“Country Escape” The last mile or two may be long but this wonderful house is worth it. A superb character farmhouse in a wonderful setting. A cosy, secret retreat. Make sure you explore the grounds down to the river. The games room was a bonus. Highly recommended.

“Very relaxing” The property makes for an excellent base for travelling to the coast or the North Yorkshire Moors. The property owners are extremely friendly and helpful. The property is spotlessly clean. The pub is just two minutes walk across the road; the food and service are second to none and the staff are very accommodating and everyone is dog friendly. This was our second visit to this property and we will probably visit again.

“Beautiful cottage in a great location” This is a beautiful and clean cottage - perfect for a family or group of friends. The location is fantastic, on the edge of the village on the path to the cove, but just minutes from pubs, etc. I would definitely recommend this cottage to others

“Very enjoyable” The property is beautifully restored and maintained, quiet and very warm and comfortable. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. York, Pickering and beautiful countryside are within easy reach.

“Well situated” Excellent facilities. Car parking not always easy. Close to town centre. Good situation for Yorkshire moors. Loved Whitby, plenty of places to see, abbey well worth the steps walk. Lots of places to eat out. Clear instructions to access property. Great for winter break as well as summer.

“Arklethwaite” Very cosy cottage very well equipted. Lovely walks nearby. Langthwaite is a very pretty little village with small friendly pub. Parking just a little bit away from the cottage. Only drawback is it has no garden to sit out in.

“Perfect!!” The Goat Shed was the perfect place to spend our 10 year wedding anniversary. Lovely walks close by and friendly pubs (which welcomed our dog Busta!)...all in all a perfect place to spend a week relaxing. Highly recommend the Goat Shed for couples wanting to get away from it all.

“Perfect retreat for couples” Excellent welcome on arrival, very spacious & clean. Both cottage & surrounding area absolutely first class. Will defiantly recommend to friends & family. Really good heating system & plenty of hot water.The thing we liked best was the lovely bathroom facilities. The thing we liked least was the TV was too small for the room although it worked well & had plenty of channels.

“Recreation, pure nature and millions of sheeps.” A nice and cosy cottage. Welcome-eggs. The cottage is small but enough for 2 adults. It is not easy to find if you are not from Great Britain. We missed the small road two times. But when we reached the "goal" it was, for us, typical English, nice and kind. We had a wonderful week with good weather and not so good weather. And I had never seen so much sheeps in my live.

“Stunningly secluded, brilliant cottage” Where do I start? This was my second visit in six months and it felt like "coming home". Mrs. Scott (the owner) and her daughter keep their well-appointed cottage in excellent condition there's even a small collection of dvd's and board games should the weather turn nasty; I was there when the a1 was flooded for three days. Their welcome was as warm and friendly as before (the first time I was there I was even able to borrow a hairdryer as I'd forgotten mine!). The cottage is exactly as it's described, secluded. I went there to write in peace and found precisely that. The landlord and landlady at the local pub are great and the food is excellent - try the cheese platter - although it's a tad more than a five minute walk from Shepherd's Cottage. If you're into walking then this is the place to be; the sorrounding countryside is magnificent. What didn't I like? Having to leave.

“Fantastic - perfect for a cosy weekend” I absolutely loved this place! Set in the middle of no where, perfectly furnished, lovely cottage, a local town about 10 minute drive away which has everything you can need. The only down side was lack of mobile signal but if you want the perfect get away that's no problem! I will definetely be returning and recommending to friends as it's perfect!
