Description

Red House Dornie is a large lochside house, dating from the early 1800's, on the stunning West Coast of Scotland. It is available as a self catering property for up to 12 people and has been rated as a 4* self catering property for 4 years running by VisitScotland.

The house faces the Isle of Skye and is a 5 minute stroll from the world famous Eilean Donan Castle. It is situated in the village of Dornie, where three lochs meet, Loch Long, Loch Alsh and Loch Duich. It's 9 miles from Kyle of Lochalsh and the Skye bridge, 11 miles from picturesque Plockton and a stunning drive away is Applecross.

Dornie has a traditional pub, a hotel, village Post Office & shop. Eilean Donan Castle, reputedly the most photographed castle in Scotland, is a few minutes walk away and can be seen from the front garden.

The Red House has been renovated to a very high standard by its new owners. There are six bedrooms (sleeping 12), 2 bathrooms, lounge with real fire, large dining room, utility and a well equipped kitchen. The front garden overlooks Loch Long and the large rear garden is private and has plenty of space for relaxing or fun!

We have recently added two drying and laundry rooms at the back of the house, giving lots of space to store and dry your outdoor grear!

A wealth of activities are right on your doorstep - walking, mountain biking, fishing, canoeing, scuba diving, horse riding and even llama trekking! And the scenery is breathtaking.

The house is ideal for large groups, family gatherings and especially celebrations! And well behaved pets are welcome.

“Wonderful stay at The Red House, Dornie”

We were a group of 5 adults plus baby staying for a week at the Red House. The house is fabulous and equipped with everything you might need for a comfortable stay. We appreciated the large dining table for some set piece dinners and also as a base for jigsaws. The bedrooms are comfortable with plenty of storage. Location wise, the house is close to a shop, Eilean Donan and some local lochside walks or walks at Balmacara. It is also well placed for trips further afield onto Skye, across to lovely Glen Elg, round to Plockton or further up the Wester Ross trail.

“Great week in a stunning location”

Having just returned from a week at The Red House Dornie we can certainly say we are relaxed and refreshed.The Red House is set in a beautiful location with easy access to Skye and Plockton with an easy 5 minute walk to Eilean Donan Castle,here you find some of Scotlands most beautiful scenery.We took amazing car journeys up and over to Applecross and along the Ratigan Pass.We had some wonderful family meals in the red dining room taking it in turns to cook in the very well equipped kitchen.We even made use of the barbeque albeit in the rain !Manuelas bakery is a 20 minute walk away where you can buy some lovely produce,sour dough bread,cookies and buns not to mention their fairytail gins and Pizza Joes on Wednesdays and Fridays we sampled it all.This is a lovely family house,in an amazing location which we look forward to returning to.
