Cozy "Modular" Style 1 BR with Sleeping Loft Cabin at Three Rivers Resort in Almont (#42)
(Every cabin is named after a fly pattern.)
Cabins 39-44 and 49 are similar styles. These deluxe "mountain chalets" offer all the amenities of a cabin in a modern and compact package. They are perfect units for families. The deluxe models are very new with nice furniture and fixtures for a more "upscale" feel. The layout of these chalets feels more spacious than the standard units or the deluxe on the river units. There is a private bedroom downstairs and a low ceiling (4 feet high) sleeping loft upstairs with mattresses on the floor. Kids love to have their own space to crawl around up here. There are even cupboards to store belongings in this space. The kitchen has modern appliances and the vaulted ceiling gives the living area a roomy feel. Outside there is a large covered deck with patio furniture.
*Note of caution for small children: the steps going up to the loft are steep and narrow and could present a falling hazard. The railing in the upper sleeping area is low enough for a toddler or small child to be able to climb over, presenting a dangerous falling hazard. If you have small children, a gate for the loft stairwell is recommended.

“Three Rivers Resort was a great place in which to stay.”

The cabin was in terrific shape, very clean, and provided a cozy place to stay. I was pleased with the storage space that was available throughout the cabin as well as thoughtful stocking of the kitchen with useful items. The size of the bedroom was an issue. With the storage unit along one wall there was very little room to walk around the bed and suggest removing this wall cabinet.
We found that the cabin could greatly benefit from four items. A couple of comfortable chairs in which to sit and read on the nice deck would have been great on the sunny autumn days. The bathroom needs a robe hook and a hairdryer. A broom and dustpan would have made cleanup a little easier.
A real plus was the friendly advice we received about wonderful places to visit and drives to take to see the fall foliage. This is definitely a location to which we will return when we are in the almont area.

We had been both camping and at a very nice hotel on our vacation, so this cabin in almont was a nice in-between with the comforts and amenities of a mini vacation home. Pros: great porch area with picnic table, bbq, stocked kitchen, nice general store, friendly staff, volleyball and horseshoe areas, and of course all the river activities. Cons: the river access is limited to the cabins located right on the river and the boat launch area or steep drop off spots. Fine for fishing but not much "hang out by the river" area. The couch and bed in the cabin could definitely be replaced.

Our stay was marred with changes in the cabin we were given, inaccuracies in the type of cabin we were given, and worst of all, a lack of any concern for our displeasure, and despite not being given the same type of cabin (twin beds instead of full beds), a complete refusal to consider reducing the price of our nightly rate ($20/night difference).
We were not really unhappy with the change, but the customer service displayed by the manager/owner, was pathetic!
The weak explanation of why we were still being charged for a "Deluxe" unit, when the beds in the "Deluxe" units are listed as "Full size Beds" was that: "some units still have the smaller beds upstairs, that's just the way it is".
Then we were told, "Look, you're getting three nights for the price of two". I guess it was our fault that Three Rivers offered the special! And since we were getting the free night, I guess we shouln't worry about being comfortable! Boy what nerve we had!!
Lastly, we tried to check out the morning we left, and took our keys to Front Desk. One staff person sat reading some paperwork at the desk, and completely ignoring three people's presence 6ft from her, in the otherwise empty area/store. After about 30 seconds, the same manager/owner that gave us his "Velvet treatment in Customer Service" before, looked up from his computer to ask us what we needed. Boy, we really felt the "Love" from this group!! Glad they appreciated our business!!
We've gone to Three Rivers Resort 3 times in the last 5 years, and they sure won't be getting our business any longer. This is a "buddies fishing trip", and we certainly will be staying in Gunnison to enjoy the Taylor River, and the Gunnison.
Needless to say, my wife and I won't be going to Three Rivers for our anniversary in October!!
We'll find some other place that will appreciate our business, and not insult us for taking them up on any offer they might advertise.
p.s. The fishing was better off the property anyway!!
Todd - I'm sorry you had a bad experience and I would be more than willing to discuss this with you personally. I am the resort's General Manager. Mark, with whom you interacted, is our Reservations Manager, not the owner (owner is a different Mark). Most of our reviews reflect the great customer service we deliver so I apologize for the lack of service that you may have experienced. We never intend to "ignore" any of our customers and we do value those who are regular and repeat guests. Your feedback is valuable and we have decided to replace all of our twin beds in those lofts with doubles to prevent any future confusion like this when a reservation has to be moved to a different unit. I will send you an email as well and follow up to see if there is anything we can do to win you back. Sincerely, Jen Stevens

We had a great time at Three Rivers. Our cabin was clean and spacious for the two of us.

cabin was ok, hot water heater failed and beds/sofas were worn out for such an expensive cabin. Food quality low/priced too high. they don't require helmets on class 4 rapids!!! Use scenic rivers, awesome! I also also had $900 charged to my credit card for itunes/apple products by someone (a server) at the 3rivers bar. We used our debit card for pay at pump gas and 3rivers bar only so apparently someone stole the card and verification numbers and made online purchases. It was verified that the product was shipped to colorado so I think it's a valid assumption. They'll be in jail soon...
We always appreciate any feedback that we can use for further training and improvement. I find it interesting, though, that we are just now hearing of these claims 2 months after your stay here. Neither I, as the General Manager, nor our restaurant managers heard anything about a claim that one of our servers may have stolen a credit card number. We would be happy to talk to you about your concern regarding this very serious accusation. Regarding the raft trip - we have not had any Class IV raft trips this summer. That trip only runs through early June if there was enough snow. We DO demand helmets be worn on any Class IV trip. On our regular Class III Upper Taylor trip we will gladly supply helmets at the request of customers and we have done so a handful of times this season. Our safety record for the past 28 years speaks for itself - it is impeccable. The reviews we receive for the cabin you stayed in have been overwhelmingly positive and the bed in that cabin is fairly new however we will investigate further your claims of "worn out" furniture. I would be happy to discuss with you any of your concerns or accusations on the phone or via email. I only wish your concerns had been brought to my attention in a timely manner. This is the first I'm hearing of any of this.

The cabins were very small but clean and efficient. I felt like I was staying in a large gravel parking lot. I had planned to bring a large group of at least 50 people in august 2013 and stay here but it seemed the accommodations were high for the amount of space and view and services compared to condos in Mt. Crested Butte. I would have felt better about your facility had I stayed in a riverside condo.

This is the second family reunion we've had at your resort. Your staff is so helpful and just plain nice. They all act like they love their jobs-refreshing! The cabins are clean and perfect for families. We will definitely be back.

My family of 4 had a wonderful time at the resort. Everything was fabulous! We went rafting (my husband and I) and highly recommend it if you're there during the rafting season. We did a bit of amateur fishing and had a blast but didn't catch anything.
Be sure to check out the variety of cabins available at the resort. There is a great selection, and something for everyone!

I would rent something closer to Taylor if available. But this is the best as close as I can get to Taylor. I would rent in Gunnison if it was closer just due to cost savings. My only real complaint about the cabin is the renters on either side of us were related and various members of their party kept walking into our cabin. Secondly, they would leave their porch light on that illuminate ours in all the rooms and disturb our ability to rest at night.

We really enjoyed our stay. So much to offer right close by and available right at the resort. The cabin was great, but just a little tight in the bedroom. We certainly would come back again, as the service was great. All in all, it was a wonderful place and beautiful area as well.
