“Wonderful stay” Wonderful vacation in a charming home located in a very strategical position! My husband, my little daughter and me stayed there for one week in february during carnival days. The house, wondefully restored, is big and comfortable and the athmosphere inside the house is really magical. There are three bedrooms and three bathrooms! You can sleep beyond ancient and magnificent chinese doors, or in a romantic oriental bed, earing water whispering coming from the canal. Otherwise you can choose the ultra romantic underroof. The living zone is huge (with two very big sofas) and comfortable. You can also light your fire in big and old-fashioned camino. But what's really worth the stay is the strategical position: La Sensa is located in the Ghetto, few minute walking from all the most strategical position (railway station and San Marco, for instance). A very magical vacation in the most beautiful city in the world lived, staying in a house that makes you forget you have to go out to live the magic!

Palladio Garden - contemporary style apartment with shared garden

Venice apartment

  • 2 bedrooms
  • 2 bathrooms
  • sleeps 5

“Comfort, quiet and a spectacular view across the Guidecca canal.” The Palladio garden was just what we needed in Venice. We were attending the Biennale but had teenagers with us, so we needed somewhere a short hop to the Giardini, but with a relaxing lounge and comfortable beds so girls and we could recharge. Stepping out each morning to the wonderful light, water and openness of the Guidecca canal was a real treat. Kitchen and bathrooms had all we needed for convenience and the service from our rep from Truly Venice was excellent. Note that the Dosoduro is a quiet neighbourhood and you are a boat ride or a walk over the academia bridge. But we liked that! We shall stay here again.

Alba D'Oro - Venice apartment with breathtaking Grand Canal view

Venice apartment

  • 1 bedroom
  • 1 bathroom
  • sleeps 4

“So nearly perfect” Alba D'Oro is a large, very comfortable and surprisingly quiet apartment at the very centre of Venice life. It is beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and well decorated. However, we thought that providing just two long stemmed wine glasses, in an apartment for four, was a bit mean and that the kitchen was not as well equipped as other apartments we have rented from Truly Venice and other people over the years. In fact the limited crockery and cutlery available made the dish-washer fairly redundant. Apart from this small gripe, we would thoroughly recommend both alba D'Oro and Truly Venice to anyone looking for an extra-special apartment in Venice.

Dogaressa - the best view you can dream of

Venice apartment

  • 4 bedrooms
  • 4 bathrooms
  • sleeps 8

“Open the curtains and...wow!” To arrive at your front door by water taxi direct from the airport is a great way to start a break at Dogaressa. To open the curtains on your first morning is just unbelievable; gondoliers preparing their boats for a day's work against the backdrop of the Santa Maria della Salute- the church so close that you can almost reach out and touch it. To landward as well the location is wonderful, seconds from a main shopping street and minutes from San Marco, yet quiet and hidden away. The apartment is spacious although don't expect too many mod-cons. Would I recommend this property to lovers of Venice? Absolutely!

Rezzonico Suite - with direct access and view on the Grand Canal

Venice apartment

  • 1 bedroom
  • 1 bathroom
  • sleeps 4

“What a great place!” We finished our last Europe holiday with a week in Venice and booked, what turned out to be, this lovely and centrally located apartment direct on the Grand Canal. It had all the mod cons one would need to make a stay comfortable and easy. Having access to the wonderful gardens was also a plus. Having them housekeeper living on the premises was also advantageous. Watching the passing parade of ferries, gondolas, water taxis and barges from the front lounge room was quite interesting. The bedroom, in the centre of the unit, had a good bed but needed to have better airflow. The only drawback was the occasional early morning clatter of barges negotiating the entrance to the small canal a few metered away. Dorsoduro is a nice, quite 'suburban' locality with terrific, little and inexpensive restaurants, all within easy reach of the unit. We would certainly consider staying here again.

Altana - San Marco roof-top terrace with pitoresque canal view

Venice apartment

  • 1 bedroom
  • 1 bathroom
  • sleeps 4

“Excellent location and very comfortable” This flat was so convenient for all the sites - just seven minutes from San Marco. It was clean, quiet, comfortable and pretty well-equipped. Perfect for one couple. Definitely not for young children or very old people - the staircase to the upstairs sitting room could be very dangerous. The bathroom was rather tired, and the shower was not good - you either had to hold the nozzle close to you, or drench the bathrooom floor. The bed was large and comfortable. We had a lovely view up the canal leading to the Grand Canal, and enjoyed the "traffic jam" of gondolas as we ate breakfast in our kitchen!

About Venice

The jewel of the Adriatic Sea, Venice is filled with romance. As many visitors to this Northern Italian city will tell you, Venice's famous canal-lined neighborhoods are as beautiful in reality as they are in the imagination. Once the most important port in Italy, Venice was built atop a series of small islands that are connected by narrow waterways. These canals function like roads in this unusual city, where automobile traffic is almost nonexistent. The distinctive urban map, along with the city's elaborate Gothic architecture, has made Venice one of the world's most famous destinations.

During the Renaissance, Venice was home to a prominent artistic community. Today, Venice continues to play an important role in the international arts culture with many renowned museums and galleries. Venetian craft is among the most famous in Italy, including the popular and widely exported Merino glass produced on a small island just outside the city center. Venice is also the host of one of the world's most important art fair, the Venice Biennale, which draws huge crowds of celebrities, journalists, artists, and tourists for exhibitions and parties.

Eating and drinking is another centerpiece of the Venice experience. Here, small trattorias and cafes prepare a range of regional dishes, like risotto with cuttlefish and fish soup, which pair perfectly with Northern Italian wines.

If you've never been to Venice, the place to start is in the water. Take a gondola ride through the twisting waterways or hop on a vaporetto, a public water-bus, down the Grand Canal. From the canals, you can admire gorgeous Venetian architecture, tiny footbridges, and charming open-air cafes throughout the city center.

In addition, don't miss:

  • Piazza San Marco: This is the heart of Venice and the site of splendid St. Mark's Cathedral, an architectural gem built over the course of many centuries.
  • The Grand Canal: The city's main artery, this large canal is crisscrossed by motorboats and flanked by palaces.
  • Doge's Palace: Also known as the Palazzo Ducale, this architectural wonder was built in the 10th century. Today, it is a handsome museum with art by Venetian masters
  • Galleria dell'Accademia: This famous museum holds a collection of Renaissance art by Venetian masters, like Titian.
  • Peggy Guggenheim Collection: This is a wonderful contemporary art collection, displayed in the Venice home of famous collector, Peggy Guggenheim.
  • Rialto Bridge: This stone footbridge is one of the city's most famous and most beautiful architectural treasures, with a central portico housing a row of gift shops.

You can enjoy Venice's unique atmosphere in a historic villa or luxury vacation rental. An apartment rental or condo with a view of the canals will let you live like a Venetian for a few days.

Contarini - unconventional loft-style apartment
A home from home

Daniela was extremely helpful in answering our queries. The young man who met us was very efficient, and gave us good information, but instructions on working the TV and washing machine would have been appreciated, as we discovered later. We loved the apartment-everything we hoped for.(Except we couldn't get the canal door open!) The location and amenities were perfect. The closeness of the vaperetto stop was wonderful, especially at the end of a tiring day.Ground floor level is a bonus for people of our age. What we liked best is expressed above. Least - the occasional idiot who raced up the canal late at night with ghetto-blaster full on.see more
Palladio - excellent location and wide open water view
Not just a room, but two rooms, with a view

Planning a three generation trip to Venice was always going to be a challenge. After all, how do you satisfy the demands of both teenagers and their grandparents? If you are the ones stuck in the middle, then you really have to work hard to try to please both parties in order to have a successful holiday. Fortunately, we had excellent advice and help from Daniela at Truly Venice. We had very specific requirements for a holiday rental apartment, and she came up with the perfect home away from home in the Palladio apartment in Dorsoduro. Would you like wi-fi for the teenagers? No staircases for the grandparents? A vaporetto stop just outside your apartment? What about three of the most popular art museums in Venice at your doorstep? Would you like a room with a view? How about two rooms with a view? We had all these, and more. The folder that Truly Venice provided contained so much information on where to eat, where to shop and what to see that after the first day we left our own guidebooks behind and used theirs instead. After all, this was like having a local friend recommend to you their favourite places. The service which Truly Venice provides extends to organising the pick up by private water taxi from the airport. This made for a very smooth start to our holiday. On our final day, we really appreciated their kindness in allowing us to leave our bags at the apartment until we were ready to leave for the airport. In writing this review, I am mindful of the comments made by other members of my family. They have warned that if I say how wonderful it is, then we run the risk that we will not be able to rent the Palladio in future, due to overwhelming popularity. That may well be the case, but it really is only fair that other families or groups of friends have the opportunity of staying in and enjoying this truly wonderful apartment.see more
Biennale - great terrace with canal view in San Marco
Very Romantic rental near everything in San Marco

The property had several perks including a very nice terrace overlooking a canal, being on a quiet street just off a major piazza, in San Marco where you want to be and less than a 3 minute walk to a water taxi stop. We can't wait to go back to Venice and stay there again. … see more
Altana - San Marco roof-top terrace with pitoresque canal view
Fantastic

Hi, We stayed in your apartment in June 2013. The apartment was fabulous and the location was fantastic. The apartment was very spacious, elegant and had everything we needed, with the bonus of a beautiful canal view , and a great little balcony on the roof. We had drinks at the end of the day up here. It is right near a piazza with restaurants, and really close to San Marco, and the ferries, also only about an 8 min(if you don't look at shops) walk to the Rialto Bridge. The apartment is on about the 3rd floor with no lift, so maybe difficult for some people, but the bonus of being this high was we had the rooftop balcony, and a great view over the rooftops. We could even see San Georgio in the distance. We were travelling with myself, husband and 15year old daughter. She slept upstairs in the study/alcove, and loved having her own space. There was not a proper bed here (mattress on floor), and no closing doors for privacy, so probably not good for people other than family. It was very easy to get to everything from this apartment, and the check in and greeting was smooth. It is not far from the ferries when carrying suitcases.see more
Alba D'Oro - Venice apartment with breathtaking Grand Canal view
Brilliant and beautiful

This is the second time we have used Truly Venice for accomodation in Venice and again the didnot disappoint. The company is extremely professional and courteous from the booking arrangements to being met at our apartment, nothing is a bother. The apartments are well maintained and contain everything that is needed, especially in the kitchen, from cutlery to condiments to coffee makers. Our stay this time at apartment alba D'Oro was faultless. The accomodation was excellent and the view and location, priceless. I will use this company again and have recommended it to many people. Thankyou Daniela for another wonderful Venetian experience.see more
San Felice Terrace - Venetian apartment with terrace and canal view
Another amazing holiday in San Felice terrace

Our second visit to this apartment - we were not disappointed - it is so comfortable and has so many extras. The unusual antiques and decor are fascinating. The location is perfect - just off the grand canal for closeness to the sites and the wonderful Rialto fish market and away from the mayhem and noise of august tourist season. Best meal was at Poste Vecchio in Rialto - highly recommended to everyone - an Italian resident told us about it years ago and it never disappoints. The art Biennale was amazing - just go and have an adventure - could be life changing if you have an open mind to modern art. Hated the long queues in San Marco. Loved Serge Baldino's mask shop near Rialto - such a genuine and creative man - dont buy masks from anywhere else. Cant wait to return in 2 years but will avoid July and august.see more
