Named after its first inhabitants – a momma robin and her babies nesting in the roof's rafters - Robin's Nest is a gorgeous year-round cabin in the Southern Adirondacks in quaint, rustic & sleepy Caroga Lake. Although not on the water, Robin's Nest is a short block from West Caroga Lake in a quiet neighborhood with sweet houses. Recently lovingly restored with an eye toward preserving its rustic charm, it has all all the benefits and comforts of modern day amenities.
Robin's Nest features a great room, pool table, bar, wine fridge, flat screen TVs, a spacious patio, large yard, and rights to a small, shared private beach with a private dock on West Caroga Lake. The lake is about a two minute walk from the home which again is on a quiet neighborhood street with sweet houses and friendly neighbors. It sleeps 8 people comfortably in three charming bedrooms.
The private, largely fenced in back yard offers a flagstone patio, wooden picnic tables, a gas grill and outdoor fire pit. Adirondack chairs around a fire offer a place to relax, share stories and gaze at the night sky and stars. Native trees, flowers and plants, including a crab apple tree, lilac bushes and a black raspberry patch make up the landscape. A private driveway provides for parking for 3 to 4 vehicles.
The Great Room provides something for all. Those who want to relax, can curl up with a book in the soft leather recliner or on the large, plush sectional sofa to stare out one of the many windows, watch their favorite movie or sporting event on the 50 inch, flat screen, SMART LG television (with Cable TV, a DVD and VCR player, and high speed wireless internet-24 megs of bandwith) or, they might simply watch the fire dance in the cast-iron, gas stove fireplace. Others might shoot a round of pool on the wooden, claw footed, felt-covered pool table, make use of the wine fridge or sit at the beautiful built –in wood bar (featuring a classic bowling alley lane counter-top) and chatting over the bar with whoever is in the kitchen on the other side.
Robin's Nest's kitchen features a downdraft gas stove, refrigerator with ice maker, a dishwasher, country sink basin, and customized, hand-crafted, shabby chic kitchen cabinets and shelving, and a country cupboard that serves as a pantry. The kitchen is well stocked with every item you might find in your own home, and then some. It is fully equipped with a coffee maker, coffee grinder, toaster, blender, teapot and recycling bins. Although no microwave, there is a toaster oven.
The dining area's solid wood table seats 6 to 8 comfortably, and opens up to the backyard and stone patio through the sliding glass door. The breakfast nook seats another 8, if you add the expansion leaf to the table, and looks out on the front-yard through the charming bay window. Attractive glassware and china are found in the antique wooden hutch in the dining area and on the kitchen shelving.
The three bedrooms are airy and bright, each offering its own unique charm. All of the rooms have ceiling fans and blinds for maximum control of the light and new, firm mattresses with waterproof, hypoallergenic mattress covers on each. Each bedroom and the upstairs hallway features built-in shelving and drawers.
Every bedroom is furnished with its own bed, bedside tables, reading lamps, trunks, dressers, armoires and/or accessories. Each bed is covered with charming, country, shabby chic quilts, organic cotton blankets and pillows of all shapes and sizes. YOU PROVIDE YOUR OWN LINENS- SHEETS, PILLOWCASES AND TOWELS.
The large master bedroom, on the second floor is north facing. It affords guests a 32 inch flat screen TV and views of W. Caroga Lake and surrounding mountains. Centered under high, barn-like ceilings, is a king sized bed, oak end tables, vintage reading lamps, an antique desk, a reading corner with wooden rocker and an antique recliner at the foot of the bed.
The twin room is also on the second floor, and faces south. It holds a large wooden bunk bed with two twin mattresses and bunkies on the top and bottom bunks, and a cast iron day bed with a twin mattress and bunkie, and a trundle below with a twin mattress that pulls out. This room can sleep four comfortably. The twin room offers a reading corner with a vintage chair and table, lamp and an antique, blue and white checkered metal trunk with books and games for all ages.
The queen bedroom, located on the first floor has a queen sized bed, antique furniture and bedside lamps, and a rustic old red, barn door.
The queen-sized sofa-bed couch in the Great Room can also sleep 2 extra people in a pinch.
The large, full-sized downstairs bathroom features a rain shower and a tub, toilet, a country sink, faucet and vanity, a chrome mirror and amenities, lantern lights, wooden tile floor and a vintage barn door.
The upstairs bathroom is a smaller, three-quarter bathroom with a nice-sized shower, vertical subway tile walls and a solid, glass door, a sink and toilet.TripAdvisor property ID 2321988...Read more

We could no say more wonderful things about this charming vacation rental. It is wonderful. Everything the description says it is.
You catch window-framed views of the sunset through the front living room and upstairs master bedroom windows.
The house has everything you would want or need - it is stocked better than your own home - with dishes, pans, glassware, tea and coffee pots, coffee grinders, a wonderful old pool table that provides for hours of fun, flat screen televisions, high speed wireless internet and more. It is brand new, while using original bar doors for the downstairs bedroom and bathroom. The stairs on the first landing are from the original house and have a wonderful, rustic railing, although I understand that new stairs will replace the old stairs on the first landing when we visit in the fall.
The house is literally about 100 steps, or a short block and half to a private shared beach, with a private dock where you can rent canoes and kayaks. The marina is just a short drive away where you can rent pontoon boats or motor boats for the day. And, literally, just a 2 minute walk away is a wonderful, rustic coffee/breakfast shop, complete with Adirondack charm.
The big yard has a brand new BBQ, a cast iron fire pit, Adirondack chairs, a beautiful flagstone patio and as I understand it was just regarded and landscaped to be even better than when we stayed there.
Everyone of us had fun, from my 71 year old mother in law on down to the children (ages 6, 4, 4 and 3.

My wife's from the area, so we stay on the lake a couple times a year. Robin's Nest will definitely be a top choice for future visits. It's larger then most houses around lake and has been completely renovated so it's warm and spotlessly clean. The pool talbe is also a plus!

Our family of 4 stayed in the winter and had a great time!! Plenty of space and so very fun!! Perfect location for skiers! Only 5 min. from Royal Mt! We were skiing everyday and back at Robin's nest at night! The gas fire places make it warm and toasty!! I was worried that it may be drafty and chilly but it wasn't at all!! Love the decor! Rustic, yet whimsical and chic!! I have only 2 very minor negatives, the stairs would not be suitable for very small children and the King size bed is very, very, very firm. Other than those 2 tiny things, everything else was simply perfect!!! We had lots of fun playing pool and enjoying the open concept layout! I would absolutely stay again and not hesitate to recommend to anyone!! Love the tile "wood" floor in the downstairs bath (by the way the bathrooms are fantastic, clean, modern, spacious!) You will thoroughly enjoy your stay!! Ps, I have no idea what it's like in the summer as we only stayed in winter :)
