“Heaven!!! Highly recommended ;)” Cosy homely feel, the owners were very welcoming and helpful always. Great location and hot tub was fab! Beautiful cottage with lovely log fire which made our Christmas week perfect including the Christmas tree provided, lovely touch. “Great break after recent hospital treatment.” Good welcome pack in accommodation which was appreciated. The cottage was excellent for our requirements with a pet labrador. The location was well placed for touring Cumbria and the Lake District. Although we did not take advantage of the amenities they appeared well managed and very good. We liked the available walks through the valley especially with our dog. Although no doubt temporary ongoing contruction work made for very muddy conditions on the approach to the cottage. The settee was not the most comfortable for a weeks stay.

“Beautifully decorated and furnished.” This is a lovely place for a couple to stay. It makes a great base for a touring holiday in Northumberland. In walking distant of Hadrian's Wall. The inside is done to a very high standard and is comfortable. There's plenty of shops, cafes and pubs in the village. The only downside is that it's on a main road but that didn't detract from our enjoyment of our holiday in any way.

“Quick visit for mountain biking and beer” Although only a short stay it was a delightful one. The principal reason for the trip was to get out on a good mountain bike ride. Our ride was an all day epic starting from the front door and out over the fells, finishing in the pub in Hesket Newmarket just down the road. It was great to explore fells I've never visited before and a special mention should go to the Old Crown Pub in Hesket Newmarket for its great ale. The accommodation was clean and bright and surprisingly spacious. The cottage is approached up a drive that keeps you nicely away from the road and leads to a paved area which looks like a good spot to eat outside, although we didn't on this stay, preferring to walk back to the pub instead. Living room has a lovely view across the paved area to the trees on the valley side opposite. The cottage had a good sized modern kitchen and bathrooms which looked to have been recently refurbished, comfy bed and nice garden. I intend to visit again with family later this year.

“Amazing house!” Having just spent a long weekend at Dalkeith House with the family I would highly recommend it! The accommodation is definitely 5 star luxury...large comfortable lounge with wood burning fire, TV room to chill out in, opulent dinning room where there is plenty of dinner service for you to enjoy a meal at the huge table and also a full china set that we enjoyed serving afternoon tea in! The kitchen has everything you will ever need and the breakfast room that looks out into the garden. The bedrooms are all spacious and the beds are very comfortable. Bathrooms are well decorated and everyone commented on how good the showers were! The house has a sound system that you can connect your i-pod to listen to your music in the lounge, dining room and breakfast room. The house is located in the main square in a quiet village so is perfect for getting away from it all. Thank you Barbara for a lovely stay at Dalkeith House.
