Description from owner

Description

This luxury apartment is situated on the heights overlooking a charming valley, within 1 mile of the riverside town of Cenac (Cenac et St Julien), which has many essential and leisure facilities. Close by is the ancient bastide town of Domme, with its grotto and panoramic views of the river, and the chateau villages of La Roque Cageac, Castlenaud la Chapelle, Vezac and Beynac. The larger town of Sarlat La Caneda is about 6 miles away, with its wonderful medieval “old town”, chic boutiques, an abundance of restaurants, bistros, cafes and bars, entertainments, large retail facilities, and many other services.

At Cenac you are at the centre of all the activities that La Dordogne has to offer: chateaux galore, grottos, troglodyte dwellings, bastide towns, vineyards, wonderful scenery in which to walk, cycle, horse ride and canoe . . and if you're feeling very flush, you can see it all from the air in a hot air balloon!

Leading off the main room is an ante room (dressing room with built-in wardrobe/cupboard) which gives access to both the double bedroom and the shower room (with hydro-spa shower, wc, and hand basin).

“Ideal Dordogne holiday setting”

Reviewed 7 Aug 2022

My partner Gweno and I have just returned home after two glorious weeks in the beautiful Domme area of the Dordogne. We stayed the whole two weeks at the great holiday apartment Aire des Buses, just outside the lovely village of Cenac and about a kilometre from the Dordogne river. Our host John and his partner Sue were really excellent hosts. The ground floor apartment was excellent - all the comforts of home, plenty of space, great welcome supplies, spotlessly cleane, nice and cool in the really hot recent weather and excellent value for money. The site up on the side of a wooded hill was really quiet and relaxing, had great views and lovely countryside or riverside walks. The large private pool and facilities solely for our use was brilliant. John and Sue, and John’s very recently acquired rescued friendly dog Dobby, welcomed us very warmly and were always available for very helpful info, tips and suggestions without in any way being intrusive. Indeed, they really added a lot to our holiday experience and enjoyment. Dobby took Gweno and I for lovely walks in the countryside and was a real joy. Many thanks to all three of you. The village of Cenac, within easy walking distance of the apartment, had all the facilities you could want - realy nice restaurants, supermarket, fuel station, pharmacy, range of local shops, canoe hire centre, etc. Local villages/towns such as Domme, Roque Gageac, Beynac, Sarlat le Caneda, Belves, Gourdon were beautiful places to visit and enjoy with wonderful views, shops and restaurants. We really enjoyed the spectacular locsl scenary on our 8 mile gentle canoe trip down the Dordogne. Truely a great vacation.

“Another Fantastic Time in Aire Des Buses”

Reviewed 11 Jul 2019

We stayed with John 3 years ago and always vowed to return and it didn't disappoint us. John is such a welcoming host (and Eddy the dog) and extremely helpful. the apartment is fully equipped with all you need and the lovely warm pool (30 degs) was so welcoming and appreciated in the 40 degree heat some days! The small town of Cenac has everything you need from the well stocked Carrefour supermarket, the restaurants (lovely lunch in La Traverse & evening meal in Sawadee), wonderful market on a Tuesday and last but by no means least the canoe hire on the river. We would highly recommend Aire Des Buses and Cenac for your stay in the Dordogne.

“Perfect stay!”

Reviewed 11 Sep 2018

Just spent a super week at Aire des Buses. The apartment is fully equipped and extremely comfortable, with a lovely private pool overlooking the valley. John, the owner, kindly provided a generous welcome pack and invited us for drinks and nibbles with his partner, Sue (plus Eddi the dog!). A beautiful and peaceful location with tons to see and do in the area. We could not have picked a better place. A big thank you to John for being the perfect host. We would love to stay again.
