Lighthouse View Beach Cottage - Great Ocean Views- 15 minutes to the Redwoods

Crescent City house

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“Great house. Great location. Great vacation!” My family and I stayed at the Lighthouse View Home for 5 nights during the end of September. We absolutely loved the house and the location. The house was very well stocked for our needs. Coming from New Jersey it was quite nice to have the essentials already in place until we could get to a store. Soap, shampoo, laundry detergent and other small necessities that are not conducive to a flight were available. The house itself was very clean and comfortable. We felt like we were home. Also, dealing with the owner was a pleasure. Beth was very prompt in responding to my questions. I found her to be very pleasant and professional. The location of the house was perfect. The neighborhood was incredibly quiet. This is something that is important to me and my family. We enjoy quiet and privacy. In 5 days I never even saw any of the neighbors. The beach can be reached in under a minute. The views were incredible. Being located in Crescent City meant that everything we wanted to see was less than a 2 hour drive. Two hours north and you are in Port Orford which houses a really cool lighthouse. Two hours south and you are in Eureka. In between are absolutely astonishing redwood trees and trails. The natural beauty of this area was something worth seeing. There are so many things to see in this area that another trip will definitely be necessary. When I return I will not even consider another place to stay. Our thanks to Beth for making this one of the most memorable trips we have ever taken.

“Serenity beyond belief!” We fell in love with this place! This was our first trip to the west coast, and now we are planning on coming back as often as we can! I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else! Every night I slept with the windows open so I could fall asleep listening to the waves. Each morning I awoke with excitement to head down to the beach for a stroll. My mother, sister and I would plan each day so that we were back from our site-seeing in time to sit in the hot tub and watch the sunset. Seriously, does it get any better than that? I want to give my daughter the opportunity to have this same experience, so I have already booked our mother/daughter getaway for later this year.

About Crescent City

Crescent City is named after the same shaped stretch of beach in the area. The growing population is testament to the natural beauty of this area. However, this has since been restored.

If you‘re planning on visiting the area, the best time to go is during summer months. Despite Crescent City being considerately cooler than nearby inland locations, the refreshing temperatures make it ideal to spend time outdoors.

Crescent City has moderately warm summers and slightly cooler winters. July and August are the hottest months while December and January are the coldest months. You might want to bring a jacket with you when you travel for evening wear.

B Street Pier is a beautiful sight to visit. You’ll see many fishermen along the way but this is a pier that has to be visited. Alternatively, take a trip to Stout Grove. This amazing natural landscape offers hiking trails for even beginners. There are also huge redwoods and stunning flora to marvel at.

The local cuisine is a tasty treat. Chart Room Restaurant serves delicious seafood as well as scrumptious fish and chips, garlic toast and slaw fries. Every dish is freshly cooked with fresh ingredients so you expect only the best food in town. Elsewhere, Vita Cucina offers a range of salads, sandwiches and gluten free options which are perfect for a quick snack.

Picturesque Forest Home
Bucket List Trip

The house is by far the best around, real close to various attractions: The family wanted the visit Fern Canyon, where Jurassic Park was supposedly filmed. We saw a herd of moose there. Also went to where return of the Jedi was filmed, the trees alone were awesome. Went down into Cresent City saw the light house and lots of seals, Meals in the area were good as well. The maid was awesome, she truly went out of her way for us. Next time we will stay longer, so much there in that area to view and enjoy. Needless to say the house was awesome, which is why we chose it. My deposit was returned as promised. The price was right!see more

Fantastic Stay! Location Great!

Could not have picked a better place to stay. Close to the ocean with great views of the lighthouse. The house felt like home. It was well stocked with all we needed for cooking. We sat on the sunporch each evening after our day of exploring. The fireplace downstairs was warn and cozy each morning. I would definitely stay there again.see more
River Front Home On The Beautiful Smith River
It doesn't get any better than this!

We cannot say enough great things about this River Front home. My husband and I stayed 4 nights this past week. The owner takes great care to make sure you have everything and I do mean everything you would possibly need for your stay. The home is very roomy, clean, beautiful wood covering the walls, nicely decorated, every room is very comfortable. Three TV's in the house, stereo music if you want to use it. Great cell phone and WiFi service. Complete kitchen with stocked pantry, all the comforts of home here. The beds are very comfortable, the leather chair in the living room was my husband's favorite while were in the house. It is quiet and serene. The river can be seen from every room in the back of the house. The landscaping is well maintained as is the home. It has a two car garage, very large driveway, plenty of room for two families. Washer and dryer is available as well as the laundry soap. The patio/deck area has two sitting areas with wrought iron table and chairs, as well as patio chairs, a BBQ pit, and a beautiful fire pit sitting area. The house is exactly as described and I immediately recognized all of the things I saw in the pictures of the property. The river is mesmerizing and we could have looked and listened for much longer than we were able to stay. If you are looking to get it away from it all, you definitely will here at the River House. We can not wait to go back again. Thanks to the owners for offering such a beautiful retreat.see more
