“Beautiful house in the perfect English village” Castle View is a very comfortable holiday cottage in the heart of the picturesque village of Yorkshire. The kitchen is narrow, which is a bit inconvenient if you occupy the house with 6 people or more, but in general the house is perfectly equipped and very well maintained. The area around Helmsley is gorgeous : Rievaulx abbey, the North York Moors, the Yorkshire Coast, the city of York are all nearby.

“The perfect 'get away from it all' cottage” From the moment we were welcomed by the owner to the moment we left this was the perfect get away from it all break. The cottage was very cosy for a winter break, we could also see it as ideal for those warmer evenings, sitting outside by the beck. Although Lastingham is in a lovely quiet valley the towns of Whitby, Scarborough and Malton are all within easy reach. Walking on the Moors is accessible from the door-step,wonderful countryside to explore in all seasons as long as you are fully prepared; walking boots,etc. are essential. We hope to return in the very near future.

“Very relaxing” The property makes for an excellent base for travelling to the coast or the North Yorkshire Moors. The property owners are extremely friendly and helpful. The property is spotlessly clean. The pub is just two minutes walk across the road; the food and service are second to none and the staff are very accommodating and everyone is dog friendly. This was our second visit to this property and we will probably visit again.

“Home away from Home” We found the Victoria Cottage a great place to stay and would highly recommend it. There was a couple issues such as turning on the TV a bit of an issue and also the washing machine but once we got the hang of it all was well. We also found the kitchen fully equipped and spotless. If a person was expecting wifi and internet service they would be disappointed as it is not available.

“Wonderful” When we arrived at Wheelhouse, we were immediately met by our hostess who could not have been more helpful. On opening the door to this immaculate cottage, we entered a spacious hallway and with billowing curtains...it was a hot sunny day the 1st week of June, so Sharon had opened the windows and patio doors to let the air circulate for us. It was perfect! a welcome, balloon, bottle of wine and other goodies were left for us. It was The nicest cottage we have stayed in. All 3 bedrooms were big, airy and comfortable. Excellent bathroom and kitchen facilities and the living room room/ kitchen opens up onto a private courtyard with table, chairs and an umbrella for shade. The cottage was beautifully and tastefully decorated, not too fussy with too many ornaments to break! all in all, it was a perfect holiday destination.

“lovely cottage” We stayed at yeoman cottage for 2 weeks in January and have to say we had a lovely time The cottage was warm,welcoming and spotless and a joy to stay in would recommend it to everyone One of the nice things about it was a full size freezer and washer which makes life a lot easier The only think I can find fault with is having to pay £70 booking fee when I booked it in one go so felt one booking fee should have surfisedand that has put us off booking with sykes again

“Beautiful location with excellent views” Very welcoming on arrival: collected keys from friendly hotel staff. The lodge was perfect: lovely and clean, well furnished and decorated and a good size. Tranquil setting amongst beautiful scenery, peacocks roaming around the grounds! Fantastic walk through woodland path to safe sandy beach - and great facilities in the town. Can't wait to return!

“Unexpected pleasure” We were very pleasantly surprised by this lodge. The hotel were very helpful in providing extra bed linen and there is a very convenient supermarket close by to buy provisions. The lodge was clean and well equipped and you get regular visits by the local peacocks which is lovely until they decide to jump on the roof in the early hours! We would definitely book to go again and hopefully get a few other friends to take other lodges at the same time. (we wouldn't bother with breakfast in the hotel again though)

“awesome” what a wonderful place, and the hosts were lovely people as well as the pets. Great location. Could not fault the accomadation, most comfortable bed we slept in, would reccomend it to any body, and if ever we went back to yorkshire we would stay there again for sure. “3 generations and 2 dogs” We spent a very successful week here in the spring with our daughter, baby grandson and two border terriers. With excellent walks just outside the door and shopping only minutes away by car, it served our various needs well. The cottage is comfortable and the kitchen is well-equipped. The double bedroom is very small so don't take big cases or loads of clothes because there is very limited storage. However we were able to fit a dog cage in the lobby where our two dogs slept comfortably. We even entertained friends to lunch and the cottage coped well.
