SPECTACULAR BEACHFRONT ROOFTOP PENTHOUSE IN LAS TERRENAS: A CARRIBEAN DREAM
Las Terrenas apartment
3 bedrooms / 4 bathrooms / sleeps 8
“Just another Day in Paradise!” My family and I spent a marvelous week at this elegant property and have not stopped raving about our stay to family and friends. The penthouse itself is spacious and well equipped with 4 sliding doors that look out over the pool, beach and out into the sea. The cook, recommended by the manager, prepared a scrumptious lunch, which we enjoyed each day on one of the two terraces. We primarily used our rented quad to ride into town for shopping, and to go out to dinner on several days.My in-law's, who live in the DR, came up for a few days and we used their car to get around when we were going out with a larger group. We found several restaurants we enjoyed, nearby. There were plenty of things to do in and around town, including scuba diving, kayaking, day trips to Limon or simply walking along the beach. We are already planning to return next year and to extend our stay to 2 weeks.

“Amazing time and beautiful place” I stayed at the Loma Taniera residence in house# 2 for a week in the context of a wedding organized by friends where 32 of us were staying in 4 houses. All houses are equally beautiful and comfortable. The staff is very nice, houses are very clean. The view on the water from the hills is stunning. The residence is very well maintained and has all amenities you need (in each house: AC, internet, swimming pool, laundry, etc.). It is still an area which is not too developed so internet can be a bit slow sometimes, but it works. Fred, the owner of the place organized activities for us every day: picknick/BBQ on private beaches only accessible by boat, quad (ATV) rides in the mountain to swim in waterfalls, horse riding on the beach, yoga classes at the house, massage, etc... We had an amazing time and Fred was always on top of things for us.

“Spectacular view and relaxation.” This house is 100 times better than staying at any hotel, it has all you need even your own personal Chef! It is spacious, inviting and the pool has a way of keeping you in day and night. There are many places to visit, and all within minutes by car and one hour at the most when going to Samana, Limon Waterfall is a must.

“Comfortable, Close to Beach” This is a lovely unit just off the beach in residence surrounded by similar units, and accessed via gate. The unit doesn't have air conditioning (fans in every room, including porch) but that was the only set back. It is close to town and very close to the beach. The afternoon evening front desk guy was very helpful. The place was clean and roomy, having your own kitchen on vacation is so nice! And, the front porch is a definite plus, we spent most of our evening out front sipping on presidente. A great find!

“Private Luxury!!” Our stay at Vista Mare was amazing and my husband and I would love to return there in the future. The hotel was almost empty for most of our trip, which was very nice because it felt very quiet and private. There was almost no one at the beaches and very few people in the restaurant. The food we ate during our stay was all very good. The fresh fruit in our kitchen on the day we arrived was some of the most delicious fruit I have ever tasted. Likewise, the food at the restaurant was gourmet quality, reasonably priced (us$ 9 for a pasta dish) and the service was exceptional. My husband and I speak very limited Spanish, but the friendly servers spoke some English, so this was not a problem. We also ate some delicious dinners in Samana. Vista Mare itself is an amazingly beautiful place. Each unit has a balcony that has a breathtaking view that overlooks the beach and gets plenty of sunshine all day long. The resort is built onto the side of a very steep hill which makes for incredible views from the restaurant and pool at the top of the hill. We watched whales from our breakfast table all week long. The hill drops more than 200 hundred feet from the main gate to the beach. We are young and healthy so this was not a problem for us, although I would not recommend this place for people with bad knees or who can't climb more than a few flights of stairs. The room was cleaned everyday and the maid even tended to our dishes. All the employees at Vista Mare were very friendly and very professional. Humberto and Jose, who work at the restaurant, were excellent. The front desk concierge spoke enough English to make up for our poor Spanish skills, and the maids and security guards always greeted us with a smile. Vista Mare is gated and most of the units are set back from the road. There are security guards stationed around the property, which contributed to the overall feeling of safety.

“Live like comfortably a "local" at el Nido” We spent a week at Carolyn’s place. It felt like home from the moment we arrived at the airport. The personal service was perfect – not overbearing or pretentious. She is always available to tend to needs. The accommodations are in a cozy, very clean, friendly and safe setting amidst singing birds, a variety of flowers, coconut trees, and a few steps from the pool. A short walk to the beach and town of Las Terrenas provided ample opportunity for recreation and entertainment. ‘Like a local’, you can shop for fresh food, dine out, experience the town on foot, scooter or ATV, or hire a ‘taxi’ for 50 pesos. It was an ideal setting for a sunrise-beach wedding with perfect weather, privacy, and rolling waves. We anticipate many returns to this unique holiday location. The odd power outage added an excuse for a lantern/candle light dinner al fresco. We highly recommend it if ‘all inclusive” resorts and crowds are not your thing.
