“Renter” Very good location. Just the right size for a couple looking for a quiet getaway from it all. Large number of wineries, cidery, craft brewers, available. A short drive to Ithaca where I recommend the Boat Yard Grill for dining. Pet friendly was a big plus. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. Only drawback was wet firewood made it difficult to start a fire in the fireplace. A wood rack with a tarp would help. Would definitely recommend.

“This is a gorgeous and spacious lake home with plenty of amentities for adults and child. 5 Stars!!!!” This property is on a gorgeous location on top of a small hill. The view of the lake from the house is breathtaking. Our group enjoyed our stay thoroughly and we took full advantage of the amenities in the property like out door fire pit, hammock, boats/kayak allowed by the home-owner to be used by us. The house has enough space--we were a group of 9 people and the space was ample however there is only one shower so that might be a limitation. the kitchen was very spacious and had all the stuff needed for cooking. It would have been nice if there was a functional grill for using outdoors--the one that was there was kind of old and did not work very well. There was some strange odor in the dishwasher but that might be because of its limited usage. Overall, this place is highly recommended for vacation stay. The owners were really nice and friendly and the view and location is absolutely spectacular! My Response Thank you for your kind words. I do want to say that we have replaced the outdoor grill. I'm sorry you had trouble with it. I checked the dishwater also but could not smell or see anything in the trap. We disconnected the plumbing to examine and clean. Whatever the odor was, it's gone. My apologies. I am glad you enjoyed yourself. Upon your next visit, you can enjoy our new 16x30 log railing deck we just finished 8/19/14! Appreciatively Yours, Shawn Skeele

“Unique and beautiful...heavy on the character...” I'm a frequent visitor of the 'ette. I love the location (right off the main drag) but enjoy its solitude (wooded median...long drive way). Its sort of like a studio apartment in the woods. its close to many of the wineries, The Red Newt and Stone Cat restaurants and a gas/quick mart. When Wine tasting its easy to swing by and change clothes/use the facilities/take a nap (comfy beds) and unload your recent purchases. The owners are friendly and helpful. The grounds are spacious with a nice walking trail. For what you get for the price its really a great secret. So why share a secret? I'm not there long enough or frequent enough to keep it to myself...like a cool song, I shouldn't be singing it alone (especially if you've heard my voice).

“Perfect for a relaxing weekend!” Joe and Pat's cottage is great! The cottage was very clean, well-maintained and well-equipped. We had a wonderful relaxing weekend - in the winter, so I can't comment on the water fun but I'll bet it's great! I can say the fireplace worked just perfectly. Joe and Pat are great to work with and were extremely helpful with information about restaurants and various activities in the Finger Lakes. We certainly hope to be back again - maybe when it's warmer and we can take advantage of the beautiful lakefront area at the cottage. Thanks for sharing your great cottage, Joe and Pat!

“Beautiful, eco-friendly, relaxing experience” What an amazing place. We were amazed by the attention to detail, beautiful design, and welcoming environment. We traveled with our twin babies and had an amazing time. The yurt is gorgeous and comfortable. We had fresh eggs in the morning from a very kind hen and beautiful star gazing at night. Great place to bring a family! We'll definitely come again.

“Best Vacation!” I asked each of my kids to sum our stay at O'Cottage and they each yelled "Best vacation!" My wife agreed! It was great to take a break from the whirlwind of kids' activites to spend a week here in peace and quiet. The location on the lake is easily one of the best. We loved waking up to the water and going to bed after the campfire dwindled. The house is spacious and tidy and the outdoor shower is a treat. The owner is quick to respond to questions and the booking process was easy. Would I recommend this place to a friend? No! I want it all for myself! Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with my family!

About Finger Lakes

The Finger Lakes region is 9,000 square miles of a variety of things to see and do. While there is some debate, there are actually 11 Finger Lakes that span across the region. These eleven glimmering lakes were all formed from Ice Age glaciers moving through the area creating the illusion of finger shaped lakes. The glaciers that carved out the beautiful countryside left rolling hills and valleys perfect for the outdoor enthusiast to explore, and the perfect conditions for grape vines to grow.

The region encompasses 14 counties and spans all the way from just outside the western borders of Rochester all the way east to Syracuse from the shores of Lake Ontario all the way south to the Pennsylvania border. The Finger Lakes region is not just a point on the map, but an entire region waiting for your next adventure!

It is a four season destination with flowers blooming and agriculture blossoming in the spring, to festivals, Nascar events, and shopping opportunities galore in the summer, to vibrant fall foliage and the smell of grapes being pressed in the fall, all the way to snowmobiling, skiing, and mouthwatering culinary delights in the winter waiting to be explored! The variety of businesses to be found in the Finger Lakes region will take you days if not weeks and as soon as your visit to the region ends, you find yourself quickly starting to plan your next visit.

With all the natural splendor and outdoor activities to be found on the lakes themselves as well as surrounding hiking areas, state parks, and marinas, visitors will also be pleasantly surprised to discover the abundance of rich history that lies in the Finger Lakes. Museums dot the region dedicated to western art, the art of glassblowing, photography and film, and even a museum solely dedicated to America's favorite dessert, JELL-O found in the Finger Lakes community of Le Roy!

Major national events have ties to the Finger Lakes region such as the home of abolitionist Harriet Tubman who lead enslaved African Americans to the north. The Women's Rights movement took place in the town of Seneca Falls and women's rights leader Susan B. Anthony's home can be toured in the same location. If you're a Huckleberry Finn fan, be sure to visit Mark Twain's study in the town of Elmira and see where the iconic pages of the novel were written. These are just a few of the locations that break off the tip of the iceberg waiting for your inner curious history buff to explore!

Finger Lake Region (NY State) - Lakefront Cottage
Location is Perfect!

Location is Perfect! House is set in a quiet wooded area. We brought our Kayaks and were able to use the ones left at the house too. It was our first time Kayaking and the lake was a great place to start. House has everything you need in it. We brought our pop-up for the deck and it fit very well. Kitchen has all that is needed for your convenience. My husband and I slept upstairs on the queen bed and slept better then at home. We would have our coffee out on the deck in the morning and dinner out there also. It was a memorable family vacation for all of us! We would definitely love to stay here again!see more

Fantastic Lakeside Retreat

We spent Labor Day weekend here with another family, and had an amazing time. Unlike some other rental properties, the house truly felt like a home. There were plenty of kitchen items available for our use including: plates, cutlery, spices, mixers, pans and so much more. The beds were beyond comfortable and were made for us when we arrived. However none of that competed with the beautiful view out back. The lake is visible from so many areas and is truly a sight to take in. The three tier patio allowed us to enjoy the lake, roast some marshmallows and have a nice barbecue. We truly enjoyed our stay, and hoping we can make a return trip in the future.see more

Bayside Magic

We had a fantastic week at this cozy cottage! The view of the bay was beautiful. The cottage is small but the living room and kitchen are one big room which made it seem bigger. This is not a fancy cottage, it has vintage furniture and this is what makes it so homey and welcoming. It reminds me of cottages we visited when I was little. Everything was sparkling clean when we arrived. We hope to return next Summer!see more

Wonderful home away from home!

We had a wonderful time staying in this beautiful house by the lake. The homeowners went above and beyond in providing a lovely, clean, organized, and well equipped home. We found everything we could possibly need ranging from board games and laundry detergent, to a kitchen stocked with handy appliances (such as a separate drinks refrigerator, and milkshake machine that our grandchildren loved). We had a beautiful view of the lake from the back porch. Swimming in the water was so relaxing and we had a great time using the kayaks. We also enjoyed playing corn hole and building a fire every night for roasting marshmallows. Our only mild inconvenience was a heat wave during our stay, although there were plenty of fans it would have been nice to have the option of AC. We had such a wonderful time and hope to return one day to this beautiful place.see more

Pastoral Bliss

Set amongst beautiful farm country, this comfy cabin will not disappoint. From the front porch you can enjoy the views of fields and farms. There are lots of birds, many of them nesting. This is definitely a place to get away from it all, and there is a lot of property to explore. The Finger Lakes area has a lot to offer (Letchworth State Park being about 30 minutes away) but other spots are a bit of a drive.see more

Great Stay

My wife and I went for our honeymoon & it was an awesome experience. We were looking for a quiet and relaxing place to stay and that is just why we got. Annie and John are great hosts and have a ton of information about the area. The cottage is just enough for a couple or small family. Highly recommend!see more
