“Best weekend ever :)” I have recently rented the bungalow and just have great things to say about it. The place is so cozy, and cute, they had everything we needed and the location couldn't be better. It's very close to any of the skii resorts and many attractions, market...It was only my boyfriend and I and the bungalow was just the perfect choice to spend a holiday weekend. Ella, the owner, was very helpful providing us any info we could need. We are already planning to go back the beggining of the year and summer for sure. Thank you so much Ella!!!

“Very Enjoyable!!!” This cabin was everything we needed and more. This was mine and my husband's first time away since we had children. This was so enjoyable, the cabin was perfect. We actually plan on coming back and bringing our children. It is so quiet we could hear the leaves fall. The owner was so helpful and very nice. I will for sure be back soon.

“Just couldn't be better!” I have just returned from a 12 day stay at Killdeer Nook. As a woman vacationing on her own this was a wonderful experience. The cabin was just right for a solo retreat. The views were fabulous! One could hike in any direction. The pond was a perfect place to sit in the evenings. The open space and quiet were beyond description. The owners, Rob and Brenda, couldn't have been nicer and more helpful! Killdeer Nook is going to become an annual tradition for me.

“Wonderful Time!!” We wanted to get away to the mountains for a quiet retreat. The house was clean, the grill was perfect, and the view was great. Also, tubing down the new river was a great time. I would recommend using Zaloos tubing and canoeing. My only criticism is that they advertise trails and areas to explore, but it is really hard to get to explore because of the vegetation. There is no aC upstairs, but fans worked pretty well to cool it off. Also, if you go for the dish tv, their package is about 10 or so stations. However, we were there to get away from tv and cell service and would definitely stay there again.

“Great time at King's Mountain Laurel” We are two adventurous Senior Adult couples who wanted to get away from it all for Thanksgiving. That's exactly what we found at this lovely cabin on top of this mountain, and the owner was warm and friendly. We were comfy, warm and the views from the porch was incredible! The driveway was a thrill and not for the faint of heart, but we had an experienced driver so we had no problems. Daniel's Steakhouse served a great Thanksgiving meal; Georgia Mountain Restruant had a great breakfast, and we shopped and explored the surrounding area on Friday...Don't miss Bell Mountain (another thrill) in Hiawassee, and Mark of the Potter in Clarksville. “100% recommendable!” We tremendously enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was as promised, remote (but not very difficult to get to) , isolated from the daily assault of internet and cell phone services and surrounded by 100% beautiful nature with the Chinati mountains to north and the Sierra Madre to the south, both of which could be enjoyed in a panorama view from the spacious balcony. As for the cabin, don’t expect the sterility of a commercial rental. This is more like your best friend handed over the key to his cabin. We found the cabin clean and cosy and little by little discovered some gems on the bookshelves and in the CD rack. The bed was very comfortable and kept us warm even during cold winter nights. The wood stove kept the cabin warm during the day. Across the road is a simple resort called variously Chinati or Ruidosa Hot Springs. For $15 a person you can get a day pass with access to the “communal pool”, which has about as much charm as a fitness club hot tub, only it is not really hot but lukewarm. We did not bother. Hiking along the road rewards you with some spectacular views and the cabin itself has a cute winding trail of about 1 mile, which starts on the north side of the house (walk in the direction of the fence). All other roads and trails are private and unfortunately, there is no public access to the Rio Grande/Bravo anywhere close. So mostly, you get to enjoy the cabin, which was fine by us. 100% recommendable!

“Great location for a quite getaway” I booked this cabin for my wife and myself for our anniversary. The weather did not cooperate as it rained heavily on the day we arrived. The family that owns this cabin are very nice and will help with any needs. I had to have them bring a tractor and pull my van out when I got it stuck on the wet loose gravel and there were no complaints. We enjoyed ourselves in this quiet wooded setting and saw wildlife just outside the cabin. We walked down to the river which was muddy and rolling by due to the rain. We drove in to Beattyville for lunch and supplies and ate dinner at Red River Rock House. Other than those 2 excursions. we spent the rest of our weekend at the cabin and walking around the property. Our overall experience was quite enjoyable and is worth repeating.
