Wolf River Fremont w Private Dock & 180' Frontage
Great Cottage

We absolutely enjoyed everything about our week long stay at this front cottage. It was everything the owner said it was and even more. The pictures are right on and actually they don't do it justice. I am pretty picky about things being fairly nice as well as clean and sanitary. Nothing fancy, but who needs fancy when you are on the river? This place did not disappoint. The place is roomy, well kept, and was spotless when we got there! There was plenty of seating in the living room and the sun room in the front of the house was also roomy with a futon, 2 recliners and an extra kitchen table for eating or keeping fishing supplies. The bedrooms were cozy with a queen in one room and a double in the other room. The bathroom was nice with everything on top top running condition. The central air worked great. The front porch is adorable and we loved spending time on the porch rockers watching the boats go by. The dock was easily accessible and worked out great for the pontoon we rented for the week. There is plenty of outdoor lawn furniture to enjoy the large deck. The fire pit and chairs are exactly as pictured. We brought our own wood although there was some on site. There is also a gas grill available. There were plenty of bath towels, dishes. and pots and pans. Bring ALL of your own cooking food items (down to the salt and pepper) because there is nothing left behind. As in some places I've stayed, you will not find spices, paper towels, or much extra toilet paper here, so come prepared. There is not a large grocery store nearby. But you can get some things at a nearby Citco or we also used the Mobil's small convenience store and could get there parking the boat near the Bridge Bar and walking just a block or so. The cottage does not have wi-fi but my 3G connected for me. The one television has Dish with lots of selection. There are many restaurants with bars along the river. We enjoyed both The Bridge Bar and Hahna Lua by boat. The Anchor Point Marina had fast and friendly service every time that we needed gas for the boat. We rented our pontoon and a jet ski for a couple of hours from Freemont Water Sports having great service as well. Another thing we liked about this cottage was the central location. It's located on The Wolf River right in the middle of Lake Partridge and Lake Poygan. We enjoyed fishing and playing in both lakes. If you have time, take a trip all the way up The Wolf River to New London. My husband and I enjoyed the scenery and quietness along the way. The only complaint and forewarning that I have has nothing to do with the cottage, but with the Winnebago County law enforcement. The river is a no wake zone from Friday at midnight through Sunday, which is fine and understandable. But the Winnebago County boat law enforcemect were out of hand. As we traveled along the river next to many other boats following the no wake rule, they were pulling boats over left and right. At times they had one boat pulled over with two others tied and waiting for them. These boaters were not visibly doing anything wrong. Law enforcement was simply picking on anyone and everyone and pullin th over to check for equipment etc even if they weren't in obvious violation. Families with small children, older couples, younger people were all being stopped. This went on both weekend days the entire time. The "feel" of the river and the mood of the vacationers was dreary and depressing as we boated or watched boaters hobby. Although we were never stopped, I'm sure many vacationers would agree that enforcement officials seemed like bullies trying to spoil everyone's pleasant time. If people were being crazy and obviously disobeying boat rules then yes, pull them over. Instead, it appeared to be a witch hunt to find small infractions for issuance of tickets. Someone in the county needs to address this issue as I know it discouraged us from possible return as it will many others. Jerry was very easy to work with and was available by email anytime we needed him. Jus check in and check out directions were a breeze. He even let us know about the few things we had forgotten and had the cleaners leave it with the neighbors for pick up since we were still in the area.see more
