“Mountain Star Resort, A Piece of Mountain Paradise!” The first time I ever heard of Kendrick Park, near Flagstaff, AZ, was an article I read, in the July 2011 arizona Highways magazine. The first time I ever met Rob Dutton, the impressive owner of Mountain Star Resort, was in the fall of 2011. Rob's enthusiasm of his "piece of paradise" in Kendrick Park, and, life in general, is infectious! With Rob's people-loving personality, he will treat you like family & leave you with an unforgettable impression! He champions hospitality! Let me assure you that Rob will gain the greatest and most significant enjoyment when he sees and hears the enjoyment of his guests! Mountain Star Resort is a place where every element of the local culture can gather and feel welcome. This Resort features a peaceful, tranquil sanctuary & provides an unparalleled encounter with nature, wildlife and the fresh mountain air. Mountain Star Resort offers not just a singular experience, within the Flagstaff area, but one unique in the southwest. The peacefulness and beauty that surrounds Mountain Star Resort is the home to many varieties of native grasses and plants and it is the natural environment that draws you in. The owner of Mountain Star Resort is committed to preserving the integrity of the land and its resources. A stay at Mountain Star Resort is magical and an enchanted experience. I could sit forever on the deck and listen to the stillness of the great outdoors, or watch the unpretentious wildlife that may pass along, or see what the night sky has to offer. Those of us who have been so fortunate to experience what Kendrick Park/Mountain Star Resort has to offer, few places capture the essence, elements and enhanced experience like Mountain Star Resort! While in Kendrick Park, you breathe a sweeter air. I fell in love with the whole experience in Kendrick Park! Mountain Star Resort is one of the "crowning jewels" of Kendrick Park!

About Grand Canyon National Park

Humans have been in the Grand Canyon National Park region since the Paleo-Indian period... that's over 12,000 years ago!

Native Americans still live in a reservation on the Canyon’s south rim and in the canyon itself. It's worth spending time visiting the reservations. Meet members of the Havasupai (meaning people of the blue-green waters) and be sure to visit the Hopi and Navajo reservations.

Take your bathing suit with you to the Grand Canyon National Park. There are many pools with clear blue water to swim in.

There's lots of things to eat here. Try buffalo steak, or experience a Grand Canyon cookout with smoked beef brisket, roasted chicken, skillet cornbread and all the trimmings. You can get Mexican food and Italian too, but in the Grand Canyon, traditional American food is arguably the cuisine to go for!

The Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona is an awe-inspiring place, and a must-see for kids and adults alike.

What to do

To get a bird's eye view of the Grand Canyon National Park, go for a 45-minute helicopter flight from Tusayan.

You may want to take a trip on a mule, either one that lasts for a few hours, or an overnight trip. But if you do, you need to book well in advance of your visit. There are daily tours of the South Rim, but North Rim mule rides are seasonal, from mid-May through mid-October.

If you love cycling, you can either take your bike with you, or rent one and go on a guided South Rim bicycle tour (weather permitting!).

You can walk along the canyon rim at the South Rim and walk along the Trail of Time. Shuttle buses take you to either end of the trail from Yavapai Point where the geology museum is located, or from Verkamp's Visitor Center, east of the historic Grand Canyon Village.

If you love being on the water, go on a white-water raft trip on the Colorado River. Smooth water raft trips from Glen Canyon Dam to Lees Ferry are also available.

There are lots of shuttle services you can get from the surrounding major cities, as well as some of the smaller towns around the South Rim.

If you want to switch Rims during your stay, there’s also a shuttle service for that from mid-May to mid-October.

One day tours of the canyon can be booked from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon Village.

You can take the Grand Canyon railway to Grand Canyon village, or Amtrak to and from Flagstaff.
