottage with all the facilities needed for a quiet get away from it all holiday,great walks and for an evening out for great food you must visit the nearby allanton inn.Our hosts were helpful without being intrusive. It may be off the beaten track but our sat nav found it no problem . All in all a very relaxing time which is what we wanted ,already thinking of going back

“Far from the Madding Crowd” Our time at Barmoor Ridge was filled with wonderful walks, beautiful scenery, lovely accommodation and helpfulness from the owners of the cottage. The cottage is ideally situated for: visits to the coast - picking our way over some of the best shores we have ever walked; treking over the Cheviot Hills with a wonderful backdrop of fields and woodlands; visiting the border towns of Scotalnd which offer so much charm; or for just lazing around, reading or having a nap in such lovely quiet surrounds, interrupted only by the odd tractor, bird song or the bleat of a lamb. The couple who own the property are very warm and friendly people. A welcome pack was there on arrival and had all the right things.

“First class accomodation in a beautiful area with lots to do.” The Farm House is a high standard with a secure garden for children there is lots to do in the area and I would recomend this property to any age group there is lots of space in the house.I stayed there with some of my grandchildren between the ages of 4-9yrs.

“Great place, shame about the rain” We had a great week in Coldstream, the week of Flodden Field celebrations including torchlit procession and fireworks, lots of pipers, etc. Walks in the Hirsel Estate very calming and great trips around local towns and to the coast. A relatively easy drive to Edinburgh on our one sunny day. Facilities and layout very handy, especially for us - family of four with single friend who didn't need to be involved in all the squalor of family life. Rain among the most torrential we've ever seen and the river flooded at the end of the drive - all good fun as long as you don't get too hung up about it.

Peaceful

Loved Gardner's Cottage. Went with husband and Luna the dog. Small enclosed patio with bbq was a great place to sit in the evenings. Little patch of woodland over fence for Luna to run. Nice and roomy cottage which is well equipped. Steps up to front door. There are now two bathrooms. Bit of a drive for shops (Tesco near Berwick). Nice pub with food in village. Owners friendly and helpful. It is on the site of their art studio, which had an open weekend while we were there, so there were people walking around, but only until 4pm. Had to stand in garden for phone reception. Beautiful garden, and situation. Well recommended and would go again. … see more

Isolated, peaceful and comfortable

Friendly welcome by the owner on our arrival. Complimentary bottle of wine provided. Not intrusive during our stay but we were advised who best to contact if there were any problems, location of doctors etc and good pubs and restaurants. The property itself was very clean and provided everything necessary to make our stay comfortable. Somewhat isolated but that suited us as we wanted a peaceful location and there was a long quiet lane across the main road which was perfect for walking the dog off its lead. Surrounding towns were easily accessed by car and we took the opportunity to tour about. We liked the peace and quiet best. … see more
