Description from owner

Description

Croeso! Welcome to Tirwyddan, which has recently been renovated and awarded a 5* rating by Visit Wales. Tirwyddan is set in a tranquil location near the golf course but is a mere 500 yards from the centre of the pretty, flower-filled town of Criccieth, a regular winner in Wales in Bloom. The house has stunning views of Criccieth Castle and the sea from most rooms.

Tirwyddan is one of 6 detached properties in a small cul-de-sac. It is in a lovely, sunny position with most of the rooms facing south and looking over the well-kept rear garden to Cardigan Bay beyond. The master bedroom boasts a stylish en-suite and has French doors leading to a balcony with a small table and chairs to help you make the most of the view of the castle and the coastline beyond – an amazing way to start the day whilst sipping a morning coffee!

The house offers a high degree of privacy. It is set back from the road and there is very little passing traffic. The most frequently heard sounds are birdsong and the noises of the sheep and hens in the fields behind the house. The atmosphere in our light-filled rooms is warm and welcoming. The house is ideal for families (including those with young children). Many of our visitors return year after year – and some come twice a year!

Well-served by local amenities, this lovely cottage is well placed for all of the fantastic activities and attractions that North Wales has to offer....or simply to relax and unwind in whilst taking in the wonderful views.

Getting around

Although there are buses to local towns and also a train station in Criccieth which travels along the coastline, most attractions outside Criccieth are best accessed by car and we would recommend having a car to make the most of your stay.

Interaction with guest

We don't live locally to the house, but we do employ a Housekeeper who will have cleaned the house thoroughly ahead of your arrival. The keys will be left for you in a key safe, the code for which will be provided to you ahead of your arrival. Should you need to contact us about anything then we are always available by telephone, but otherwise we leave our guests in peace to enjoy their holiday at Tirwyddan. We have a Guest Book at the house which provides lots of ideas of places to visit and things to do as well as recommended local restaurants, etc. There is also a guest comment book at the property in which many guests have also left their own suggestions for places to visit whilst staying at the house.

“One of the best”

Reviewed 25 Oct 2021

My party and I have been holidaying for almost forty years now, and this was the best accommodation we have stayed in, it was roomy, well equipped, clean, with wonderful views. The owner Jon was brilliant, taking the trouble to sort things out due to Covid cancellations, the extra precautions he had taken to ensure our safety were excellent, many thanks to all concerned

“Excellent location”

Reviewed 12 Jul 2021

A good location for visiting Llyn peninsula and also Snowdonia. Wonderful to sit out on the verandah for meals. Rooms well appointed, light and appealing. Bathrooms and showers really great. Did find curtains in main bedroom let in a lot of light so we woke up early. On our visit, the tumble dryer stopped on first use - it apparently had not been emptied of water or fluff for a long time. I would expect that to have been checked by the cleaners - and, we suggest a notice by the dryer about guests being advised to empty after each use would help. Other than that little glitch, all worked fine.

“Super holiday”

Reviewed 20 Sep 2020

We had a wonderful time in this lovely house. It is in a great location, with beautiful beaches nearby. The house was well equipped for cooking and relaxing. The balcony off the en-suite bedroom was a popular spot for breakfast as it caught the sunrise. The weather was great as were the local restaurants and cake shops which we tried.
