“Dream Holiday!” We stayed at Casa Loma last summer and had an effortlessly reviving experience. This place is minutes (on foot!) from some of the most beautiful beaches in Puerto! It's absolutely clean and safe due to the watchful attention of a lovely housekeeper and regal gentleman gardener in his 80's :) !! The best thing about this place is the roof terrace with two levels of ocean-viewing bliss, two hammocks, lounging furniture, table and chairs and ample room to do your morning yoga practice or sip on fresh juice while sunbathing in privacy (read: naked). By the way, the kitchen is fully stocked, nothing special but absolutely fine. With the nightlife, seafood and tacos around town, you won't be eating in too often! But, if you do--Casa Loma is minutes away from the grocery store and many other small bodegas as well as a block from a cute, family-owned internet "cafe" (not a cafe so much as a room with ancient monitors and stiff chairs...which is good b/c you didn't come to Mexico to be online...right?) The design of the place is super cute too, with bright, festive accents. Chuck and Mary (the owners that you'll deal with upon renting) seem thoughtful and definitely knowledgeable about Mexican culture and Puerto in general. They're world travelers themselves and seem to earnestly want to make your stay great and easy. We rented a scooter for a few days and zipped around the countryside. I suggest you stay at Casa Loma and do the same!

“A quiet, clean beautiful place to stay” We stayed three nights at Villa Cielo. It was extremely quiet and, although it seems somewhat out of the way, we found that a three block walk took us to a major road where we could easily get a taxi. Robert, the owner, is very helpful and the rates are a bargain, especially for a larger family or group. It is also located at the end of the street right on the edge of the forest. Birdlife is abundant--we saw several chacalacas, for instance.

Stunning house/salt heated pool nr center,Oaxaca City
Charming Casita

A short bus or taxi ride from Oaxaca city, this 2 br house in San Felipe del agua, at the base of the mountains, is an excellent location for a couple or small family (we were 4 adults and one child.) Small stores and a thrice weekly mercado are in walking distance, as is the bus stop, there is a lovely church, and a swimming pool is available (and desirable during the hot months!) Our host, Sergio, was there to greet us, kindly provided coffee and a few essentials for our first morning, and drove us to a nearby restaurant for our first breakfast. Mayra, who cleans the house weekly, was very helpful, especially when we had a problem with the gate lock. Everything worked well in the house otherwise; we usually had meals outside on the patio if not dining in town. The village atmosphere was a welcome respite after touring the valley or visiting downtown. An excellent Spanish school is also a 20 minute walk away, and we took lessons twice. We eventually got used to the roosters, dogs and firecrackers (but bring those earplugs anyway!) My sister even missed the night sounds after she went home. It is very easy to communicate with the owners or their neighbor. We enjoyed the artwork in the house, and a boom box was available-we found a good Mexican music channel. The only real problems we encountered were the gate lock (resolved) and the difficulty of finding the return bus routes in town due to 'bloqueos.' Other than that, we had a great time and would recommend the house to anyone who wants to experience Oaxaca.see more
Heavenly Villa Huatulco
Great Xmas Vacation

Last December we booked Villa Cielo Natural for a full week to spend Xmas with our famiily and friends. There were 12 people in our party along with 3 small doggies and we never felt crowded. The place is very clean, beautiful, rustic in stile and very welcoming. Robert was a great host, always available but never intruding. The centric location of the house makes it very easy to reach everything in Santa Cruz (markets, restaurants, parks and the beach) everything is minutes away by walking, biking or driving. The home is not luurious but it has everything you will need and it is very well maintained. It is set at the top of a hill so there are several stairs, but the views up top make it all worth it. It also has lots of vegetation and the fauna that comes with it, so if you are a nature lover like us, you will love it. We trully enjoyed our stay in Huatulco. We felt at home and are definitely planning to go back to stay at Robert's beautiful house.see more
House By The Sea- Huge Infinity Pool
This is house and the staff are beyond amazing

We stayed at Casa Junto al Mar for the first 2 weeks of January 2015 and it was amazing. The house is incredible and equipped with anything one could need for a stellar vacation. The staff was so wonderful. Victoria (the housekeeper) is a joy to have around. She is sweet, kind, helpful and she became a friend during our stay. Edith (the property manager) was super helpful and did everything in her power to create and maintain a lovely environment for our stay. I can't say enough about what a great time we had, really. We will go back as soon as possible. Thank you so much, Edith and Victoria!see more
Oaxaca Penthouse Apartment
Architectural dream.

Good thing the weather is usually mild in Oaxaca cuz our big ceiling to floor sliding windows open up to a tiled patio that was just right for a little late night mescal. We had all the amenities yet felt like we were a part of this authentic Mexicana experience that no one else could possibly know exists. It was a very personal adventure although the stairs leading to our front door are not handicapped accessible, but good for us. Anthony, the proprietor/host lives nearby and was readily available for any eventuality and to answer questions about this fabulous city which he clearly adores. We'll be back!see more

Casa Mihale-Sweeping Ocean Vistas New Beach Home
tropical elegance in a sleepy fishing village

Thank you, Leigh, for creating such a beautiful place to share with discerning travelers! We just came back from 10 days in her very special home in beach paradise that brings the best of Western comforts to the simplicity of Mexican village life. The house is set back enough from the beach and road to feel private but close enough to hear the thunderous crashing of the waves and breathe in the ocean air. Just about every amenity has been accounted for, even sun block and natural mosquito repellants in case you forgot them. The attention to detail in the woodwork throughout the home has even inspired us for our own home renovations. If you're not familiar with San Agustinillo all you need to know is that it's a sleepy fishing village turned mellow vacation town that offers excellent beachfront restaurants (that include top notch pizza and vegetarian venues), great swimming, boogie boarding and surfing, and boat rides pretty much guaranteed to bring you to dolphins, sea turtles and manta rays, not to mention a cache of seafood to take home and cook in Casa Mihale's well-equipped kitchen. If you're not a fan of heavily touristed destinations, this is the perfect blend of having choices but still feeling off the beaten path. Chris and Andrea Brooklyn, NYsee more
